"Lovely, light, airy, spacious cottage on a dead end road. Beds were very comfortable and all slept better than they do at home! A few issues but we found Janell very quick to respond and appreciated her efforts to make right. We found that there is no cell phone service for Tracfone and Verizon at the cottage and surrounding towns. Wifi was good at the cottage and enabled the email communication we needed. As other reviewers have mentioned, the front porch was a big hit for all! We had our medium sized dog with us and he enjoyed the large front and back yard and sitting on the porch with us. We went to a number of places to eat and found we could take him with us, as long as there was outside seating. We were disappointed that dogs were not allowed on any of the 'beaches', which we can understand from a hygiene point of view, but we wanted to see what his reaction would be when he tried something deeper than a puddle for the first time! We liked eating at Shipwrecked in Egg Harbor, The Ice Cream Factory in Sister Bay, The Vikings Bar and Grill for a 'fish boil' in Ellison Bay, (don't rely on times and days given by the tourist information, call The Vikings Bar and Grill instead), Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant (they have the goats grazing on the roof) in Sister Bay. Visited Pennisular State Park and played miniature golf at the challenging Red Putter. Thoroughly enjoyed the musical 'Lumberjacks in Love' performed by the Northern Sky Theater, although we were too late in the season for their outdoor performances. We saw it at Door County Auditorium in Fish Creek. We recommend the middle rows of seats, from row 3 back, if any left, or middle of the left side looking at the stage. On our last night we arrived back at the cottage to see a doe and her two young fawns in the back yard!
The weekend of Labor Day saw Sister Bay teeming with people for Marina Fest, by the Monday most folk had left!
Piggly Wiggly in Sister Bay is the nearest grocery store, a few minutes drive away. There is also a Shopko."

"Wow! This was a family vacation with adult children. Could not believe the space and he proximity to the bay. As others have noted, the pictures don't do justice to the property. There are beautiful sunsets, great swimming and you feel like you're away from everything. When you want some contact with others, you're still close to the restaurants and shopping in Sturgeon Bay and all of the other Door County cities. Also close to pontoon rentals. We hope to return. Echo the previous comments about the responsiveness of the owners which wasn't the case for other rentals."

"We rented out this great cabin for a bachelorette party weekend with about 22 people. The group was mid 20's all the way up to 60's. This cabin offered many different areas to sleep which was nice for people who wanted a quiet night or people who wanted to stay up late! Having two kitchens was also helpful for cooking and storing all of the food/drinks. Everyone really enjoyed the size of the cabin and all the amenities the Ellen had to offer.
The only draw back to this cabin was the water/lake. The shore line was pretty much unswimable. We were there during some really hot days in August and the lake was pretty cruddy to swim in. Some girls took floats out but said it wasn't much better in the middle either. However, there is nothing that the own can do about that!
There are some close by local bars to go to and the town does offer some grocery stores and gas stations. If you forget anything a trip to the store is not far away.
We would all come back and stay again. Ellen was a great host and was able to answer all of our questions. THANKS!"
