  • Comfortable one-story home, GREAT kitchen... BUT READ THE CONTRACT!

"Without too much difficulty, we were able to get the landlord to AMEND the UNFAIR terms in the "Fill-in-the-Blank" rental contract that he proposed. FAIR WARNING: READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN (details below). This very comfortable home is located in "Tahoe Donner"--a very nice alpine development--everything up-scale. Wonderful facilities for people seeking recreational opportunities (golf, skiing, etc.). For our family reunion of 25 relatives (staying in three different houses), we rented a Tahoe Donner Association pool, able to accommodate 50 people, for 2 1/2 hours (with two lifeguards) for $150. A VERY nice pool facility. What a deal! This one-story home is on a quiet street. Although the lots are narrow, from the comfortable, wide deck on the back of the house other homes were just glimpses through the very thick and beautiful trees. Very lovely! As indicated in our review title, the kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped: modern appliances and almost any kitchen tool or gadget you could imagine (among the best two kitchens of some twelve VRBO rentals in our experience). Since we prepared most of our meals, this was a big plus. The family room and master bedroom have ceiling fans. The other two bedrooms do not. For summer time, we HIGHLY recommend bringing portable fans for those two "fanless" bedrooms. (It would be very inexpensive for the landlord to install ceiling fans, but...). ABOUT THAT CONTRACT: It requires you to list by name all temporary tenants living there and would prohibit having other guests, even for dinner: "No other guests, visitors or persons are permitted." (Paragraph 4.) This is a big issue if your "unlisted" dinner guest is injured due to the landlord's negligence (e.g., an unsafe condition on the property). He could argue that it is your fault for having an unlisted guest. It requires that you pay a NON-REFUNDABLE "Reservation Fee" of $300.00. What is this? Although it requires a separate "Cleaning Fee" of $130.00, Paragraph10 also states that the "Premises will be delivered to Occupant [that's you, the renter] in a professionally cleaned condition..." "If Occupant does not return the Premises in the same condition, a(n) (additional) charge will be deducted from the security deposit." In other words, you pay twice if you don't leave it "professionally" clean. This rather strange "boilerplate" contract is published by the California Association of Realtors and is expressly designed to favor the landlord 100%."

  • Girls reunion

"I have just returned after a week's stay at this condo. It was a reunion with 5 other women that I graduated with. It is an awesome condo right on the beach. It was beautifully decorated, very spacious and near anything you would want or need. The owner was very kind and accommodating. I recommend this condo to Anyone and hope to make this my annual Florida condo. Absolutely loved it!"

  • Relaxing place, awesome view, good location

"2 weeks in St. Kitts of total relaxation and an awesome time. The suite (there are 2, hint: take Buena Vista), offers an awesome view of Frigate Bay and Nevis Peak. You can hear the splash of waves from the shore below, which makes it very relaxing. The suite is a fairly large studio, akin to a motel kitchenette suite. It more than suited our needs for the duration of our stay. What we truly loved from this studio was, that it was breezy, just open the patio door, a side window, the access door and it stayed cool (even in 30 degree weather). We even tried to sleep without the AC, but had to give up because of wild roosters in the nearby hills, they start singing at around 3:30AM and do not stop. Despite these roosters, the neighbourhood is quiet. We did not get to meet the owner in person, but he is genuinely interested in ensuring that your stay is an enjoyable one. He can easily be reached (maybe even too easy that the manager often got overlooked) and will provide complete information whenever requested. Also thanks to the manager and Rudy the handyman, they helped making our stay enjoyable. PROS: Roomy, breezy, quiet. Suite is reasonably well furnished. Big (new) fridge with a few goodies upon arrival. Washer and dryer proved useful (are reasonably new too) Reasonably close (on foot) to the South Frigate Bay watering holes CONS: Kitchen tools and utensils could use revamping and are limited. Recommendations for the upcoming traveller: Car is definitely needed (driving on the left of the road is fun!!!) Bring along some resealable plastic bags (ziploc type) of various sizes, well worth it. This suite is good for couples of all ages."

  • Hotel??? NOT Awesome House DEFINITELY

"We stayed the week of June 15 with three adults and three children. The house is awesome. It has everything you could possibly need during a vacation stay. The pool was great and when we weren't at Disney/Seaworld or water park, that's where the kids practically lived. Everyone loved their bed. They were super comfortable with nice linens. It's only 15 - 20 minutes from the parks and lots of shopping close by. We will definitely stay again. Thanks Beverley:) You were a joy to deal with on the house."
