  • Excellent time!

"Beautiful setting in a very homey cabin. Fully renovated with all the comforts of home. We've stayed at the Reel Livin Resort multiple times in their cabins and this was just as nice and even had wifi. We rented their pontoon, which was very large, clean and ran beautifully; the resort even came over during the week to assure we had all the gas we needed to get through the remainder of the week. For a few of our days we had 8 people in the cabin that slept quite comfortably. Air conditioning worked great, even on the upper floor. The highlight was a very tame deer that pranced lazily through every evening to add to our view of the lake. Our boys enjoyed the Reel Livin's basketball and ping pong, which is just a short minute or two drive away by car…you could walk it or even take the boat if you so chose. The lodge makes a great burger and beer spot with a large window for a panoramic view of the lake. I recommend watching the sunset from the resort's beach at least one of the nights. Thanks for sharing your home with us!"

  • Great week in the autumn north woods!

"Our family of 6 adults met up from 3 different states here in Wisconsin after finding the Flying Moose cabin online. We really weren't sure what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised. We thoroughly enjoyed all the inside and outside activity options. We like quiet boating so we used the canoe, rowboat and paddle boat every day, but then rented a pontoon boat from the Mystic Moose for one day just to see more of the lake and try some different fishing spots. We spent 2 half days in Hayward and fell in love with the charming businesses on the side streets. We loved Wests Dairy, Tremblay's Olde Tyme Candy store, Hayward Bakery & Cheese store, Sophie's Dog Bakery, & Itasca Leathergoods. We must have walked almost every mile of the walking/hiking trails across the street from the cabin because our sons' 2 dogs loved them so much! We used the fire pit down near the water almost every night. We saw several bald eagles, one being in the pine tree right on the property! Mike, the owner was very easy to work with and make the whole experience simple for us. We would definitely recommend this rental to folks who like privacy and outdoor space. It's at least 30 minutes from the town of Hayward so preplanning grocery store trips is helpful."

  • A great spot to spend with the family

"This was an amazing cabin. My family of 4 planned on taking a week's vacation and found this wonderful place. Since it was so big we invited inlaws! There was enough room for 9 of us with room to spare. The space was perfect. Very well maintained. The owner was fabulous to work with. We fished of the dock, rented a pontoon from the resort down the road, had a fishing guide one day, campfire, four-wheeling (on a rainy day even), and had to relax on the wrap around deck. This is definitely a place to check out!"

  • Beautiful week! Great service! Super friendly!

"My girlfriend and me stayed at the cabin for six nights! The cabin is well furnished and equipped (Refrigerator, Freezer, Oven, Microwave, Stove). Moose Lake was beautiful and I'd definetly recommend renting the motor for the boat just to be able to get to see everything. The great service is best described by examples. We weren't catching too much fish, so Tracy gave us new, different bait for free. Then, after a stormy night, he drove all the way up here just to check on us. He even drove us to the next town that had power to communicate with home. I'd rent the cabin again in a heartbeat."

Hayward Travel Tips

Delight in the Charm of Hayward, Wisconsin

Hayward has a typically small-town atmosphere and many visitors return time and again because of the warm welcome they receive. There are a wide range of resorts and rental homes, some of which are delightful log cabins. Well equipped and cozy, most have a fireplace that you can light up in the cold winter months. Larger homes can cater to families or groups of friends; you'll still have enough space to store your mountain bikes, kayaks, skis and other sporting equipment. Outdoor decks are perfect for enjoying summer evenings star-gazing or socializing with friends. With the wide range of attractions and activities it's nice to have your own Hayward private home, be able to come and go as you please, and enjoy your vacation on your own timetable.

Stay at Hayward Resorts and Join in the Seasonal Festivals and Events

There are several high profile events that put Hayward on the map. When the snow has settled in the wintertime, cross country skiers from all over North America come to participate in the American Birkebeiner Cross Country Ski Marathon at the end of February each year. The event is the largest and one of the most prestigious events on the cross country ski calendar and attracts close to 8,000 skiers to the line-up of events.

In the summer months, you can attend the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, a weekend of mountain biking events which are loads of fun. Mud and fun are the order of the day with the serious race happening on the Saturday so that you can enjoy the festivities for the rest of the weekend.

Another entertaining event is the Lumberjack World Championships. Attracting participants from as far afield as New Zealand and Australia, this is a demonstration of brute strength and precision lumberjack skills.

Traveling to Hayward

Hayward is a year-round destination, with more than enough summer and winter activities to keep visitors to Hayward lodging entertained. The closest major commercial airport is Minneapolis, although Hayward does have a small regional airport. There are regional bus and shuttle services. Chauffeur-driven limousines and taxis are also available if you'd prefer private transfers. Many people drive up to Hayward and road access is easy. Located off the main I63, the routes are clearly posted and the roads are well maintained.

Lots to see and do at Hayward Vacation Rentals

Hayward typically attracts visitors that love culture, nature and the outdoors. The miles of mountain trails are open for hiking, mountain biking and horse riding in the summer months. You can spend days out in the mountains looping around on various trails and never get tired of the scenery.

In the wintertime, the area becomes a haven for cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snow shoeing. There are over 600 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and cross country ski routes over varying distances and terrains. Ice fishing can be enjoyed on many of the lakes and when the spring thaw comes, the streams and rivers are superb fishing grounds.

In the spring and fall, the vibrant natural colors create wonderful photographic opportunities. The serenity of the lakes contrasting with the orange hues of autumn make for a picture perfect moment. The spring thaw and bright green new growth that it brings with it are equally enchanting.

Bird-watching can often be combined with a leisurely paddle on the lakes. There are also more than 200 miles of rivers suitable for canoeing. The river systems flow through pristine undeveloped lands, national parks and forests, occasionally emptying out into small swamplands that are a haven for waterfowl.
