  • Family vacation

"We had a wonderful family vacation, the home is very well constructed with solid doors so we didn't wake other family members. Lake beautiful and very clear, pontoon ran beautifully, only thing we did not realize no beach to sit on and watch little ones play in water."

  • Vacation paradise

"Thank you Ron,Amy and Malibu our week vacation almost didn't happen because of a med emergency but we made it and it was absolutely the best. No hot flashes for a week,a miracle , watching my hubby and Malibu fish ,priceless, the weather was awesome even may have been a bit chilly at night but that is what an evening fire at the beautiful fire pit is for,the cabin is always so clean, comfortable has everything you need! Our three little dogs were welcome again and had a blast. We can't thank you enough! The swimming, grilling out, fishing in the rowboat, hiking at Copper Falls, a vac we needed and thanks again Ron,you are truly a wonderful host, your mom and dad can be proud!"

  • Quiet and fantastically relaxing

"We don't get away enough. But when we do we love coming here. This time I was most looking forward to the quiet and was not disappointed. Sequestered in such a beautiful, soft, and secluded place, relaxation is virtually mandated."

  • Peaceful Northwoods Escape

"We stayed for a week with 6 adults and 2 kids (11 and 8) all family, and did not feel cramped. 1 bathroom did not cause any problems, and the house had really everything we needed. It was close to town, close to golf, and the Leinenkugels brewery was a must do! Only negatives were the steps to go down to the lake (enough to make sure you had what you wanted to take down!) and the lack of an area to really swim by the dock (shallow, but lots of weeds). Fishing was slow, but that's fishing. Used the kayaks, which was great as the "small" part of the lake is very quiet and calm, with little power boat activity. Was a little disappointed to find that we could not rent a pontoon boat from the "Big" lake, as we would not be able to get it under the road separating the two parts of the lake. Deck was fantastic, lots of chairs and space, spent a ton of time out there. Overall, very happy with the trip!"

Cumberland Travel Tips

Activities and Attractions at Cumberland Vacation Rentals

Cumberland is often referred to as the island city as it is almost completely surrounded by the beautiful Beaver Dam Lake. The community is well developed with schools, hospitals, libraries and shopping centers yet it has managed to retain some of its small-town charm. Because of its proximity to Beaver Dam Lake, one of the most popular pastimes is fishing. Anglers can try to hook some trout, walleye, bass and panfish. A wide range of recreation activities are available on the dam, including boating, waterskiing, wake boarding, sailing and swimming. The dam is 160 feet deep so it is suitable for all kinds of water sports. Hunting is allowed in certain regions near Cumberland. Inquire locally for information on permits and seasons.

In the wintertime, one of the most popular activities is cross country skiing. Just north of Cumberland is the Timberland Hills Ski Area which has groomed trails for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There is a 2.5-kilometer trail at Timberland that is lit up for night skiing. The trail follows a winding route through the beautiful forested region of Barron County. In total, the ski area covers 500 acres of varying terrain. The routes are scenic and it is not uncommon to spot some wildlife along the trails. The more advanced skiers can enjoy changing terrain and some challenging sections. The beginner and intermediate loops are somewhat shorter and great for those that simply want to enjoy being outdoors without having to work up too much of a sweat.

Nature at Its Best at Cumberland Cabins

Many of the cabins in and around Cumberland are set on large acreages with scenic views. Traditional two- and three-bedroom log cabins can accommodate families of up to six people. Cozy fireplaces and living areas that are comfortably furnished make you feel right at home. Many of the homes are located on the lakeshore of the Beaver Dam Lake. This provides many water sport and recreational activities for everyone. Cumberland is the type of destination where you can relax and spend some quality time with the family. The vacation homes have enough space for the kids to play and enjoy the outdoors. Parents can join in the games or enjoy some relaxation under the shade of the trees. Enjoy walking trails, paddling on the lake or a quiet picnic on the lakeside.
