  • So clean it even impressed my Polish mother!

"My parents (who are 80+ years old), my husband, our dog and I recently stayed at this property to celebrate our son's White Coat Ceremony at UTMB. In addition, we had other family members stay around the corner at the Sugar Shack and its downstairs unit which are other properties managed by Ron and Tony. Between the three properties, we had 12 family members and two dogs in our group. On check-in, Ron told us about all the great places on the island that are popular with the locals. We hit many of his suggested places and felt like we had a true insider experience. The location is perfect. It is within walking distance of many restaurants and two blocks from the Sea Wall, on a relatively quiet street. The cottage is immaculate and incredibly well-stocked. My mother (the clean queen) kept going on and on about how clean the place is, especially because it is a dog-friendly property. Our original idea was to rent hotel rooms at the Galvez. Renting the cottage (and the other two properties) ended up being less expensive and so much of a better experience. There are three wonderful areas to congregate in the cottage--around the dining room table (which seats 6), on the sofa/chair/bench by the TV, and on the front deck (which gets a fantastic ocean breeze and has a view of the Gulf). We so appreciated all of these areas in which different configurations of family members could comfortably relax and converse. Again, there are so many thoughtful details from the decor to the wine fridge in the kitchen (a favorite of my mother's). My only concern was the stairs up to the cottage. I was really worried about my elderly parents not being able to navigate the stairs. They related that it was not an issue--there are two very sturdy railings and they could easily hold on to both railings while ascending and descending the stairs. In addition to family time, the location is perfect for all sorts of activities. We ran on the Sea Wall, biked to the Bolivar Ferry, took the dogs for walks on the beach, walked to Shy Cats (a restaurant with amazing French toast)... It was great that so many different groups could do so many different things without having to worry about transportation. We often stay at VBRO properties. I agree with a previous reviewer that this is one of the best places we have stayed for its location, price, amenities and space. We can't wait to go back!"

  • Highly Recommend!

"We rented this property in July 2014, after first staying in August 2011. We found the place to be exactly as we remembered. The house is still roomy and immaculate, the sweeping lawn to the cove is still beautiful and well maintained, and the overall vibe is still relaxing and peaceful. We can't say enough about the place. We plan to return as often as we can."

  • Actually. Three and a half stars

"I have stayed in many different condos in Kihei. There is usually a mix of good and bad for each unit, and this one is no different. The Bad. Nothing terrible. The love seat needs to be chucked, at least cleaned. It's very dirty. The floor lamp is broken. If you want to use the Murphy bed, all the other furniture has to be piled into the dining area. And the toilet paper holder needs replacing. All easy fixes, and easy to overlook when weighed against the discount price, the convenient location, and friendly staff at the office. Also, a few mornings we saw several dead gnat like bugs drowned in the water droplets in the tub. but those are probably from the work being done in the field next door that has some marshy water, and probably came in when the lanai door was open. Amazingly I did not see a single cockroach, and those show up in any unit in Maui from time to time. The Murphy bed in the living room was very cozy for me...I liked the firm mattress. (There are 2 murphy beds) The kitchen was very well stocked for any type of cooking. (Oh...the scissors kinda suck) The WiFi worked great, and the lanai was great for our meals. I also found the camp chairs in the box on the lanai, along with other extras. To sum it up, I have stayed in "better" more expensive condos, and I have stayed in worse equally priced condos. If you are on a budget, or just want your vacation dollars to spend on the activities that Maui has to offer and Not somebody else's fancy furnishings, then give this unit a try. I would not hesitate to rent this condo again."

  • slice of heaven

"We just returned from Holden Hands and thoroughly enjoyed it! Very easy walk to the beach and on a quiet road for walks or where kids can ride bikes. Fully equipped and outfitted with everything you need including everything from kitchen gear to paper towels and toilet paper. The best thing about this house is all the decks! There are at 2 decks on both the second and third floor of the house, all with a great view. It rained on our second day and napping in the hammock on the screened in porch was absolutely heaven! Kids really enjoyed playing on the pool table as well. All and all a great house and a great value! Owner great to work with and very friendly, prompt and accommodating! Do not hesitate for one second to book this place... just the R and R you need!"
