  • Fun Girls Get Away Weekend!

"I recently stayed at this location for a girl's get away weekend. My guests and I had a great time! The house is very clean, organized, and has a great floor plan that allowed all of my guests to feel at home. The owners were a pleasure to work with and take a lot of pride in their property by keeping it clean and updated. My Mom, who was with us for our weekend, brings all kinds of cleaning products wherever she travels (she's a clean nut!), but the products she brought never left the car! All of my guests commented on how nice the property was and how comfortable they all were! Thank you John and Jan for trusting people to share in the gem you have found and maintain in Elkhorn, Wisconsin!!!! Hope to return again in the future!!!"

  • Absolutely Amazing!!

"Me and 11 friends wanted a weekend getaway in Wisconsin, and after looking at listing after listing, I found this lovely lake house on VRBO. By a pure stroke of luck, the weekend we wanted was open and I signed the contract without hesitation. Upon my arrival, my jaw dropped - the pictures do no justice in showing the beauty of this place! The house was so spacious, the two decks were perfect for lounging, and the back yard was everything I could have hoped for. Our group enjoyed a weekend of kayaking, sitting around the awesome fire pit, grilling for every meal, and playing games without a care in the world. My only regret is that I could not stay for a whole week! To quickly summarize a few other points: the house was very comfortable and very clean, the linens were plentiful, the selection of games in the basement was great, and we really appreciated the amount of cookware in the cupboards! Thank you Cathy for renting us your lovely lake house, and also for being so great on the phone and via email. I will definitely try to make it up there again!"

  • Absolutely Perfect!

"The Castle of the Cedars was simply perfect for our sister's weekend. My sisters came to visit from the Washington, D.C. and Annapolis MD area and we simply fell in love with the house and it's location to the downtown Cedarburg area. We had beautiful weather for walking around and enjoyed coming back to the house at night to a warm fire and some great wine. This house is beautifully appointed with everything needed for a wonderful home away from home. We look forward to returning for another sister's weekend!"

  • Good summer escape

"Uncle Joe's is a great place for watching the lake activities -- for example, there was a sail boat regatta including 140 youngsters in their boats. We (two adults and our Labrador) spent many hours on the deck which the neighbors described as one of the best on the lake. Big Cedar is nice lake and is very near downtown Milwaukee (about an hour away) and Slinger and West Bend are much closer. West Bend has a Sendik's grocery which is very good The description was accurate and the photos showed the amentities correctly. master bedroom suite is very nice. Joe lives nearby and was helpful when we had questions or a special need. Neighbors are fun and helpful however very close. Cabin is part of a resort so don't expect solitude. There are country roads for walking your pet. If you are of limited mobility be aware that the cabin is accessible only by a series of steep steps and the cabin itself has numerous levels. Timmer's restuarant is across the lake and we hear there is a new spot opening soon called Padway's. Location allows daily trips to the EAA in Oshkosh."
