  • Our Annual Grouse Hunting Destination

"We have been staying in the Ruffed Grouse Lodge for a number of years for our annual grouse hunt and love it. The lodge is large enough for several couples to be comfortable, and the amenities are first rate. It's the kind of quality you seldom see in a North woods setting. John and Linda Reardon are the best. They bring an urban sophistication from a prior life, and their sense of service, design, and detail is unparalleled. If you are lucky, as we have been, you will become friends and hang out together, sharing your personal and family experiences over dinner...looking forward to another happy reunion next year."

  • Vacation paradise

"Thank you Ron,Amy and Malibu our week vacation almost didn't happen because of a med emergency but we made it and it was absolutely the best. No hot flashes for a week,a miracle , watching my hubby and Malibu fish ,priceless, the weather was awesome even may have been a bit chilly at night but that is what an evening fire at the beautiful fire pit is for,the cabin is always so clean, comfortable has everything you need! Our three little dogs were welcome again and had a blast. We can't thank you enough! The swimming, grilling out, fishing in the rowboat, hiking at Copper Falls, a vac we needed and thanks again Ron,you are truly a wonderful host, your mom and dad can be proud!"

  • The place to make memories

"My children and I vacation at this house whenever possible. It is an inviting, warm house on a beautiful lake. Far enough away to truly relax and be with each other. Close enough to Duluth, Hayward and other areas of interest for fun day trips. The kitchen, living areas and amenities are first rate. It’s called a cabin and is nicer than many residences. This is a place to create many happy memories including climbing trees, bonfires, s’mores for breakfast, swimming in the lake, water fights and water balloon tosses, playing games, tie dying and watching movies all day when it rains. My children are world travelers and have been places such as Versaille, Berlin, Mexico, London. The memories they talk about whenever we get together? The critter in the canoe, the fireworks over the lake, kayaking around the shore, catching frogs and pushing mom off the pier. Their favorite place to be? Up North at John and Judy’s cabin relaxing, having fun and making new memories!"

  • aptly titled: a magical, handcrafted cabin

"great place. our stay was regrettably short, but rewarding nevertheless. the exceptionally comfortable cabin is well designed, well built and thoughtfully furnished by owners with a "good eye". the space of the cabin is intricate and subtle at the same time, and exactly what a place like this should be. we hope and expect to return soon for a longer stay."
