Parkway Farmhouse by Buffalo Mountain Getaway

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,500 sq ft
Property type house

About the property

Welcome to the Farmhouse, where the air is clean and the house is cozy!

Step into the country with this lovely farm house. Bring the family and enjoy! The Olde House was recently remodeled and is absolutely beautiful. It's spacious, yet very cozy. Located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and a few miles from town, this Farmhouse will allow you to be away from it all, but still within reach of the small town of Laurel Fork.

Remember, there's no place like home, except here.

IMPORTANT NOTES: As this is near a working farm and this house was built in the 1900's, there are times when the weather changes from warm to cold and back that flies tend to show up. We do our best to keep them at bay, but be aware there may be some to show up. We are glad to come and clean them up if you need us to. Our apologies.

Love this place so much we are planning on going back in October! Our friends can’t stop talking about the way the farmhouse was remodeled! Beautifully decorated and comfortable!

Cute farmhouse

  • 2 of 5

This home is spacious and has comfortable beds and plenty of linen. The area is beautiful and quiet. There was milk, orange juice and boxed cereal. Unfortunately there were only 2 k cups of coffee . The 2 stars are for things that weren’t so comfortable. When our party arrived, the home was teeming with flies. Each window was blackened by the number of swarming flies. The upstairs bathroom looked like a scene from The Amityville Horror. While the others were opening the unsealed windows I called the number listed in the house. I was told that “this is VA this time of year” . They did offer to come clean, despite having the house cleaned earlier in the day. Having to clean dead fly carcasses off your bed and out of your shoes isn’t listed in the suggested activities. The fireplace in the living area didn’t work. Luckily the heat did. My group had a great time and the house is large. Just know old homes don’t have screens, sealed windows, ice makers and bugs.

This place could not have been better! We hope to return!

  • 5 of 5

This charming house was absolutely perfect. The owners went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome. Because it is located a few miles from any store, they made sure that our first evening and morning we're perfect. They provided boxes of cereal, milk and juice, and a well-stocked Keurig station with cream, sugar and every sweetener.

It was a caring touch and very much appreciated. Our grandchildren were with us and saw a beautiful yard filled with lightning bugs each evening. We were greeted by rabbits and deer in the early morning. Our stay was refreshing and relaxing in every way. I would highly recommend this property. The only thing that you might want to know is that we had no cell phone service for AT&T. As we traveled into town, we could obtain cell signal about 10 to 15 minutes away. There was a satellite dish for TV channels and the house was well stocked with beautiful magazines and books. It could not have been more comfortable for us and we hope to return.

Just lovely -- but bad beginning

  • 1 of 5

The Parkway Farmhouse was just lovely -- and well - suited for a group of 8 women. We, however, had a very bad beginning to our weekend when we were e - mailed incorrect directions to the property. Instead of being directed to the farmhouse, we found ourselves at the Buffalo Mountain Getaway (which was about 45 minutes from the farmhouse.). Only one of us had cell phone service (Verizon), so we were lucky that the owners had posted their phone number in the "Getaway" property. The owner gave us sketchy directions to the farmhouse (via telephone), and she wasn't even sure of the house number. If we had not had an app via the one cell phone with service, I'm not sure we would have been able to find the farmhouse. And, we had to accomplish this feat in the dark during a heavy rainstorm!! Although we did get a weak apology (since she laid the blame for the incorrect directions on Home Away), we would have appreciated a phone call from the owner later on that evening to ensure that we had found the correct property but, sadly, that was not the case. (Keep in mind we were driving on narrow, unfamiliar roads in the mountains of Virginia.) The weekend was not ruined as the house was spacious, clean, charming, and wonderful. Bottom line . . . we recommend CALLING the owner prior to arrival so that our experience is not repeated.
