"If your idea of fun is vacationing on the edge of a lake and hearing the water waves lapping at the rocks on the bank as you sleep, look no further. This resort is like a hidden gem. The photos of this place do not do it justice.
The owner, Frank, is very friendly and helpful. He is available when needed but does not hang around and make a pest of himself. Thanks for being such a good host, Frank.
The 3 levels of the boathouse allow the guests to view the beautiful Kegonsa lake. Our extended family spent 6 nights in the boathouse and never felt crowded yet were able to hang out all together in the living room with a place for everyone to sit. We were also able to seat 8 at the dining room table the night we had guests over for dinner. The kitchen is well stocked and appliances work well.
If I had to make a suggestion the only recommendation would be to possibly use some type of "black out" drapes in the living room as the closed mini-blinds do very little to hold back the heat in the morning. However, we were not hindered at all by this. Thanks for making this rental available. Our family enjoyed our stay immensely and will be returning.

"Each year we rent a house with another family to celebrate the Holidays. We look for something that has good kitchen facilities so we can cook, some entertainment options so the kids don't get bored and enough rooms to accommodate everyone. This year we rented Big Valley Ranch and for the first time ever we are considering going back again next year. We own vacation rentals as well so we are somewhat picky, but, (we like to think) reasonable. Here are the Pros and Cons from my viewpoint:
Outstanding space for game room. Pool, Foosball, Darts, Jukebox, ample seating for 10 in that area as well for board games and, of course, the bar that is seen in the pictures.
Kitchen was big enough for 3 people to be working around each other in it. All kitchen supplies we needed were provided.
Directv was available in both the bar area and the living area.
Nice seating area for the living room that was able to comfortably seat 10
2 "roll-a-ways" (folding beds) were provided upstairs so each kid could have their own bed.
4 bathrooms in the house and 1 "outhouse" that the kids loved.
There is both a grill and a hot tub on the deck (didn't use the grill) - Kids used the Hot Tub and they had fun.
Beautiful scenery and tremendous trails - we walked many of them and it was peaceful (but hilly)
The 2 "master" bedrooms had Queen size beds - I'd prefer Kings.
Overall the unit was in great condition (clean, stocked, etc.), however, the dishwasher was not working in the kitchen. Since there was a dishwasher in the bar area we were able to adjust, but that should have been fixed within 1 day in my opinion.
Foosball table had a broken/missing man - we made do without it, but it is one of the little things that you remember
About 1/3 of the CD selections in the Jukebox were missing. There were still many options and we loved using it, but by either removing those CD options or putting in new ones would really have a positive impact.
Overall the Cons are not deal breakers by any stretch - more of just suggestions to make the stay a perfect 5 star experience. Again, we typically like to explore different places, but this one just may have us coming back for more!"

"We just spent a long weekend at this home rental. There was lots of space... especially in the basement. Very clean with ample basic needs. Tried fishing with only a couple bites. We spent a lot of time outside with the kids/grandkids. There are two parks nearby; within walking distance. We went to the corn maze near Poynette, which was also lots of fun for adults and kids. Sunsets on the water were beautiful. Enjoyed a campfire one night.
Our get-away was short notice because we hadn't heard back from another one we were interested in. The owner here was quick in responding and working out the arrangements. I would recommend this to others!"
