  • Great to Unwind

"Fantastic! Its been a wonderful week, and such a shame to have to come home & work. I really have to say I was so very impressed by the cottage. I have never seen a rental so very well equipped. I think the owners have thought of everything. We never wanted for anything. Its a credit to them. A car is essential but the location was ideal, only a few miles from town and yet all around was green countryside. The information pack provided was full and comprehensive. There is so much to do, so many places to see and visit, its almost impossible to get around them all in the brief holiday time. We were blessed with some wonderful weather. Our friends who travelled with us have never experienced such tranquillity and practicality. All in all the week has been a present to us all. Highly recommended"

  • Amazing!

"Your search for a place to stay in Gernville is over! Let me describe this enchanted place to you. You turn off the main road and snake your way up this hill dodging 8 foot wide redwoods. It seriously looks like your driving in a gnome village out of lord of the rings. Once I arrived "to one of the best houses on the street," my first words out of my mouth were "Oh My God I can't believe this!" The house is so nice and decorated really cute. The kitchen was very modern and nice. The shower had a rain head and was at least 5x5 feet. Oh and at night the "babbling brook," flowing under the house will sooth you right to sleep if the wine doesn't first! The location of the cabin was amazing. Everyday we drove to a new place. We did San Fransisco the first day, the ocean the next, and Napa the next day. It's about an hour of driving each way but the beautiful scenery makes it feel like 20 minutes. I did not want to come home to Texas after visiting this place. I would recommend babble on in one second to anyone thinking about going to this part of California!"

  • October 2014 Stay

"We loved the location of the house, so convenient for beach access. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay. Would make the same suggestion as previous guests, the dryer does not work properly, runs nonstop and does not dry clothes well. It also left black marks on several of the light colored clothes. Appears to be a permanent mark. A little disappointing that this has been a problem for several months and obviously not been fixed. We always enjoy our visit to Watercolor and did again in spite of the dryer."

  • Amazing location. Would stay again.

"4.5 stars. We enjoyed staying at Hibiscus House. If you go to the Big Island, you are missing out if you only stay near Kona. The location was perfect for exploring Volcano National Park, the tide pools right down the street and the natural beauty of the rainforest. Can't say enough about the beautiful and easy snorkeling 5 minutes away on foot. Be ready for an adventure, this part of the island is amazing, but not touristy-no resorts here! We rented the top floor of the house, and it was as shown in the pictures. There is no a/c but the house cools off when all the windows and doors are open. This lets in the natural breezes and also the sound of tiny coquis frogs loudly chirping at night. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. The sleeping arrangements worked for six of us, the kitchen was stocked with what you need to cook, and the huge lanai was my favorite part of the house. We utilized the large table on the lanai for every meal and coffee early in the morning. The kids spent time picking tropical fruits and playing in the warm tide pool in the yard. The house is carpeted (not the kitchen) and I wish it had tile instead. I don't think it was damp because we were careful to remove shoes and rain gear outside, but with the humidity, it just felt like it. That is a small suggestion for future updates, but it did not hinder our enjoyment or fun! We would stay here again."
