  • Sophisticated Comfort

"We selected this property because it provided the roominess our family would need for a Midwest reunion. We had often stayed in Door County when the kids were small but hadn't traveled there as a family for 17 years. The home did not disappoint. The home is spacious and each room beautifully appointed with the amenities and décor of a fine home. Each of our children, now grown and married, had their own bedrooms with adjoining bath. Their children, the cousins shared a bedroom, and they were in heaven! The kitchen was so well stocked with everything needed to prepare even a gourmet meal, that a pot brought to prepare a special dish was not needed. Unfortunately, the pot brought was forgotten, so I guess we'll have to book a return stay to retrieve the lost goods. Unlike one of the previous comments, our deposit was returned within a week of checkout. Thank you for sharing your home with our family!d"

  • Great View and Location

"There was a group of five of us that stayed at the Schooner House for a “girls weekend”. We enjoyed the accommodations and the location. Everything is just as it looks in the pictures other than the beach. The beach area was about 15-20 ft. It definitely could be longer if the area was cleared. It’s possible, because of the time of year, it is not kept cleared since there is less opportunity to use it. No algae issues during our stay. Everyone thought the beds were comfortable. The large deck and the view are the highlights of the Schooner House. Thankfully, we had portions of the weekend where we were able to sit out on the deck and enjoy the view, sun and the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Reminded us of being at the ocean. The chairs on the deck were cloth and very comfortable. We did not think the walk to the beach was long or that the neighbors were too close. It took less than a minute to walk to the beach. The water in the house did not smell. We also enjoyed the view from the living room and kitchen. We explored Two Rivers, Kewaunee and Algoma. Our favorite spots were the von Stiehl Winery and the Flying Pig. Two Rivers happened to be having their Ethnic Festival, which was also enjoyable. On our way to Algoma, we had lunch at Late’s in Manitowoc. This is a local favorite according to my friend’s father who grew up in the area. We thought the burgers, perch sandwich and cheese curds were very good. During our stay we ate at Red’s, a very short drive north of the Schooner House. The food was good. It offered a variety of choices. We had breakfast at Kunkels Korner in Kewaunee and Dairy Dean’s Family Restaurant in Algoma. Both were very good. The pizza was okay from Algoma Pizza Bowl. The crust was a little cardboardy. It could be a result of us having it delivered. The service was good at all restaurants. Pizza Bowl normally does not deliver to the Schooner House but they accommodated our request. We were very surprised that all the restaurants were willing to provide separate checks. Many restaurants in Milwaukee seem to have a problem with that. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Schooner House to others looking to stay in the area."

  • Far exceeded our expectations

"Our Christmas gift to each other - a weekend getaway! And I don't think we could have picked a better place! This place is adorable. And the "Nature of Romance" package was the cherry on top. This trip has brought us even closer and I can't wait to come back. Leaving this place with a little sadness, but only becauseI didn't want it to end. Thank you for helping make this little getaway SO perfect, a time for the two of us together that has far exceeded our expectations. Merry Christmas"

  • Winter Getaway!

"This Cabin was fantastic! So cool how it is built out of an old school house! Loved using the hot tub outside and was able to relax in front of the fire at night. We had a few inches of snow after our first night there and by 9 am the driveway was already plowed! Great advantage to this cabin is that it's tucked into a wooded setting but only 2 blocks from the shops in Egg Harbor!"
