"Everything VRBO claimed in its listing was accurate; the property was clean and well-maintained. Todd (an owner) was readily available by phone/email to answer all questions and address all concerns before, during and after our vacation at the Pike Lake house. It has been a pleasure to work with him...good sense of humor, also.
We felt at home from the moment we drove onto the welcoming driveway and saw the building we would be living in for seven days and nights. It didn't hurt to catch a stunning glimpse of the lake on the right side of the house; it actually sealed the deal before we unlocked the back door. Todd and Pat's home was spacious enough to meet all of our needs, yet it hugged us with its warmth and coziness. The furniture was plentiful and comfortable. The layout of the kitchen and dining areas functioned well for us. We were seeking privacy for our vacation: the woods on three sides, and the gorgeous lake on the fourth, more than filled that desire. We left the property three times: once to drive to Minocqua (21 miles east) for groceries; once to drive along the scenic Rustic Road 144 after we dropped off our garbage at the Town Dump; and, last, to sadly drive back home.
We only turned the TV on three times: once to wince and see the Packers lose and twice to hear the late evening news. We spent our time: reading and/or just sitting in lawn chairs enjoying the awesome lake views; swinging on the bench swing by the lake's shore; taking naps in the hammock; catching fish from the pier; watching bald eagles soar over the lake; peeking out the kitchen windows at grouse or a group of deer walking a few feet away from the back door; feeding bread to two Black (Mallard) Ducks who repaid us by doing their private business on the pier; listening to and watching different kinds of birds darting between the trees and dodging falling leaves that day by day carpeted the sprawling front yard; laughing at the antics of several small red squirrels and amazed by the sight of silky, fluffy-tailed black squirrels; kayaking and drifting, drifting, drifting on the lake; watching the bats come out at dusk to skim over the surface of the water for a meal of bugs; and, under the hush of night and a multitude of sparkling stars, the final ritual of roasting marshmallows over the glowing coals in the fire pit. We feasted on nature...we absorbed the peacefulness at Pike Lake House...we felt blessed.
Thank you, Pat and Todd!"

"My girlfriend and I stayed here over the weekend and it was a great experience. Nancy was very nice and easy going. The place was very clean, had great decorations and had a pleasant view of the lake. The rental really gave a northwoods vibe. It is less than a mile off the main drag which makes it very convenient to go out for food and drinks. Overall, the trip was very enjoyable. My only recommendation would be to put a featherbed on the mattress. It is pretty firm and could cause someone to have a stiff back in the morn. Thanks again!"

"This was our 3rd trip to Spielhaus...another great vacation. The owners have invested plenty in upgrades. The shower and additional bedroom on the first floor are fantastic. This place would seem to comfortably sleep 8-10 adults in my estimation. Very clean. Updated Kitchen and appliances. View of lake is fantastic. We have plans to return again as it's such a great spot and such a great house. One of the main reasons we'd originally chose this vacation rental as a spot to visit was the availability of the boat to use during the week as part of the rental. This is a great 'hook' for anyone considering renting. It should be noted for anyone considering this rental that the pontoon is pretty small. You might fit 6 adults on it..you'd be incredibly cramped with more than that in my estimation. That said, it worked perfectly for my family (2 adults and 2 kids) and spent every single day on the lake taking in the views, watching the eagles, fishing, swimming, etc. Needless to say, we would highly recommend this rental."

"This is a wonderful real log home on beautiful wooded land and a lake. We have made three winter visits in the last 2 years and are in love with the cabin and the surrounding acreage. Entering you go down a long gravel road with snow banks hugging either side; very magical. The cabin itself is spacious, well built, very clean and a perfect place to come, rest and explore. There are huge windows overlooking the lake and an easy to use wood stove. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cookware. Upstairs is a very large, tall, loft with a double bed and a big area for sitting or watching videos on the flat screen TV. The basement is finished, has a walk-out door , a ping-pong table and a bedroom with 2 twin beds. As much as we love the cabin the best parts of the visit are right out the front and back doors. The lake is down a short slope and great for skiing and snowshoeing. Going back down the driveway there are multiple cleared paths (I think they must be old logging roads) that are great for skiing as well as little frozen pond/marsh areas also great for exploring. There are two more cabins on the same entry road but they are a significant distance away and in our 3 winter visits we have not seen anyone there. This cabin is a great place to just come and be. Enjoy."
