  • Wonderful Stay in January

"We had a wonderful time at the condo. The condo was spacious, clean and had all the amenities we needed. An added plus is that we were within close walking distance to Peninsula State Park. We plan on booking this condo again next year."

  • Peaceful spot yet close to town

"My husband and I stayed here with 2 other couples and found it to be the perfect size and location. We walked to Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant most mornings for breakfast then across to the waterfront. The photos don't do the home justice. The decor of the house is lovely, there is an extremely warm gas fireplace, and the bedroom arrangements are perfect for a small family or 3 couples. The upstairs master bedroom was wonderful, with a private balcony overlooking the wooded lot. The loft area with a futon is right outside the master bedroom upstairs, so it might be good for those with small children, assuming you could block the stairs. Even with being close to town, it still feels very private and quiet. The outside deck is quite large and would be great for family meals or just enjoying the peaceful setting. There is plenty of parking for the home as well. Our only complaint was the outside "stairway" you have to climb to reach the front door, which is really just a steep mulch ramp with occasional stepping stones. This is the only way to reach the front door of the home and my 65 year old mother had some trouble traversing it. Unless the owner fixes this, it would seem something to be cautious of for those traveling with the elderly or disabled. We would highly recommend this home for young to middle age groups who want a decent size home in a location that's walking distance to downtown Sister Bay, but still crave peace & quiet."

  • What a great experience!

"This was our first rental from VRBO and this owner, and it was a wonderful experience. The cabin was better than described in the listing. It was clean, comfortable, and it seemed as if it was newly remodeled (definitely not that "run down" feeling). The cabin was also stocked with all the essentials - all we needed to bring was groceries. Our three kids had a blast fishing off the pier, watching the bald eagle in the tree in the yard, and roasting marshmalllows by the fire at night. We would absolutely rent from this owner again!"

  • This lodge is truly one of a kind!

"We had our family vacation here this summer, stayed one week. We had a large group of extended family (ages 3-91). We've visited many different destinations for our summer vacations in the past, and this is the only place everyone agreed we plan to return to! The lodge itself is wonderful with great lake views. The bedrooms are spacious, beds are comfortable. We liked the variety of bedrooms to suit our different family members. Additionally, we found the lodge to be quite soundproof (which if you travel with a large group you know is extremely important). We loved the mens and ladies bathrooms on the lower level. We also loved the amount of common living space. Other rentals we've stayed in have had 8+ bedrooms, but the common space was never enough to truly accommodate our large group. This lodge felt so large even for a group of our size...everyone was able to spread out when they wanted to but come together when we wanted to as well (for instance in the HUGE dining area). The washer and dryers were great. There were plenty of towels, washcloths, pillows, linens and blankets. The kitchen is so fully stocked and easy to cook in. Rather than cheap pots and pans you get at some rentals, BV lodge has good quality kitchen utensils and cookware. Probably sounds strange, but one of our favorite parts of the lodge was the garage. It is the cleanest garage you've ever seen, and we used it heavily for our coolers and storage of food and supplies (it's located conveniently off the kitchen). Also the garbage and recycling bins are big enough to accommodate large groups (we've had this problem in the past) and are located out of the way. This property is very well managed, they keep it clean and maintained and well-supplied. On to the very best part of BV lodge...this property is amazing and hard to come by. It is huge! There are no neighbors essentially. You have your own beach, volleyball court, dock, nice hiking trails through the woods, an expansive lawn, nice firepit, lots of deck space, large gas grill, a private island and bridge, plenty of parking, an abundance of baby toads in the woods (kids loved them!), etc... The fishing was good when we were there...northern pike and bass. The lake is clean, plenty of shallow water for swimming, and the water was warm enough in July. We used the kayak and canoe a lot! It is just beautiful, it's like having an entire wooded lake resort all to yourselves. Can't say enough good things!"
