"My husband and I stayed at the Farmhouse Retreat during our weekend stay for the Spooner Rodeo.
We have stayed at several VRBO rentals before and we both agreed that we have been most impressed with the Farmhouse Retreat! Diane and Richard met us at the house upon arrival. This is the FIRST time anyone has ever actually met us at the property. We found this very welcoming and also gave us a little more sense of comfort as they showed us where everything was, instructions, and recommendations for eating out,etc even though all this information was typed out in a binder! They are extremely genuine and friendly. We loved how much family history was in the house and can feel how much they value family.
As many others have written on their reviews, pictures do NOT do justice to the farmhouse! It is VERY clean and tastefully decorated. There is just about EVERYTHING you can think of in the kitchen (even things we do not have at our own house!) plenty of towels in the bathroom, linens are provided, comfortable beds, blankets, you name it, its there. This gave us that "at home" feel. We loved eating our meals out on the patio/picnic table and just sitting outside to watch the birds/enjoy the peace and quiet. We HIGHLY recommend the Farmhouse Retreat. You will not find a gem like this, for the price anywhere else.
Thank you, Diane & Richard, for sharing your farmhouse for our Spooner Rodeo weekend! We will be back!"

"We stayed in your island home mid September 2014. The fall colors were beautiful, peak I'm pretty sure. Your home is very private, very clean inside and suitable for large groups. We had 5 adults and 2 day visitors and we were more than comfortable. We enjoyed the campfire and of course the fishing. I now have a big fish story to tell and the fish that got away gets bigger and bigger everytime I tell my tale. One evening the lake was like glass and we caught one panfish after another right off the dock. Such fun! We did notice that the kitchen could use some more baking dishes, casseroles etc. Also some wine glasses would be nice. The dishwasher didn't work, but we had several dishwashers along that were willing to pitch in. The pontoon was easy to operate and we enjoyed a cruise around the lake, and docking wasn't a problem even though we aren't experts. Overall we had a wonderful time and thank the owners for sharing their home."

"We were looking for an escape from the noise of the city and really found it here! Very secluded and quiet - perfectly private and serene. It was great to hear the crickets, birds, and coyotes once-in-awhile. We even saw a black bear in the woods nearby. We loved it and will definitely come back again."

"My family has been vacationing in the Hayward Lakes area since 1979 and this home is our favorite place by far.
Everything is first class and with our children and grandchildren there is plenty of room for everyone to have their
own space, Great view of lake and lots of fun water activities to do. We are planning on returning next year"
