  • Very Homey

"Staying at this home was just what we needed. It was very conveinent to walk to town. We traveled during off season so there were not too many tourists. The island is very dog friendly. There are plenty of things to do on the island if you like nature and being outdoors. We would definitely recommend staying here. The island is a nice little getaway from reality."

  • Yo-ho!

"What a fantastic time was had in Hayward! The description is exact, but the personal touches and atmosphere of this cozy little nook are not completely captured in the posted pictures! We were very impressed throughout. In our opinion, the cabin was far more than we expected. It's a bit smaller than we are used to for our family, but the smart and efficient design balanced everything. We loved the sleeping porch, as it really becomes yet another bedroom entire to itself. We also felt that the Kitchen was very updated compared to the existing photos, and it made for a very easy go of things when it came to meal time. The cabin is very close to Hayward, even walkable; but felt removed and excluded from the main highway. The canoe, lake access and fire pit topped off the entire experience. Plenty to do - Lumberjack's galore (Yo-ho!), Fishing Museum, unique shops, flea market, mini-golf, and plenty of great places to eat (The Norske Nook has fantastic pie!). We did a day trip to Madeline Island on the ferry, and also visited the Cement Museum in Phillips on our way in. Thank you for the many memories, we all hope to return. We can't say enough good things about this sweet little gem!"

  • Perfect for large families

"We were looking for a rental in which to hold a celebration for my husband's 60th birthday. All 3 of our adult children, with their families, traveled to WI for this gathering - so we needed a space that would allow a family of 14 to be together. Ann's gracious home fit the bill perfectly. There are plenty of bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. Additionally, there is a full kitchen, a laundry room (life saver with little kids), and multiple living/family room spaces for people to be together - or to have a little personal space. My favorite part of the house is actually attached to the house - the garage. Ann has two cafeteria tables in there - so we could have all 14 of us sit down to eat at once - with no worries about little hands spilling milk, because it is a garage. Excellent. For the river - it is beautiful. I've always been a lake girl, so was a little nervous about the river - no need, it was great. The water is very clean, shallow enough for little ones, deep enough to fish for walleye and small mouth bass (which were delicious btw). Ann has life jackets, inflatables - really everything you'd ever need. We are very grateful to have found Ann and this property. I highly suggest it. Sincerely, Raechel Schowalter"

  • Relaxing Stay

"We stayed in your island home mid September 2014. The fall colors were beautiful, peak I'm pretty sure. Your home is very private, very clean inside and suitable for large groups. We had 5 adults and 2 day visitors and we were more than comfortable. We enjoyed the campfire and of course the fishing. I now have a big fish story to tell and the fish that got away gets bigger and bigger everytime I tell my tale. One evening the lake was like glass and we caught one panfish after another right off the dock. Such fun! We did notice that the kitchen could use some more baking dishes, casseroles etc. Also some wine glasses would be nice. The dishwasher didn't work, but we had several dishwashers along that were willing to pitch in. The pontoon was easy to operate and we enjoyed a cruise around the lake, and docking wasn't a problem even though we aren't experts. Overall we had a wonderful time and thank the owners for sharing their home."
