"We have had some very nice luck using VRBO, this was no different. This charming
canal house located on the historic Herengracht Canal was perfect for my wife, daughter,
my 78 years young mother and me. First, the greeter, Franklin, was there right on time
to greet us. He was kind, helpful, and available if any problems arose (there weren't any).
The house was exactly as the pictures showed, charming, nicely decorated (with tulips, too:)
and clean. The kitchen was well equipped with a nice stove, toaster, coffee maker and refrigerator
(complete with ice trays) and there were sugar and spices along with coffee and tea already there
at the unit, nice! The unit was spacious, starting with a kitchen and living room and a
half bath on the 1st floor, (2nd floor for Americans). The 2nd floor had 2 very nice bedrooms, our bed
was very comfy, Mom said hers was too, and a full bath. The bathroom had a small shower stall and
regular size bathtub, plenty of towels, toilet paper, etc. The 3rd floor had another bathroom, bedroom
and utility/storage area where the washer and dryer kept. You should get Franklin to show you how they
work, my wife ran a load that took and half hours :D The stairs are what are typical in Amsterdam canal
houses, they are 300+ years old so they aren't friendly for those with mobility issues, but my 78 years
young mom had no problem, (I got the bags up all the stairs). The house is convenient to the trams, 5 min walk, which, btw, you should learn to use. They are the best way to get around. Plenty of nice bakeries, shops,
restaurants are all within walking distance and grocery store is just 2 blocks away, they have a pull cart for you to use in the unit! The area in general was very safe and I never felt uneasy at anytime. All in all, this is where I will stay again when I return, it was a great house and would recommend it to all."
