"We enjoyed our stay at Lion Downe, the property is unique and comfortable, the views are amazing and we enjoyed watching the eagles soar overhead. We had nice weather, so that was a plus as there is much to enjoy in the surrounding areas. A very nice time!"

  • Great experience!

"10 of us stayed for along weekend. It was better than we had anticipated. Wonderful home, fully equipped, beautiful surroundings. We wish there was more to do (hiking, adventure, etc) around the area, it is quite far from any of those activities, but a great place to stay with a larger group. Difficult to figure out the sound system, movie system, and TV as instructions are not provided, but we got most of it to work. No WiFi, so no need to bring computers for internet access unless that is changed from today's date. Very appreciative of the space and the home to use! We will rent again and perhaps take on a time when the weather will permit use of the lake too! THANKS!"

  • Anniversary stay

"First I want to say that Paul the owner was very friendly and helpful. We were able to contact him and he always contacted us back for any questions we had. Secondly, this house was simply old fashionably cozy! There was nothing but privacy at the home and backyard as it is very secluded. There was a nice clean yard with a campfire pit and wood at your convenience in a shed and a fire place in the living room. The upstairs had two rooms divided by a curtain. Honestly if I brought my young children I would still feel like I had plenty of space. We brought out two dogs with and they loved the freedom to run around in the back yard with us without worry of being hit by a car or in someone else's way. The pricing is reasonable for for the home setting and I would come back again. Now mind you it's not a 5 star hotel but it's a very old fashioned home and was nice to get a sense of how homes were built once upon a time."

  • Wonderful Family Trip

"We loved the Loghome on a semi-private island. We had 13 people and we fit in the 5 bedroom home just fine. There is a large master bedroom with bath upstairs with a small loft space outside it. Two nice size bedrooms on the main floor w bath and two large bedrooms in the finished basement w bath. Also plenty of room in the living room and the basement to set up a air mattress etc.. There is a lot to do at the lake home, there is swimming, boating, canoeing, hiking, volleyball / badmintton court, ping pong table and a closet full of board games. The home has a great deck and huge screened in porch, you feel like you are outside without the bugs. There is a large firepit with all the wood you could want to burn, right off the deck. The lake is a short walk down a path and is very shallow and clean, great swimming. The swimming beach is fine sand with zero entry, good for little ones, and located across from the beach, about 200 yards is a sand bar. We had a great time swimming out to the sandbar and hanging out for the day with little kids and everyone, about 3' deep with smooth sand bottom. Things to know about the cabin - the cabin is NOT close to a real grocery / liquor store, so plan on stopping before you get there or bring the food/booze with you - Sponner is about a 25minute drive away with a real grocery. Bilik's Amusement Center was a fun afternoon of go-karting and minigolf, near Spooner. I can't recommend the place more, really great house and it is isolated enough to feel as you are alone in the woods. If you are looking for a place to just hang out and watch the world go by this is the relaxing retreat for you. We loved it and will be back someday."
