A neat and tidy cottage, with a very helpful owner. All expected 'equipment was present and in good working order. No faults.
Our trip to the Highlands
Our stay at Bramley Cottage in Forres was wonderful. The cottage was very clean and comfortable well equipped . The owner was excellent with lots of local information of places to see etc. A pleasure to have stayed there, made all the difference for our holiday 5 star plus.
It was lovely to have you stay with us and we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your holiday
Great property and location
We wanted to spend time in an unfamiliar region of Scotland with close proximity to good walking including on the coast. Renting Bramley Cottage for a week fit the bill perfectly.
Our host, Colin, was helpful answering our questions before arrival, providing information on transportation options without making our decisions for us. His information proved accurate. We rented a car, thereby having many more options than public transport (our usual choice) could provide. There is a rail station and some buses, but their routes and frequency didn’t suit our plans.
The cottage was in excellent condition, very well located and all on one level. We didn’t need to use the car for doing anything local. It was all within walking distance. Parking was a private space just a few feet from the cottage door.
The spacious bedroom had plenty of storage space. The living room had comfortable seating, space for a little yoga practice and was an open plan setup with the kitchen and dining space. The kitchen was well equipped, including a microwave, full size stove, fridge and small washer dryer. The bathroom was fine, especially as we prefer a shower. Those wanting a bathtub would be out of luck.
We cooked at the cottage and ate some dinners out. Forres has a good set of restaurants and fast food options for a town of its size. There was a huge Tesco supermarket within an easy walk.
We did several day walks in the area, enjoying the coast, the town and areas beyond. One day we did the hour’s drive up into the Cairngorms for lovely mountain walking. Colin lent us some materials describing many walks in the Forres area, and we supplemented that with further resources from the internet and a local shop. There are a few walks accessible directly from Forres, but we found our car useful for getting to several more farther afield where public transit wasn’t helpful.
On our one rainy day, we walked to the local distillery, and enjoyed the tour and tasting, hosted by a delightful young lassie.
Colin was always available and helpful if we had a question or request, yet was very respectful of our privacy in his cottage.
All in all, we highly recommend Bramley Cottage. We had an excellent stay.
