  • Awesomely Fun, yet plenty of relaxation!

"The house and the view are stunning! We had two families, seven people, with plenty of room. It was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked, with every appliance, hardware, utensil, dishes needed (seriously, other than food, dish soap, dish washing detergent, garbage bags, etc, you don't need anything much more). There was plenty of fun on the lake with skiing, kayaking (which was supplied with the cabin), boating (we brought our own), and fishing. The fishing was slow, probably because it was August, but still cut enough for a big fish fry. The lake is large and gorgeous. It's close to restaurants (especially like the pizza at Anglers Haven). It's not far from Hayward, so if you need to make a run for something, it won't take long. The guys really seem to appreciate the boat lift on the back. The kids loved the basketball hoop, foosball table and air hockey table. As for myself, I loved playing silly games around the bonfire. Would not hesitate to recommend this cabin to anyone wanting an enjoyable, relaxing vacation!"

  • Rental home # 399925

"Our family truly enjoyed our week vacation in your absolutely beautiful home. Thank you for sharing it with us. Our week was amazing right from the start when we were greeted and welcomed by Kathy and she showed us where everything was. It was wonderful to have our pontoon and boat at your dock with easy access. Your home had everything we needed to make our vacation absolutely perfect. It was wonderful to have the spacious kitchen to do all of our cooking, living room with plenty of sitting area and the downstairs family room with bar area was very nice and spacious also. Having the three bathrooms was great too. Everything was clean and ready for us. They had plenty of bath towels and dishes for cooking. We were able to walk to Chief Lake Lodge, Pat's Landing and Schultz's for a quick bite to eat and it was a short distance to Hayward to buy groceries. We were able to enjoy the hot tub out side as we relaxed on the patio. Having the extra refrigerator was great too with having less trips to town for groceries so we could enjoy more time on the water and fishing. The washer, dryer and dishwasher was another wonderful feature to have while on vacation. We have already scheduled for next year so we were very happy with everything. Thank you again for sharing your home."

  • Great Vacation Spot

"This is a well maintained, relatively new cabin with a great location. The beds are wonderful and the furnishings are most attractive. The living room has a large stone fireplace, and the many windows provide a scenic view of the lake. There is a spacious deck and a pleasant screened porch off the main bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped and the appliances are exceptional for a vacation property. I can't think of anything which was lacking. Lake Namakagon is good sized with healthy fish populations. My grandson and I caught plenty of bluegills right off the dock along with a few bass. We also enjoyed swimming at the cabin. The water depth is about five feet at the end of the pier and drops off quickly with few weeds. A great spot for floating on a warm summer day. This is a great rental and well worth the price. I definitely plan to return."

Hayward Travel Tips

Delight in the Charm of Hayward, Wisconsin

Hayward has a typically small-town atmosphere and many visitors return time and again because of the warm welcome they receive. There are a wide range of resorts and rental homes, some of which are delightful log cabins. Well equipped and cozy, most have a fireplace that you can light up in the cold winter months. Larger homes can cater to families or groups of friends; you'll still have enough space to store your mountain bikes, kayaks, skis and other sporting equipment. Outdoor decks are perfect for enjoying summer evenings star-gazing or socializing with friends. With the wide range of attractions and activities it's nice to have your own Hayward private home, be able to come and go as you please, and enjoy your vacation on your own timetable.

Stay at Hayward Resorts and Join in the Seasonal Festivals and Events

There are several high profile events that put Hayward on the map. When the snow has settled in the wintertime, cross country skiers from all over North America come to participate in the American Birkebeiner Cross Country Ski Marathon at the end of February each year. The event is the largest and one of the most prestigious events on the cross country ski calendar and attracts close to 8,000 skiers to the line-up of events.

In the summer months, you can attend the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, a weekend of mountain biking events which are loads of fun. Mud and fun are the order of the day with the serious race happening on the Saturday so that you can enjoy the festivities for the rest of the weekend.

Another entertaining event is the Lumberjack World Championships. Attracting participants from as far afield as New Zealand and Australia, this is a demonstration of brute strength and precision lumberjack skills.

Traveling to Hayward

Hayward is a year-round destination, with more than enough summer and winter activities to keep visitors to Hayward lodging entertained. The closest major commercial airport is Minneapolis, although Hayward does have a small regional airport. There are regional bus and shuttle services. Chauffeur-driven limousines and taxis are also available if you'd prefer private transfers. Many people drive up to Hayward and road access is easy. Located off the main I63, the routes are clearly posted and the roads are well maintained.

Lots to see and do at Hayward Vacation Rentals

Hayward typically attracts visitors that love culture, nature and the outdoors. The miles of mountain trails are open for hiking, mountain biking and horse riding in the summer months. You can spend days out in the mountains looping around on various trails and never get tired of the scenery.

In the wintertime, the area becomes a haven for cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snow shoeing. There are over 600 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and cross country ski routes over varying distances and terrains. Ice fishing can be enjoyed on many of the lakes and when the spring thaw comes, the streams and rivers are superb fishing grounds.

In the spring and fall, the vibrant natural colors create wonderful photographic opportunities. The serenity of the lakes contrasting with the orange hues of autumn make for a picture perfect moment. The spring thaw and bright green new growth that it brings with it are equally enchanting.

Bird-watching can often be combined with a leisurely paddle on the lakes. There are also more than 200 miles of rivers suitable for canoeing. The river systems flow through pristine undeveloped lands, national parks and forests, occasionally emptying out into small swamplands that are a haven for waterfowl.
