  • Comfortable week in door

"Just spent a great week in Door County, on the outskirts of Fish Creek, at this unusual and beautiful house in a quarry. Mitch and Mary were our hosts, they were gracious, thoughtful, and generous. They gave us a tour of the whole house, which was very interesting, and Mary even made us a zucchini bread and picked some tomatoes for us. They live on the property, and were respectful of our privacy, but were available to help us if needed. Though the carriage house is attached to the main house, there is an outside stairway between the two buildings, so we could never hear them. They made sure we knew we were welcome to join them on their patio any time, but if we just wanted to wind down alone after an active day, there was a small patio with table and chairs behind the carriage house as well. We were able to bike from the house, and Peninsula state Park was just a few minutes by car. We spent our time there hiking with my dog, kayaking and biking. It rained one day out of the week, which was perfect for gallery hopping."

  • Absolutely Awesome!

"This was a GREAT week of vacationing for our entire family. We absolutely adored the home and it's location. My preteen daughter loved her own bedroom on the second floor which you have to see to appreciate her excitement. All of the amenities we were hoping for and more. Near to lots of fun things to do and food that is out of this world. Had some apprehension when I first read some reviews (prior to trip) about the check out procedures but it turns out that these have all been changed and you don't need to haul your garbage afterall. Just bag it up and put it in the convenient dumpster in the back of the lot. Would definitely consider renting again!"

  • Excellent value. Much nicer than the pictures. Nice owner.

"We were lucky to reserve this town house for a last minute trip. The location is excellent; at the edge of downtown with great restaurants nearby and the state park next door. The house was spotless and everything looks new. We were worried about the comforters pictured but we were wrong, they were new. Pictures don't do this place justice. Very comfortable and ideally located. The owner was responsive and nice over the phone. A very pleasant stay overall. Highly recommended and we wouldn't hestitate to stay here upon return to beautiful Door County. P.S. The Cookery and Wild Tomatoe are both excellent restaurants 5 mins walk away."

Is a Vacation Knocking? Get to Door County

The awe-inspiring beauty of Door County in Wisconsin will have you wanting more year after year. More than 300 miles of breathtaking shoreline will greet you along with boasting harbors, quiet coves, sandy beaches, and plenty of outdoor fun. With a dozen county parks, five state parks, and 10 lighthouses, it is no wonder that Door County resorts are some of the most popular vacation destinations in the area.

Check the Weather at the Door

Door County has a climate all its own. Because the region is a narrow peninsula and surrounded by the water of Lake Michigan, the lake moderates the temperatures throughout the year. It can make the winters quite cold but generally mild and the summers quite cool and less humid. This means that even in the gentlest of seasons, it is wise to have a sweater or warmer clothing at night. But no matter what the weather is like, Door County is a great place for both outdoor and indoor fun! Just remember to pack an umbrella, some warm clothes, and your bathing suit--depending on the time of year, of course!

Getting to Door County Lodging

There are plenty of ways in and out of Door County which is terrific since it is a highly coveted vacation destination. Many visitors enjoy driving in as the routes are quite scenic. The major highways leading in and out of Door County are I-94, I-43, Highway 57, Highway 310, and Highway 42. Just remember to drive carefully, especially in the winter months. Additionally, the speed limits are lower in Door County and the local law enforcement and state troopers are always on the lookout for speeders. You do not want to ruin your vacation with a speeding ticket. The best airport is Austin Straubel International Airport in Green Bay.

How to Explore Door County

Nature will definitely be calling your name when you stay in Door County vacation rentals. You will jump at the chance to go out sailing, cruising, fishing, boating, hiking, or biking; you can also just relax on the beaches. If you would like a sky-high adventure, take an airplane ride over Door County. You are sure to see some sights that you have never seen before! For those of you that love the water, sail the bays and explore the islands, lighthouses, and many bluffs. Horseback riding, a day at the beach, trolley tours, farm tours, and county parks are other ideas of how to spend your days. Because Door County has such a diverse list to offer, everyone in your family is sure to find something to enjoy.
