"We just had the most wonderful girls weekend. Once you go around the bend in the road you enter paradise!!!! When entering the cottage I was in disbelief that anything could be so beautiful. It was equipped with everything we needed. This property has so much to do. There were 5 of us, with all different interests but each found things to do. We all left ecstatic and may I say even relaxed and revived!!! The owner was very accommodating. He was so interesting and friendly. I think all 5 of us consider "Loren"our new best friend! I would think this private. little retreat would make a fantastic anniversary, birthday or Christmas gift. I know I have been going through my Christmas list all ready. Definitely 5 stars from me!"

  • Beautiful Home on the Mississippi

"My husband and I have been to this beautiful home three times and plan to go back next year again. It is perfect for us and we love the whole area. I especially love the sunsets almost every evening. I have taken at least a dozen pictures that I can look at all winter. The house itself is great. It is always clean and perfect. It has a fireplace for cold weather and it has an outdoor fire pit for enjoyment. The Jacuzzi is a real plus. We could even watch the sunsets from it. The kitchen is great. It has everything a cook could possible want. I did a lot of cooking and found everything I needed. The trains do pass in back of the house but we love trains and they did not bother us. In fact there was a week with few to no trains and we missed seeing them. There are three pub/restaurant within walking distance. There is a market right down the block that carries a little of everything if you forget to bring something you need. There is a dock and fishing pier down the street for fisherman. There are some good restaurants nearby. Lansing Iowa. about ten miles away has several eating places. The Great River Road House in De Soto, Wi. about 7 miles away has a great view of the Mississippi, great food and pizza. This house is just a great get away spot."

  • Spacious and Comfortable

"I was enjoyed my stay in this very spacious apartment that includes the entire second floor of the house. Everything I needed was there. I wanted to significant spend time writing and found the sunporch to be a perfect spot. (I just needed to move a higher table in on which to put my laptop.) The porch has a ceiling fan and was very pleasant to sit in for hours with temperatures in the low 80s. Plenty of tall trees provide shade. The neighborhood is very quiet and it is a very convenient location to shopping, running, restaurants, the Mississippi River, and more."

  • Wonderful Cabin Getaway

"My wife and I have stayed at several VRBO rentals over the years, and this place is one of the nicest. The cabin is spotless and well equipped. We brought our black lab Mackie who had a wonderful time swimming, fetching, chasing squirrels, and even playing with the owner's black lab one day. Not many places will accept pets these days, so we were fortunate to find this place. It is also very close to where my daughter lives, so we got to spend some time with her. I caught a nice 31" blue catfish our first night there, and missed several others. We had several campfires down by the river while fishing at the same time. There are tons of places to go and things to do in the area. Also good places to eat such as Red Pines on Lake Onalaska and the Hungry Point Bar and Trempealeau Hotel in Trempealeau (8 miles away). The only thing that is not obvious from the pics and description is the hill down to the river is bigger than it looks. You will get a bit of a workout going back and forth, which is a good thing. It's a great place and we had a great time. Will definitely go back."
