Overview

About the property

Villa, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-8)

Caribbean-style, THREE storey villa with media loft & separate office ares. This 2450 square foot, designer decorated (Kismet Designs of Toronto) villa is the largest house in the complex with 3+ bedrooms, and 3.5 baths, Our home is located in a small, private and intimate complex of multi-coloured villas in the peaceful and tranquil East End.

Fully equipped, state-of-the-art, open-concept, granite kitchen with combination convection/microwave oven, halogen built-in cooktop, side-by-side refrigerator with ice-maker, dishwasher, and stacked washer and dryer. The breakfast bar comfortably seats four for casual meals, the dining table seats six. Bright sunlight fills these rooms from the many windows and sliding glass doors leading to the pool. A four-seat wrought-iron patio set is on the lanai.

STUNNING Master Bedroom with cathedral ceiling and luxurious, king-size, canopy bed. Rich, vibrant, and passionate reds with co-ordinating, brightly coloured comforter with red and pink hibiscus and palm leaves. Matching striped drapes frame the windows of this sunlight-filled room with a view of the pool to the north and a view of the ocean and beach to the south. Large en-suite bathroom has sumptuous large jacuzzi tub, separate shower stall, and double sinks.

Second Bedroom has a Queen-size, four-poster bed with tropical bedspread, matching drapes, pillows, and shams. Along with the Master Bedroom, it also has a walk-out to the second floor balcony with two lounge chairs and table for your morning coffee.

THIRD Bedroom has two large bamboo twin beds with casual flip-flops lime green and lemon comforter with lots of fluffy pillows and an en-suite with large shower stall. As this is on the MAIN FLOOR, it is an ideal guest room, the perfect place to put the in-laws or teenagers and ideal for older guests not able to climb stairs.

LOFT - Media room can easily be a fourth bedroom with the pull-out double bed in the large sectional sofa. Lots of privacy and space. Also on the third floor is a separate kitchenette with bar refrigerator, coffeemaker, kettle, toaster, full set of dishes, and small sink. Enjoy popcorn with the 75 DVD movies provided or morning coffee at the two-seater cafe table. In a separate area of the loft is an office - the desk directly below a window overlooking the beach and ocean and FREE DSL!

Several fine dining establishments are nearby: lighthouse, Portofino's Italian Food, Castros (home of the 'Barefoot Man' - a must see in Cayman - reserve early, he sells out!). Several restaurants frequented by the locals are also nearby.

We are 20 minutes away from a large grocery store (in front of the skateboard park) called Hurleys. They have a FABULOUS selection of freshly prepared foods that you just need to bring home and heat. Cheaper than dining out, much more convenient than cooking! We are also a five minute drive in the opposite direction from a large convenience store (also owned by Hurleys).

Get away from the traffic and congestion of Georgetown (Up to five Cruise ships per day!) and seven-mile beach! Close enough to visit, yet away from the crowds for a truly relaxing holiday.

NOTE: If calendar shows that we're booked, contact us -- we have another 3 bedroom house in the East End

ALSO NOTE: VRBO Rates listed are incorrect due to the constantly fluctuating US Dollar. VRBO will not allow us to list the prices in USD because we're not located in the USA, even though we quote in USD and charge in USD. Please refer to our own website for the correct rates.

About Sandra. Please E-MAIL me -- I'm almost impossible to reach by phone!

Owners: Sandra is a registered psychotherapist in private practice in Toronto. Formerly, she was a head of Guidance with the Toronto Board of Education.

Daughters Samantha & Sarah, both honour-roll students, are now in Grade 10 & 11 at a private high school in Canada. Samantha & Sarah are both licenced scuba divers having obtained their licenses when we lived on Cayman.

Bella, our Boston Terrier, loves the Cayman Islands too -- particularly the weather -- she loves to lay out in the sun, but with her black fur, overheats easily.

Sandra. Please E-MAIL me -- I'm almost impossible to reach by phone! purchased this villa in 2005

Why Sandra. Please E-MAIL me -- I'm almost impossible to reach by phone! chose Grand Cayman

As an avid diver, going to the Cayman Islands for the past 20+ years, I fell in love with the island and it's people many years ago. Cayman is my favourite dive destination, having coral, walls, caverns and relatively tame fish (I'm into underwater photography). It has the highest standard of living in the Caribbean and lowest crime rate. Therefore, when my husband and I were looking to buy a vacation villa, Cayman was an easy choice. My daughters absolutely love the swimming pools -- and every time we visit, spend almost every moment of their time in the swimming pools.

What makes this villa unique

If you want peace & relaxation, this is the place to be! I like my home in Cayman much better than my home in Toronto -- the layout, the loft being our favourite room where we all go to watch family movies. I thoroughly enjoy cooking in the kitchen -- which you will see if very well stocked.

For diving the location is perfect -- the best diving is in the East End. And if you are into fishing, one of our neighbours, Herman Christian, owns 'Herman's Fishing Charters' based at the Morritt's resort (10 min. away). He will come back to the villa and cook your catch for you. He's a great cook.

No other resort has a pool like ours. Several times we have rented out 2 or 3 villas in the complex for family re-unions, for weddings, or for multiple families travelling together. We have had caterers (we recommend Mise En Place) set up a BBQ under the cabana.

