  • Great weekend get away cabin!!!

"A wonderful place, very close to Chicago and Lake Geneva. Beautiful view of lake and property, very clean and comfortable. Would not recommend for more than 2 to 3 guests because house is small. Really enjoyed it and would like to return! Jack was very nice and greeted us, that is a good thing for everyone. The local grocery store a very short distance away has everything you would need, great meats too."

  • Above our Expectations

"We recently had a small military reunion at the Bunkhouse. The conversion of this historic property has been done to a very high standard. The interior is beautiful and spacious. Bathrooms and kitchen have higher grade fixtures. The large open space of the kitchen/dining/living room area allows everyone to be together. Quiet location, but Milwaukee is less than an hour away, and Port Washington only a few minutes. Would recommend to anyone who has a group wishing to get away together."

  • Amazing home!!

"My review is late, I apologize. My mom, her friends, my sister, and our friends spent a long weekend at this property last Labor Day weekend (8/2013). We had the best time! Thank you Jan and John for opening your home to us! This house is absolutely gorgeous with the perfect location on the lake and to town. We ate dinner in town one night at an Italian restaurant and the next night we went into downtown lake Geneva. There is so much space in this home it's perfect for large groups! The kitchen also had everything you we need; It felt like home! Thank you again! We hope to be back one day!"

  • Thanksgiving Getaway

"My parents were coming to visit for Thanksgiving and I live in the suburbs of Chicago, so I quickly decided we needed to have a Wisconsin getaway. All I can say is WOW - I am so glad we did! When we arrived, we actually decided to stay another night. I have two dogs - a Bernese Mountain dog and a french bulldog so it is not easy to find accommodating rental homes. Gene was happy to accept us with the understanding if the dogs ruin anything that we replace it. This was a non-issue. I was able to block off the upper deck staircase so my Bernese could sit outside and stare at the lake and the forest all day! The house is clean and feels like a true home. We loved the gas fireplace that is located right in the center family room that is attached to the kitchen/dining area. There is a large basement with a bar area and game area, but we didn't even wind up using the downstairs (probably due to the great views from the family room!). The kitchen is stocked with everything you would ever need - including various pots and pans/baking dishes (which was very useful when making Thanksgiving dinner). They left us a lovely gift basket to welcome us. Although it was winter and very cold, we walked around the area a bit. The house is up a private driveway off of a cul-de-sac, so it is very private. You can walk down to the lake, but we didn't due to some ice and snow (which melted on our last day). We loved the getaway - the holidays can be hectic with family, but the quiet, serene atmosphere really made it a wonderful holiday. My husband and I will definitely plan to come back - and my parents (who actually traveled from New York) agreed that we should make it an annual Thanksgiving celebration."
