Brilliant position and comfortable house. A position that bad weather could never ruin
I have run out of superlatives ...............
When we first looked at the photos and read the description on the website we thought that Quarterdeck was going to be amazing - it is not often you arrive at a holiday let and find that the property is actually even more amazing than photos can depict but Quarterdeck is.
It is extremely well planned to make best use of the space - giving all staying there a high degree of privacy in their own rooms and bathrooms but also ample space for everyone to come together and socialise and eat. The open plan area is truly astounding and works perfectly - we spent every evening on the sofa or veranda looking out at stunning views.
The bathrooms are hotel standard with a choice of rain shower or normal.
We loved the beach theme decoration especially the pictures, driftwood mirrors and the rope banister on the stairs - even the duvets in the twin and bunk rooms continued the theme. We didn't have small children with us but they would absolutely adore the cleverly planned bunk beds with steps in the middle to climb up. The games room (snug) for children downstairs is a stroke of genius, was very well equipped with Tech (Playstation & Wii), many board games and books - it was well used on our stay.
The kitchen is also extremely well equipped (the beer fridge very popular!!) I like that it had all the 'little things' you usually (and annoyingly) have to buy - such as dishwasher tablets and bin bags etc - the welcome pack was also very welcome.
A big attraction for us was the proximity to the sea - when the tide is in - it is literally a dozen steps to the sea and easy to hose off and leave wetsuits to dry when you come out.
Quarterdeck is conveniently close to the shops - boys in our family recommend the 'large breakfast' in the Harbour Deli - the girls preferred the ice cream parlour. Although Quarterdeck is next to the pub - there was no noise to disturb us.
We had great weather and didn't venture too far but would recommend visiting Lynton & Lynmouth and for kids - the Dinosaur Park, Exmoor Zoo (good lunches), Woody Bay Railway and Horse riding & Quad biking in Woolacombe.
To sum up - if you don't enjoy staying at Quarterdeck in Combe Martin - you won't enjoy staying anywhere - it is superb !!
All that we'd hoped for, and more!
Slightly reluctant to review the Quarterdeck as we don't want to let the secret out about this amazing, perfectly positioned holiday home.
We stayed for a week over the Easter holidays and had a wonderful time. Just as the photos suggest, this has the best view of beautiful Combe Martin, which you can enjoy in all weathers from the balcony or the living room. Direct, easy access to the beach. Spacious living area with a variety of seating options, but room for all to sit together too. It's been beautifully decorated throughout and felt clean and new. Exceptionally well equipped kitchen - although we generally ate out (delicious Sunday carvery at the Pack of Cards, Black & White fish and chips, bacon baguette at the Harbour Deli and a meal at the Dolphin Inn - all recommended). A handy welcome pack was provided. The double beds were very comfortable. The Snug is a great space for the younger guests. Very good location for the town too. We bought a weekly car park ticket from the council and had no problem finding a space near the property (not sure whether that would be more difficult in peak summer?). All comms with Nicki leading up to the stay was very helpful and clear. We very much hope to return.
