"Mingray Cottage was the perfect setting for our Retired Couples' Getway. The pictures did, indeed, justify the charm and quaintness of this lovely home. The cottage has the feel of seclusion, is quiet, yet is close enough to all the amenities that the Door offers. We were fortunate to experience the siting of a mother doe with her three fawns outside on the lawn, at dusk one evening, during our stay. We, unanimously agreed that this would be a destination for future get-to-gethers. Would definitely recommend Mingary Cottage."

"For those who like the quiet side, this part of Door County is perfect, and this cottage met our needs completely. Quiet should NOT be interpreted as dull, however.
*Great location - meaning a 5 minute walk to the ferry dock for the trip to Washington Island. Also, an easy drive to nearby state park and bluffs overlooks. Other attractions, such as Cana Island Lighthouse, an easy drive. The Maritime Museum just down the road from the cottage is a real treasure; take time to talk to the most knowledgeable young man who was there at the time we visited. Having stopped the day before at the maritime museum in Manitowoc, we were dubious about a small museum. But we were very wrong.
*Everything we needed to prepare meals. Try the fish from the market by the ferry dock!
*With such scenery and such sunsets, never noticed the lack of TV! However, we did have a portable radio and enjoyed Wisconsin Public Radio!
*Owner was quite solicitous, easy to work with when we made last minute plans, and very cordial. We felt completely at home and relaxed.
*We would definitely return; would love to see this country in the autumn especially and can imagine that winter is spectacular.
*Kayakers might appreciate the launches around. Also a good place for biking or hiking.
We have used VRBO previously and have been pleased. This cottage continues that tradition!
Thanks for a great visit."

Not just a home, a dream home unlike any I've seen before...
"I stumbled upon this posting not knowing what awaited us. As my wife and I pulled up on the Quarry Home property we entered a compound filled with beauty and built to display the magnificent rock formations formed by glaciers. This dream home has stories behind every stone piece and tile labored by her creators, Mitch & Mary. They were the highlight of our getaway providing exceptional hosting: friendly, mindful, respectful, inviting and full of stories waiting for a willing pair of ears. The space was clean, well kept and ready for our stay. The amount of room was suiting for 4+ let alone just us two. Mitch and Mary were very open to share their dream home and may invite you to sit outside on their beautiful cedar pergola hand built from local wood. This wasn't just a place to put your head down at night, it's a mini museum with two curators who've labored their hearts out waiting for you to enter and enjoy. Take a tour of their home and you're going to see a unique piece of geology surrounded by walls filled with pieces of history and their stories. By the way, Door County is great, but The Quarry House was the main attraction for us :) Thank you Mitch and Mary, we'll be back and we can't stop telling anyone who'll listen about how much we enjoyed our stay at The Quarry House!"

"The house was very comfortable for eight people. The kids had a blast playing pool and board games. It was nice to be secluded from other houses. The ATV trails were close and easy to find. We would definitely stay here again."
