  • A Beautiful Stay

"My husband and I were looking for a weekend getaway in western Wisconsin for our "babymoon" before our first child was born. We ended up staying at Larry and Lu's and we couldn't have had a more wonderful time. The apartment is absolutely gorgeous, everything was very well-stocked, and the view out the big bay window was such a treat. Larry and Lu were very generous and attentive hosts. They invited us to come back once the baby is born and we very well might take them up on that! We loved that they were fine with us bringing our doggie, too. So many places have such strict rules about allowing children or pets and it was refreshing to deal with rentals owners who were so nice about it. The location is also ideal, as Sparta is only about an hour (at the most) within any of the best destinations in western WI."

  • Brenda

"We just had the most wonderful girls weekend. Once you go around the bend in the road you enter paradise!!!! When entering the cottage I was in disbelief that anything could be so beautiful. It was equipped with everything we needed. This property has so much to do. There were 5 of us, with all different interests but each found things to do. We all left ecstatic and may I say even relaxed and revived!!! The owner was very accommodating. He was so interesting and friendly. I think all 5 of us consider "Loren"our new best friend! I would think this private. little retreat would make a fantastic anniversary, birthday or Christmas gift. I know I have been going through my Christmas list all ready. Definitely 5 stars from me!"

  • Very Nice!

"We stayed for a long weekend in June. The place was extemely clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy so we did not get on the lake. The marina is just down the road so it would have been a nice location for access. Overall, the cabin is wonderful. I would say the only downside is that there is not a second bedroom. There is plenty of space for a group but the beds in the loft were very small. There are futons and such but they are in the main living area so it would just be nice for each couple to have their own private room, still a great place. Tim and Jane were awesome to work with, super friendly and informative. I loved the tips on places to go (especially helpful on a rainy weekend). We did manage a hike on Maiden Rock that was beautiful. We shopped and ate in Stockholm, went to the Nelson Creamery, the Eagle Center in Wabasha and really enjoyed the Villa Bellezza winery. Lots to do and see, hopefully next time it will be sunny!"

  • Comfortable spacious cabin in a peaceful setting

"We rented this cabin for a quick reunion among young families. We found it to be the perfect place to unplug from our devices. Our nature-loving kids had a blast running around the spacious yard, exploring Sugar Creek and trying out the refreshing spring-fed swimming hole out back. The adults had fun grilling each night and the kids enjoyed roasting marshmallows for S'Mores in the fire pit. In the morning we got our exercise by walking up the road to the top of the mountain…what a view!! As we were only there for a short weekend, we didn't get to try out biking or canoeing but I could certainly see that it would be a blast. The house was wonderfully appointed with all the utensils, pots and pans we needed, including a working coffee maker! The large kitchen with generous island was a pleasure to cook in. There were plenty of comfortable beds for our crew along with all the blankets we needed. The kids enjoyed unwinding to Disney movies in the basement at the end of each night, what a great collection! The owner was wonderful to work with and very prompt in seeing to any detail. Thanks again for opening your warm and inviting home to us!"
