"The place was sooo much more then what I expected. I have not stayed in a rented house before but this made our trip, I did not realize how comfortable I would be.
I caught ton's of perch, seen lots of wild life including a very large snapping turtle that appeared from under the water deck, loved the paddle boat. The trip started out by finding a 5 leaf clover, wildlife abundance (from the nightly deer, to hundreds of frogs and even a bear (not on the property but on the road exiting the property) and an eagle too.
The house was well equipped with marsh mellow sticks, laundry detergent, grilling equipment with coal and lighter fluid. I had brought several fishing poles but once again there was an abundance of poles already there too. A wonderful abundance of firewood for the fireplace (both inside and out). Kitchen had all amenities including our forgotten coffee filters for my morning coffee. Beds were very comfy. The place was close enough to the town for food supplies. We used the paddle boat daily, and we also brought a paddle board that we used daily. Our phone service (verizon) worked great on the lake (LOL), on the volleyball court, in the upper bedrooms. Other parts of the house we received 1G and mostly texts came through.
Owner was great to work with! I would say I would have liked WI-FI however; I loved the idea that all of my kids were unplugged !!! And we played lots of games that was also supplied. I had a wonderful time being unplugged, enjoying family time, playing games.
The weather fluctuated from very hot days and very rainy days to chilly evenings. I did not use the AC as the breeze off the lake was enough to cool the house down. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone wanting an enjoyable, relaxing place to stay."

"Several of our family members, representing three generations, gathered at Lion Downe for a three-day birthday celebration in August to honor the elder of our clan. Lion Downe served as an idyllic place for us to gather. Whether we were enjoying the marvelous hot tub, playing board games in the living room, sharing and creating memories around the dining table, cooking a tasty meal in the well organized and thoughtfully stocked kitchen , enjoying a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed with high quality linens, or gazing at the phenomenal view of Lake Pepin and the wilderness surrounding it on the deck, we felt extremely comfortable, fully relaxed, and delighted with all the available amenities. The house is filled with character and charm and the screened-in porch and deck are perfect settings to enjoy the natural setting to its fullest. We have rented houses in England, Wales, France, Belgium, Costa Rica, and the United States and Lion Downe ranks as one of our absolute favorites. The owner's helpfulness and prompt communication is a tremendous benefit--he makes the entire rental process easy and efficient from beginning to end. What's not to love?"

"Very nicely equipped and maintained cottage in giant pine trees on Lake Hayward, yet just minutes from the conveniences of Hayward. Perfect for a getaway or alternative to a hotel stay. Ideal for the wedding we traveled to Hayward to attend."