For those who don't dive, when the divers go out on their dives, head over to the Morritt's spa for a massage, manicure or pedicure. Pamper yourself!

Outstanding diving and great villa for 8 adults and one two year old.

  • 4 of 5

Thanks for a wonderful stay on Cayman Calypso. It worked beautifully for our adult family of 8 and one two year old. After spending a wonderful week on Little Cayman with nothing to get around but bicycles, I was not sure that I would be happy on the larger and more crowded Grand Cayman. But East End was just great and unlike on Little Cayman, the car was essential. The diving was extraordinary off of East End with magnificent underwater topography, canyons, swim-throughs, tunnels, etc. Ocean Frontiers was a terrific dive operation and we enjoyed the Botanical Gardens and walking the Mastik trail. We spent a day going to the West End to dive the Kittiwake, and although the dive was great, we were quick to return to the the East end for lunch going to Compass Point for lion fish tacos. Seven Mile Beach is not our cup of tea. We preferred long walks on the beach starting at the public beach just up the road and towards Morrits Resort. As divers with Ocean Frontiers we had access to kayaks and used them quite a bit. Since it was lobster season and our son was experienced at catching them, we were regularly supplied with lobster caught at the reef close to the villa. The villa was well equipped and the property manager was very responsive with our few initial requests, including a replacement for the third floor studio fold-out bed mattress which was not useable. He supplied us with an inflatable mattress that we used on the floor and when that did not work because of pump problems he supplied a regular mattress. We ate in most of the time and did a lot of cooking. The kitchen layout was great for a group of people cooking together. The one downside in the kitchen for us was that we would have preferred a full oven with broiler rather than combo micro-wave convection oven. We used the charcoal BBQ quite a bit. We loved the cascading pools and spent a lot of time in and around them. Rarely was anyone else in the pools. We also loved the colour scheme of the villa complex and the villa itself. The master bedroom is really quite wonderful and a great retreat on its own. The layout works well for a big group even though the first floor kitchen, living dining room area is not that big.

Nice, clean and great place to stay away from town hussle and bussle

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful trip - house on ground floor is a little small then it appears in photos but was very nice. We enjoyed our stay - We were a family group of 5 and spent a lot of time at the house grilling dinner and breakfast each day which if you have never been to the Cayman's you must know that food and restaurants are not cheap. So being able to cook at the house was somewhat of a help. We found a little restaurant down the road which was reasonable and everything was in American money - Eagle Rays great food great fun go on Saturday night and see Tito and he will let you in on all the local places to go. Tell him the "IT" guy sent you! Only down point of this property was the pools were very low all week and the whirlpool did not whirl and called both on island property manager who told me to email owner so I did and really got not response but other then that would highly recommend this unit if you want a get away from it all or you like to scuba lots of great places on this side of the island. Thank you for a great trip.

Spring Break

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from our family Spring Break (my husband and i with our 3 sons, 12, 11 and 6) and we had a great time! Sandra was extremely helpful in giving us all of the needed tourist information well in advance and the house was exactly as pictured on the site. We had plenty of room and then some. It could use a few touch ups here and there, but all normal "wear and tear" you would expect from a "beach rental". We had an issue the first full night with the a/c and the property manager came within 20 minutes of our phone call to fix the problem. Stingray City, Rum Point and "Starfish" Beach all must-do/sees!! Tukka was amazing for dinner and Captain Herman's was our favortie meal all week! We would defiinitely stay here again!

Our first vacation in the Cayman Islands

  • 5 of 5

We made a short notice booking and the service was excellent with a simple booking procedure and great support information.

We have had a wonderful first visit the Cayman Islands.

The Villa was great and the care and response to a couple of small problems was exceptional.

The East End is everything one could ask for as a relaxing break away from the North West Pennsylvania winter.

The snorkeling was exceptional and a visit to the turtle farm and stingarays are a must.

Best meals are the local take-aways which appear on front lawns from 5 pm onwards. Up market resturants are the Conuch Cafe (do this when you visit the turtle farm) and the Lighthouse (15 minutes from the Villa).

The Villa is well equiped, very clean, good level of privacy and the pool area was great for all 3 generations of our family.

We will be back again next year and hopefully for a longer stay.

Christmas in Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Our first trip to the Cayman Islands and this villa was just wonderful! It was immaculate, well equipped with everything you'd need, and in a great location. When you book, the owners (who really want you to have a great time) send you so much good information about everything you'd want to know. Can't wait to go back!

Map

The MAIN attraction of the East End, in addition to the tranquility and authentic Caribbean ambience, of course, is the snorkelling and SCUBA DIVING - unquestionably the best diving in Grand Cayman, Five (5) minutes from Ocean Frontiers Diving, East end is also famous for windsurfing, Nearby is the world's largest SKATEBOARD Park - known as "Black Pearl", They also have a huge surf pool where you can actually surf the wave on a full-size surfboard, Soon to come is a large water park, The thrill of a life-time, however, swimming with the Stingrays at Stingray City, is just a 30 minute drive away, Also nearby, Birdwatching
