  • A nice, comfortable home close to everything in Asheville

"Over the past 3 summers I have spent 7 months at this house. It is a comfortable, well maintained home. It is not a fancy showplace, but a place you feel you can relax in and enjoy. The galley kitchen is easy to use and well equipped. The living room is big and the furniture comfortable. I have always felt at home in this place, not like a visitor just passing through. The home is close to so many things. It's a 5-10 minute drive to the entrance of the Biltmore Estates, Ingles, Biltmore Fitness, pharmacies, the east side Mall, theaters, downtown, a variety of restaurants and more. It's close to the entrances of East and West I-240 so it's easy to take day or weekend trips to the surrounding beautiful areas like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Hendersonville, the Carl Sandburg home, Hot Springs and Chimney Rock. The home is located in a quiet wooded area and sitting out on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and listening to the birds is just wonderful. Even in the summer the home doesn't get really hot as it gets plenty of shade. This past summer I didn't have to use the window A/C units at all, I just kept the windows opened and enjoyed the fresh air. The owners are wonderful to work with. If something needs to be fixed, they take care of it. They are always working to improve the home and each time I arrive I find different little touches that show how much the owners work to make it a comfortable home for guests. If you are looking for a glitzy showplace, this isn't the home for you. But if you are looking for a comfortable, well equipped home close to everything in Asheville - this is a great option to consider. I really enjoy the time I spend here."

  • Memorable beautiful weekend

"We loved this house. The owner was great to deal with. The views were wonderful and the home itself is very pretty and tastefully decorated. Hearing the ocean so close was relaxing. It was very convenient with an infant. We enjoyed learning how to surf fish and the water temps were still warm enough to jump in. We loved Surf City and will probably return to this house next year. Our surprise bonus was our final evening sitting on the upper deck under what seemed like billions of stars."

  • The absolute best spot for seeing the Black Hills of South Dakota

"My husband, his sister and her spouse spent a whole week here in August. Very clean, and everything was provided: more cooking utensils than you could possibly need, a microwave, washer & dryer (and detergent), large frig, coolers we used to take cold drinks along for the day - everything. All you need to bring along is your clothing and toothbrush. The whole cabin is decorated in a rustic décor, complete with elk head mounted above the fireplace. There is plenty of parking, even if you have a trailer. Behind the cabin/house is a 40-yard mowed path to the Michelson Trail, and great Rails-to-Trails project that goes 109 miles. I walked most mornings, and saw lots of deer, turkeys, and one woman saw a coyote. The scenery is beautiful! The cabin is ten minutes max to Custer State Park, 15 minutes to Crazy Horse Monument, half an hour to the Mammoth Site, and about an hour from Sturgis. We were there the week after Sturgis, and all the shops in Custer had their t-shirts reduced quite a bit. Be sure to stop in at the owners grocery store, and right across the street is my favorite, "A Walk in the Woods", with the prettiest restrooms I've ever seen. The pizza shop right down town was terrific, with lots of seating outside when the weather is nice. The only negative was no internet, but my brother-in-law brought along a device that enabled us to get on each day. Good cell phone reception for Verizon users. Having two full-sized bathrooms was wonderful, and there was plenty of sleeping space for at least 7, not including 3 couches and two recliners. The folks in the community were extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!"

  • Wonderful location! Spacious house

"We were a group of 7 adults and 2 children and had a great time in this house. It is in an excellent central location in Door County and has a walking path that takes only minutes to a BP with mini-mart--we always seemed to be running out of milk. Bedrooms are spacious and we were especially impressed by the huge master bath shower and double sinks. Fast internet, great cable TV connection. Well-equipped kitchen makes it easy to eat in for most meals. Fine assortment of dinnerware/glasses, pots/pans, serving bowls for a crowd. Our grandsons were thrilled to see a doe wander through the back yard and we kept watch for a gorgeous blue jay in the trees off the fire ring. We hope to return again next year."
