"No matter if your empty nesters, such as us, or a family King's Family Cottage offers a quiet, and relaxing vacation. We enjoy the rustic, yet not without conveniences, atmosphere of the cottage. Over the past 20 years or so we have been coming here, Mr King has added many amenities to the property. These now include WiFi, and a large screen television with Netflix streaming video. The two on property lakes offer excellent pan fishing, catch and release for us, a canoe, and paddle a boat are provided. There are a number of excellent supper clubs in the area, for those that do not want to take advantage of the modern kitchen, or the charcoal grill. At night the sky is so clear star watching by a campfire is our favorite thing to do. We also check the NASA website, to get viewing times, and watch the international space station pass overhead almost every night. We highly recommend a vacation, at King's Family Cottage."

  • Comfortable, Cozy, Private, Peaceful Retreat

"Everything VRBO claimed in its listing was accurate; the property was clean and well-maintained. Todd (an owner) was readily available by phone/email to answer all questions and address all concerns before, during and after our vacation at the Pike Lake house. It has been a pleasure to work with him...good sense of humor, also. We felt at home from the moment we drove onto the welcoming driveway and saw the building we would be living in for seven days and nights. It didn't hurt to catch a stunning glimpse of the lake on the right side of the house; it actually sealed the deal before we unlocked the back door. Todd and Pat's home was spacious enough to meet all of our needs, yet it hugged us with its warmth and coziness. The furniture was plentiful and comfortable. The layout of the kitchen and dining areas functioned well for us. We were seeking privacy for our vacation: the woods on three sides, and the gorgeous lake on the fourth, more than filled that desire. We left the property three times: once to drive to Minocqua (21 miles east) for groceries; once to drive along the scenic Rustic Road 144 after we dropped off our garbage at the Town Dump; and, last, to sadly drive back home. We only turned the TV on three times: once to wince and see the Packers lose and twice to hear the late evening news. We spent our time: reading and/or just sitting in lawn chairs enjoying the awesome lake views; swinging on the bench swing by the lake's shore; taking naps in the hammock; catching fish from the pier; watching bald eagles soar over the lake; peeking out the kitchen windows at grouse or a group of deer walking a few feet away from the back door; feeding bread to two Black (Mallard) Ducks who repaid us by doing their private business on the pier; listening to and watching different kinds of birds darting between the trees and dodging falling leaves that day by day carpeted the sprawling front yard; laughing at the antics of several small red squirrels and amazed by the sight of silky, fluffy-tailed black squirrels; kayaking and drifting, drifting, drifting on the lake; watching the bats come out at dusk to skim over the surface of the water for a meal of bugs; and, under the hush of night and a multitude of sparkling stars, the final ritual of roasting marshmallows over the glowing coals in the fire pit. We feasted on nature...we absorbed the peacefulness at Pike Lake House...we felt blessed. Thank you, Pat and Todd!"

  • A relaxing vacation

"My partner and I recently stayed at the cabin with our dog for four nights. It is located in a great area, fairly close to Antigo, with many hiking opportunities, and is QUIET. The cabin was very comfortable. The lake is clear and beautiful. As the photos show the bathroom is in the basement, so if you're one to take a trip there in the middle of the night beware the varnished log/wood steps down two flights from the loft bedroom can be slippery. It would have been helpful to have shower soap and a box of kleenex too and perhaps more than salt and pepper for spices but nonetheless we made it work and it was a delightful place."
