"We recently got back from our four generation family vacation and want to go back again! We had a wonderful time at Big Bass Lake! The chalet is beautiful! The bedrooms were well appointed and comfortable. The bathrooms were also nice sized with everything you need! There is a crib with linens, a bumper pad, even a monitor so we could listen for the baby. The kitchen has a wonderful assortment of pots, pans, casserole dishes, baking pans, coffee makers, crock pots, dishes and silverware. There is a really nice dishwasher in the kitchen and a washer and dryer in the basement. Also in the basement is a fooze ball table, a pool table and a ping pong table!! We had a great time playing games when we weren't fishing! The water is really clear and there are tons of fish. We usually catch and release and the fish kept us very busy! We caught a lot of sunfish and bluegills, a couple of perch, some large mouth bass and northern! After dinner we would all head down to the pontoon and take a cruise around the lake.
We also enjoyed some time site seeing. We went to the Woodcarver's Museum, the Great Northern Train ride, and the Potters Shed in Shell Lake. We painted our own pottery at the Potters Shed, but they also have a store, a snack bar, an outdoor area, and when we were leaving they had a band setting up for the evening! One evening we decided to go out to eat in Minong. We went to the Longbranch Saloon and had some really good barbecue! Minong is only about 6 minutes away and has a grocery store which is also the Jack Link's jerky outlet, a sporting goods store for all the fishing things and bait, and an A&W. There are really nice beaches nearby if you don't want to swim where you fish. One is in Shell Lake, the other is at the Totogatic County Park.
Hayward isn't too far away and has lots of great shopping (an old fashioned candy store and a gourmet popcorn place!), a winery, nice restaurants, and of course the Fishing Hall of Fame with the giant Muskie!
Kathy and Jason were both very helpful, answering questions giving tips. We really enjoyed our stay at their beautiful quiet chalet!"
