About Scott

We are a newlywed couple Scott and Kim whom live and work in St. Petersburg! We have lived in the Tampa bay/St. Pete area for over 9 years now. Originally, born and raised in New Jersey and Florida, but have discovered that St. Pete is our perfect home together. We both live very active and busy lifestyles, but still find time to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere that St. Pete has to offer. We enjoy being out on the water boating, fishing, or paddle boarding, and of course the beaches. We are very thankful to call St. Pete our home.

Great Condo!

I stayed here for 2.5 months during a travel nursing assignment. The condo is exactly as pictured, has a spacious bedroom and everything you may need including kitchen supplies, towels and linens. We often enjoyed beautiful views from the back porch of the water and palm trees. We loved going to the pool that overlooks Tampa Bay! The owners are very kind, accommodating and easily reachable. We loved our stay here :)

Hit AND Miss

What we love about the Waterside Coquina Key condo complex:

• Feels like a resort

• Oasis in the big city

• Palm trees everywhere

• Super quiet development

• Location is central to downtown

• 24-hour security in the complex makes you feel safe

• Nice amenities – yacht club, swimming pools, gym, etc.

What we love about the lake house unit we rented:

• Unit had very nice views of the lake and was surrounded by palm trees

• Large master bedroom with a lot of room

• Nice walk in closet

• Stacked washer and dryer in unit

• Dishwasher

• Office nook is a nice addition if you’re working

• One of the owners wrote a nice handwritten note welcoming us to the unit

What we didn’t like about our stay:

• Cable did not work throughout our stay and it was frustrating

• Smoker in the downstairs unit affected our stay (you can’t sit in the balcony unless you like the smell of cigarettes and the smoking smell is embedded in the condo hallway and in this unit as well (e.g., the bedroom and laundry room because smoke rises up)

• When we first arrived, we let the owners know that we wouldn’t be arriving until 2am but they didn’t tell security, so it took over 30 minutes to get into the complex – not a great way to start our trip

• Even thought it’s Florida, the bugs in the unit grow tiring after a while – especially the big palmetto roaches – yuk!

• Very teeny, tiny kitchen – too cramped with their stuff

• When we asked one of the owners to fix a plumbing, he later told us that he did it as a favor and was not aware that it was his responsibility so maintain the plumbing in his unit

• We stayed in this unit for four months and enjoyed the apartment so much we asked the owners if they were interested in selling the condo unit to us! Unfortunately, after the proposed offer, one of the owners was so offended at our offer, he became hostile towards us so we couldn’t wait to leave…

• Our agreement included up to a certain amount per month in electric and even though we were under that amount in total for our 4 month stay, the owner still tried to collect extra money from us!

Owner's Response: Let me begin with some of the comments both on the positive side & negative are fair, while others are simply not. At the conclusion of the 3 month stay they enjoyed it so much that they wanted to extend their visit another month; since we didn't have a tenant we moved to extend the lease. With the kitchen, it is small & I think the pictures accurately depict that. We try to supply any tenant with enough cooking supplies so they can prepare meals every night. Therefore I can see how they felt like there was a lot of stuff. Clearly the plumbing is on the owner to fix. I arranged a time that worked with their schedule & personally fixed the slight leak. It was a non issue. While at the unit I attempted to correct the cable issue. As I was on the phone with the cable company I learned the issue existed for entire block; not just the unit. Spectrum recently acquired Brighthouse & they were updating equipment. During this week, I would agree the cable was frustrating. We live 1/4 mile away and had a similar issue later that month. One of the neighbors does smoke and it does, on occasion, have a smell in the common area. Luckily the complex cleans the common areas on a Biweekly basis. The smell does NOT make it into the unit. If the smell did come into the unit, why would these tenants make an offer to purchase the unit? Yes this is Florida & April is a gorgeous month but if you keep the balcony door open all month bugs tend to make their way inside. We lived in this unit for 3 years & never had an issue. We also never left the door open all day. If you are a vacation renter, and enjoy the place you are staying PLEASE make an offer on the location. Most landlords would be interesting in hearing it; as were we. When/if your offer is far too low & declined make a higher offer if you're truly interested. Our tenant used the word hostile in this review. I think a more accurate description would be annoyed. But who wouldn't be annoyed with the 6 follow up emails telling the owner what you feel the value is worth, what your realtor is telling you, or what the county tax appraisal says on the matter? If you are an owner reading this, & considering renting your unit to these tenants, be carful with account information. They will attempt to gain access to your cable and electric account numbers. They asked multiple times for both & I was not comfortable handing it over. In the age of identity theft, we felt it wasn't worth the risk.
