  • Amazing view!!

"If you are looking for a condo rental with amazing views this is the place for you. There were 8 of us in our group and this home was large enough to accomadate everyone comfortably. The first thing we noticed upon arriving was the breath taking view of the lake. There is a hiking path on the other side of the condo and while hiking we came across an eagle in one of the trees and had several deer run through the back of the property. Highly recommend this condo and when we return we will rent again."

  • Peaceful spot yet close to town

"My husband and I stayed here with 2 other couples and found it to be the perfect size and location. We walked to Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant most mornings for breakfast then across to the waterfront. The photos don't do the home justice. The decor of the house is lovely, there is an extremely warm gas fireplace, and the bedroom arrangements are perfect for a small family or 3 couples. The upstairs master bedroom was wonderful, with a private balcony overlooking the wooded lot. The loft area with a futon is right outside the master bedroom upstairs, so it might be good for those with small children, assuming you could block the stairs. Even with being close to town, it still feels very private and quiet. The outside deck is quite large and would be great for family meals or just enjoying the peaceful setting. There is plenty of parking for the home as well. Our only complaint was the outside "stairway" you have to climb to reach the front door, which is really just a steep mulch ramp with occasional stepping stones. This is the only way to reach the front door of the home and my 65 year old mother had some trouble traversing it. Unless the owner fixes this, it would seem something to be cautious of for those traveling with the elderly or disabled. We would highly recommend this home for young to middle age groups who want a decent size home in a location that's walking distance to downtown Sister Bay, but still crave peace & quiet."

  • Abode in Sister Bay

"I was attracted to this listing because of its location in Sister Bay and its value minded pricing. Renting a house for a week saved money compared to several hotel rooms, and this gave us plenty of room to sprawl. First let me say that this property was clean and in good repair. Next let me say that this property can best be described as quaint. I haven't seen this much wood paneling since my Grandmother's house. You can see for yourself. The photos accurately reflect the property. So, what are the high points of this property? 1) My 86 year old father had no problems with the front steps and was easily accommodated by the ground floor bedroom. 2) The kitchen had all of the things you expect in a home, both appliance wise and dish wise. We did most breakfasts and dinners at the house. 3) The gas grill on the deck was nice. We cooked out three nights. 4) This property is managed by Door County Property Management which is headquartered in Sister Bay. This is handy in case you have issues and you don't know how to contact the owner. 5) This location is very close to Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant and the Sister Bay Marina. My 3 year old and I easily walked to the large playground south of the marina,. 6) The laundry in the basement is very clean and handy. Since we still cloth diaper my 1 year old son, this was a big plus over a hotel. 7) The hot water was plentiful and never seemed to run out even with lots of showers going on. 8) The street is very quiet as is the neighborhood. Were there any surprises? 1) I soon discovered that the lavatory cabinet of the downstairs bathroom is the laundry chute to the basement. There is no bottom to the left side of this cabinet; the chute lacks a hatch. After that, we kept the bathroom door closed so my 1 year old wouldn't wander in and explore. 2) The door to the deck proved to be a challenge to lock. All in all, this property was far better than a hotel stay. In the future, I will probably use VRBO again. We would like to bring more of the family along next time and rent a larger property along the water."
