  • What a great place to stay!!

"A group go us were coming to Elkhart Lake for a wedding and wanted to forego staying in a hotel or condo and stumbled upon this gem. The house has great character, clean and full of light. It's location puts you steps away from the lake (enjoyed a couple afternoons at the beach) and close to some great restaurants and one of my favorite bars - Siebkens! And the porch was great for a pre-dinner cocktail. Lisa, the owner, was great and so helpful in helping us get the lay of the land. We can't wait to go back next summer!"

  • Weekend Wedding Retreat

"The carriage house was just what our party of two couples needed for a weekend wedding retreat. Upon arrival we found that the owners left a welcoming note and bottle of wine with snacks. In addition to the house being immaculately clean, the amount of kitchen gadgets even allowed our friend to bake a pie. Inside the nicely appointed bedrooms the bathroom Kohler fixtures showed off local pride. (I highly recommend visiting the Kohler design center.) When I book rentals I am always curious about the layout--you enter the house from the back side garage bays where there is a set of stairs leading to the second floor. In front of you is a dining table for 6, then to your right is a large open kitchen with island, and then the living room space with sofa, arm chairs, TV, and desk area. The apartment features vaulted ceilings. The numerous windows in the kitchen/dining look out over the lake for peek-a-boo views and the windows in the bedrooms and living room look into the trees. The on suite bedrooms are to the left and right of the shared living space and feature window seats and plenty of privacy. There is also a small utility room with cleaning supplies and laundry off the dining area. All the furnishings are basic, comfortable, and in fine condition. Although we were there for a wedding (it was the first time any of us had traveled to beautiful Wisconsin) it was also a race weekend. The sound of race cars started and ended at reasonable times during the day so it had minimal impact on the evening relaxation. One of my highlights was going out kayaking on our first evening and understanding why it is called Crystal Lake. Overall this rental proved to be a great choice for our party. I was pleased with the layout, the owners communication and hospitality, and the location."

  • Breathtaking!

"We thoroughly enjoyed a 'girls getaway' weekend and this place was absolutely perfect. Beautiful spacious kitchen; tastefully decorated throughout with comfortable seating and sleeping and spectacular views of Lake Michigan, couldn't ask for better."

  • Family gathering at Serene Home

"We had a wonderful time with our family at the Serene Home and Keepers Cottage. It is amazing how getting away from the fast lane to a secluded, serene spot on the big lake can sooth the soul. It was a great spot to reconnect and relax with our adult kids and grand-kids. We found it to be even more than we had imagined in spite of some storms that came through during the week. Since it was a cool week we enjoyed campfires in the evening and the kids enjoyed sleeping in in the mornings just about the time the sun had warmed things up we could enjoy the rest of the day. We enjoyed biking (Ozaukee Interurban Bike Trail) , hiking (The Lions Den) and kayaking (brought our own along) and game days/movie nights too. The grand-kids loved the outdoor shower (what a great idea) and the new second floor bath in the main house was just perfect for those sleeping up there. The sound of the waves was so soothing..Sunday morning I went out to see the sun come up as I sat on the beach with my cup of coffee...that was a Kodak moment. Thanks to Sally and her team, we had everything we needed and loved every minute (except packing up in the rain which was out of anyone's control)."
