  • AMAZING HOME!!!! Perfect family vacation destination

"We stayed at this beautiful home with our two young boys (ages 4 and 13 months), my parents, my husband's parents, and his brother and sister-in-law and there two girls (ages 2 and 2 months) and we LOVED it!!!!! The home is large and cozy...we all had plenty of space to hang out together or to spread out as needed; the decor was beautiful; was stocked with everything we needed for our stay. We loved using the screen porch, deck, and fire ring each night. The game card table and bar area were very fun as well! We rented a pontoon for one day from M&M Rental and was awesome! We did not have much luck fishing but did check out the Angry Minnow Brewery and the winery downtown...both were excellent! We did bring baby gates for the stairs and I would recommend that to anyone with young children. Otherwise almost everything we needed as already there and made our stay very enjoyable! The owners were GREAT to work with, answered all our questions, and came to fix a cabinet as soon as we let them know it was broken. Overall we had a FABULOUS time and we all hope to go back to this beautiful home either together again or with family/friend groups....we'd like to try it out in the winter too! I would highly recommend this vacation home to anyone that enjoys the outdoors, lakes, and north woods!"

  • Perfect for us

"My family and I had a great stay at RGL. It was Mom and Dad, three kids (6,3,4months) and Grandma and Grandpa. The lodge had everything we needed to cook all our meals and it was great being able to forage for vegetables and eggs on site! We enjoyed several walks across the property to Elk River. What we liked inside the house: In the main living area, there are 3 separate areas. This allowed for us to spread out when needed. The master bedroom is downstairs and very private - a nice touch for grandparents. Grandpa enjoyed the nice tv and satellite to keep up with Brewers and Packers. Kids enjoyed the selection of movies. What we liked outside the house: We made great use of the canoes and kayaks. One day I paddled with my daughter through the chain of lakes and down the Elk River to the sister property. The next day back with my son. My son caught a nice Northern on the way back - not bad for a 3 years old! I caught a nice bass going through the tunnel. My daughter and grandparents killed it with John Carlson, fishing guide. The kept abut 30 crappies and caught many more. Fishing was not great from the pier this time of year. Mostly overcast the whole week, but we still had a great time. Still got in fires at the fire pit and swimming on the beach. It is very quiet on this side of the chain of lakes. Many mornings/days we were the only ones on the lake. Not until the last day (muskie tournament) did we hear motorboats buzz by in the early morning. Loons all around as well as eagles and other great birds. Linda and John were great hosts - they showed us the property and the Elk River. Truly nice people that clearly have a passion for developing and running an awesome Northern Wisconsin get away. We felt at home on the property and it was great having the kids run free. Our kids are very good with animals so they loved visiting the chickens several times a days. We will look to go back again and consider the 2 person cabins for time we can get away without the kids."

  • Perfect Rental

"Myself, my sister, her boyfriend, and our two friends all stayed at this cottage at the end of August. We had so much fun on our vacation and made so many memories in this perfect cottage. Paul, the owner, was so kind and ensured we had everything we needed for our 4 day vacation. The yard was big enough for yard games, the porches surrounded 3 sides of the cottage and made enjoying the beautiful weather so easy and comfortable. It was so close to the downtown area, that we rarely had to take our vehicle anywhere on the island. Everything you could possibly think of needing on a vacation was already supplied in this adorable cottage. Even with the huge thunderstorm on our last night there, the cottage was the perfect place to be. We were able to walk right down the block to a beach overlooking Lake Superior and watch the huge waves crashing. It was so amazing to see. The only suggestion I have is to bring DVDs or CDs, as they have a TV and DVD player as well as a CD player. We had a couple CDs in the car that we listened to on repeat while we were outside day drinking and playing yard games by the fire. And DVDs would've came in handy the night it stormed. I have not a si gle complaint about this rental and WILL be back as often as possible, as long as Paul is the owner! :)"

  • Peaceful Northwoods Escape

"We stayed for a week with 6 adults and 2 kids (11 and 8) all family, and did not feel cramped. 1 bathroom did not cause any problems, and the house had really everything we needed. It was close to town, close to golf, and the Leinenkugels brewery was a must do! Only negatives were the steps to go down to the lake (enough to make sure you had what you wanted to take down!) and the lack of an area to really swim by the dock (shallow, but lots of weeds). Fishing was slow, but that's fishing. Used the kayaks, which was great as the "small" part of the lake is very quiet and calm, with little power boat activity. Was a little disappointed to find that we could not rent a pontoon boat from the "Big" lake, as we would not be able to get it under the road separating the two parts of the lake. Deck was fantastic, lots of chairs and space, spent a ton of time out there. Overall, very happy with the trip!"
