  • Perfect for Extended Stays

"If you are planning a lengthy stay in San Francisco/California, Nancy's cottage is the perfect base. First of all, it is located in a quiet, real neighborhood close to two shopping/restaurant districts (Chestnut Street and Union Street), has a bus stop one block away on Union Street (Buses 45 and 41 which take you downtown) and several blocks away on Chestnut Street (Bus 30 which takes you down to Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiradelli Square, etc), a local French neighborhood bistro one and a half blocks away for those times you just want to pop out for lunch/dinner, several local launderers/cleaners, and a corner shop one block away for quick grocery pick-ups. Add to this its proximity to the Marina and the Presidio and it's pretty much perfectly located. We did not have a car, but I believe other guests have and purchased temporary permits to park on the streets. Now let's talk about the cottage itself. Without gushing too much, let me just say that it is charming, comfortable, efficient, and spotless. The kitchen has top-notch appliances (stove, fridge, micro, toaster, dishwasher, toaster oven), and comes completely stocked with pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, and utensils, and even some pantry items like coffee, tea, olive oil, vinegar, flour, etc. The living room is comfortable with a TV, fireplace (gas), lovely garden views, and decorated with just enough of Nancy's travel souvenirs and art work that you feel like you are in a real home, but not so much that you feel like you are in someone else's personal space. There is a lovely dining area next to the kitchen that leads out to a small patio, perfect for morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Throughout the house are portable heaters for zone heating. We used them especially in the morning to take the chill off. There is also a front garden between the cottage and Nancy's lovely Victorian home that has a seating area. Upstairs is a generous bedroom with king-size bed (actually two twins pushed together), a huge closet area, and a very nice bathroom, complete with lots of good towels. All windows in the cottage look out on gardens. The cottage is located at the confluence of neighbors' gardens and they're all beautiful and lush! Add to all this Nancy's two adorable dogs (Sadie and Twyla), who greet you coming and going and often come to visit, and Nancy herself, who is most gracious and helpful, and you have a perfect base for a San Francisco/California visit. Highly recommended!!"

  • Wonderful spring break for a family

"We loved our stay at this condo. It was clean, roomy, and there was lots for everyone to do at the adjacent green valley resort. The view of the sunrise in the morning is spectacular!"

  • Good Choice

"The unit is clean and nice decorated, bed comfy, lots of amenities. We will be returning when in the area. It is difficult to find the building and unit so be sure to make your first visit during the daylight hours when the complex gate is open. A bit of a walk to a grocery store so a car or public transit is necessary."
