  • Breath taking views!

"The views of the ocean were incredible. We loved the peaceful beach and access to it was only a few steps away. We enjoyed reading in the living room by the picture window. However, when we got there, the window was covered in bird poop. My husband had to climb out on the side of the deck to clean it (which took quite a bit of effort and ingenuity as it was a large window!). We also felt that the kitchen needed some serious updating. The stove was extremely old and took forever to cook anything. The wifi also did not work, but that was not a big issue for us. The view and location were what made this rental worthwhile."

  • What a find for a crowd!

"There's nothing like this place for a relaxing annual family reunion. We went with four families including 7 kids between 15 and 21- most said it was our best vacation ever. And this is a crowd that prefers beach vacations (NC Outer Banks). The house is like a luxury hotel but on a quiet finger of a huge lake. We swam across "finger" to state park - nice hiking there. Boathouse has canoe and commercial-grade 4-seat paddle boat. We rented a 28' pontoon boat for a day to explore Lake Hartwell. Explored several islands. Basked on beaches with fish coming right up to us... But back to the house: grounds are beautiful. We fished, had campfires on lakeshore twice under fantastic star canopy. House has high-end finishes and appliances (maybe a little too high-tech - better instructions for the cooktop would help), huge bedrooms, nice baths. Dining area seats 16 not counting additional seating at the adjacent kitchen bar. Two attic dorms are great for kids, and though they don't have doors, acoustics weren't a problem - the walls and doors to the other bedrooms are very soundproof. That said, living room was so big that it was sometimes hard to hear. We joked that it must have been built by the inventor of Windex due to all the glass. Terrific huge screened porch, several decks (with grille) for readings, conversation. We got a lot of use from separate screened hot tub room with piped-in music. Impressive tree swing at edge of lake. The posted photos don't do it justice - I sent Steve (owner) a few more to add to website. Not many other young adults in the area meant we spent more time with each other - a blessing in disguise. Steve was great. When he was away, he had his very nice neighbor stop by to see if we needed anything. My only hesitation in recommending it for families with small kids is the water being so close - just keep an eye on them. "Downtown Café" in Lavonia was excellent. Very much enjoyed visit to Greenville for a day - excellent restaurants, nice (if small) downtown, wonderful downtown waterfalls and park. We never got to Anderson. Overall, we were just too busy enjoying the property and the week just flew by - before we knew it, the it was time to leave, but filled with lots of photos and great memories."

  • A clean, comfortable and wonderfully relaxing place to stay!

"We were looking forward to our trip to Door County all summer and were very excited to find the Cozy Cabin-- It is very conveniently located off of hwy 42 close to Fish Creek, Ephraim and Penninsula State Park. It is quiet, very clean and very well stocked with everything we needed (games, puzzles, maps and area info, firepit and grill, kitchen essentials) and even a few things we forgot (paper plates and coffee filters!) and didn't expect (space for the kids to run around and a well marked path around the outside of the property that my little ones loved to explore!) We loved waking up every morning looking out into the woods! At night we heard coyotes and owls and during the day we saw turkeys and deer! A great relaxing place to stay! The only problem we had was that I did not realize that the upstairs bedrooms were completely open to the floor below (a full loft experience) so all noise from upstairs went downstairs and adults wanting to hang out downstairs at night kept the kids awake upstairs. Maybe I read the description wrong, but it did make the evenings a little more complicated getting everyone to sleep! For anyone traveling with kids-- the spiral staircase is VERY narrow and steep! The kids figured it out and everything worked out fine, but definitely be aware of who is upstairs and their ability to get up and down safely. Only other tiny complaint--- the welcome card was written to someone else:( Oh well!"

  • Beautiful and peaceful

"Great place! I loved it. I stayed with my family and friends. The owner (Dennis) is really kind and accommodating. The house is really comfortable (especially if you plan on cooking there) and it's only about 40 minutes from the park. The photos posted here don't do justice to the view you get from the porch. There is little light pollution during the night, so you can checkout the night sky if the clouds are sparse. Just be careful with locking the doors; not all of them are consistent. I got locked out once, but Dennis was kind enough to drive in the middle of the night to give me the spare key. I'm not surprised everyone has given a 5 for this place. It's perfect for a family getaway. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit the park."
