  • Perfect Easter vacation

"This home is in a wonderful location in KI. Past the second gate but still very close to everything. The Sanctuary is right around the corner and a very short bike ride. The house is very clean, comfortable and has everything you would need, including beach chairs and toys. It is on a small cul-de-sac which gives children a great place to "warm-up" on their bikes. We saw several deer come up to the driveway from the fairway behind the house. There is a wonderful screen porch with a nice space to eat that overlooks the fairway. It is very peaceful but still convenient to everything. The beach is a short bike ride away. The owners are great to work with! We hope to be able to stay there again!"

  • Perfect location, comfortable condo and everything we needed for fun!

"Aloha! This was our first trip to Maui - what a way to spend Christmas! We were very happy to find a ground-floor unit so close to the beach and the pool. Larry was easy and pleasant to work with and everything went off without a hitch. I was thrilled when we walked in the door for the first time to see a lovely, comfortable place to call home for the next 8 nights. This condo had everything we needed - a folding foam for the baby to sleep on, towels, shampoo, that first cup of coffee the next morning, washer/dryer & HD TVs with lots of channels. My husband was happy to not have to miss the big NFL game. The beds were comfortable and the decor and furnishings set the tone for the perfect beach vacation feel. This unit is close to everything - a parking space steps from your door, a short stroll to the pool and just a few more steps to the beach and ocean. I loved waking up every morning and watching the sun rise over the bay. My daughter loved the swimming pool and my son loved smearing sand from head-to-toe on the beach. Maalaea Bay is close to everything! We went on a whale watching tour and a whale surfaced so close to our boat we all felt the spray. We saw the Sunset Luau at the Grand Wailea Hotel that was spectacular! Breakfast at Kihei Caffee was delicious and fun and we enjoyed strolling through the Aquarium. The Maui Tropical Plantation was beautiful and I found most of my souvenirs/mementos there. With small kids, it was nice to have everything within walking distance or just a short drive away. Thank you for making our trip a Christmas to remember!"

  • Comfortable one-story home, GREAT kitchen... BUT READ THE CONTRACT!

"Without too much difficulty, we were able to get the landlord to AMEND the UNFAIR terms in the "Fill-in-the-Blank" rental contract that he proposed. FAIR WARNING: READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN (details below). This very comfortable home is located in "Tahoe Donner"--a very nice alpine development--everything up-scale. Wonderful facilities for people seeking recreational opportunities (golf, skiing, etc.). For our family reunion of 25 relatives (staying in three different houses), we rented a Tahoe Donner Association pool, able to accommodate 50 people, for 2 1/2 hours (with two lifeguards) for $150. A VERY nice pool facility. What a deal! This one-story home is on a quiet street. Although the lots are narrow, from the comfortable, wide deck on the back of the house other homes were just glimpses through the very thick and beautiful trees. Very lovely! As indicated in our review title, the kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped: modern appliances and almost any kitchen tool or gadget you could imagine (among the best two kitchens of some twelve VRBO rentals in our experience). Since we prepared most of our meals, this was a big plus. The family room and master bedroom have ceiling fans. The other two bedrooms do not. For summer time, we HIGHLY recommend bringing portable fans for those two "fanless" bedrooms. (It would be very inexpensive for the landlord to install ceiling fans, but...). ABOUT THAT CONTRACT: It requires you to list by name all temporary tenants living there and would prohibit having other guests, even for dinner: "No other guests, visitors or persons are permitted." (Paragraph 4.) This is a big issue if your "unlisted" dinner guest is injured due to the landlord's negligence (e.g., an unsafe condition on the property). He could argue that it is your fault for having an unlisted guest. It requires that you pay a NON-REFUNDABLE "Reservation Fee" of $300.00. What is this? Although it requires a separate "Cleaning Fee" of $130.00, Paragraph10 also states that the "Premises will be delivered to Occupant [that's you, the renter] in a professionally cleaned condition..." "If Occupant does not return the Premises in the same condition, a(n) (additional) charge will be deducted from the security deposit." In other words, you pay twice if you don't leave it "professionally" clean. This rather strange "boilerplate" contract is published by the California Association of Realtors and is expressly designed to favor the landlord 100%."

  • Love at first sight

"Besides the cottage itself – everything was really comfortable, the beds were comfortable, it was very, very clean, and the view was great – you can’t say enough good things about the owners. We felt very welcomed, they’re great. If you can’t get along with these owners, you can’t get along! We came in the fall so the colors were beautiful, and of course the area is gorgeous. We had very crisp, cool nights and mornings, but felt very snug in the cottage. We had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. This is a very authentic, old fashioned cottage that has been improved with all the right updates, but without sacrificing the original feel. Highly recommend!"
