"The log cabin was perfect for a weekend getaway. Many years ago I attended Northern Hills Girl Scout camp on nearby Cranberry and Denton Lakes (now under private ownership) and a few dozen of us former campers and staff met up for a reunion at Trees for Tomorrow in Eagle River the weekend my partner and I stayed at the cabin. We went to the public beach on Silver Lake in Eagle River and the water was clear and refreshing. We had excellent fish on Friday at the Nutty Squirrel east of Eagle River on Hwy 70. We walked the trails on the cabin's property and enjoyed the prairie flowers and trees. We purchased a steak, vegetables, and blueberries from the cabin owners at their roadside stand and all were delicious. the cabin is close to Hwy 17 however must be insulated very well since you cannot hear it at all once inside."

"This is absolutely gorgeous cabin. As someone already mentioned, if you are not looking to stay near a mall, this is the place you want to be - secluded private lake, rustic but yet modern cabin, grills (gas, charcoal), fire pit, boats, fishing rods. I can go on. The cabin was extremely clean. 7 adult can sleep nicely but any other combination can plan for some extra sleeping arrangement. There is enough space but you want to carry some extra sleeping bags. The other thing which we liked about cabin was the layout - the 3 rooms are on 3 different floors. 3 families can live together with privacy too."

"The home is nice, one bedroom upstairs (queen and bunk beds), the basement has two bedrooms that are on opposite ends of the basement with a small bathroom with a shower downstairs, bathroom upstairs with tub. The stairs to the basement are open, so if you have little ones, bring a gate. Only downsides of the rental was that there are many outdoor steps, that wasn't shown in pictures when we looked at it. When unloading and loading, it doesn't seem like much. Then the steps to the beach are a hassle if you have little ones who need to go to the bathroom, or if you forget something from the house. The kids did like the beach, and fishing from the dock. Didn't like that we had to go through PayPal (think you have better options now) and didn't get a response back as quickly as I would of liked that they received the deposit. The owners parents live next door, so if we had any problems/questions they were right there (we didn't have any). The map isn't accurate, it's near Woodboro, so further out of Rhinelander than what we thought. Upside is the home is well kept, beds comfortable and the kids had a lot of fun."

"We rented through VRBO. Bob replied to our inquiry right away.
We started booking that week. Bob was always kind and quick with all communications.
We got there right around 3PM on our arrival day. The house was perfect.
Everything was clean and in great shape.
The kitchen was freshly done with all stainless steel appliances, marble countertops and beautiful cabinets. So, the pictures on here are old.
We only used the dishwasher, fridge and microwave....we ate out every day. Those 3 things worked perfectly.
The 3 bathrooms were also newly remodeled.
All bedrooms and beds were great.
We never turned on the tv but the WiFi worked amazing. never any issues!
The kids loved the song that the washing machine played when the load was complete. They would set a timer so they wouldn't miss it.
The owner provided enough wood for fires every day, toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap with brush, some paper towels, some napkins, and some outdoor candles/bug spray. You never really know when renting on VRBO, this was a nice surprise to have all of these supplies.
We had an issue with a wasp nest under the boardwalk, 3 were stung on Saturday afternoon. We called Bob/Sue and within 2 hours on a Saturday during the Hodag Music Festival (everyone local attending) an exterminator was out. Nick spent almost 2 hours getting rid of the nest. They get 10 stars for caring about their guests.
The power went out in the entire area for about 2 hours one day. When power is out, no electricity and no water...so we went over to Buck Lake to swim until it was back on. The power company called us when it was fixed.
We fished on Lake Julia with a pontoon boat...never used Bob's boat. We caught bass and crappie. We are catch and release folks. We fished off the pier and caught many bluegills.
We saw deer driving in and out of Cranes Road.
I would highly recommend this place to everyone. It was perfect!!!!"
