About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 7)

A cozy year-round vacation home that allows your family an affordable getaway in the beautiful Rangeley Lakes Region. Access to the 543 acre Long Pond/Beaver Mtn Lake is across the road. The loons will serenade you and the local moose may pass only a few feet from the house. With unbuilt abutting properties and set back in a 1/2 acre wooded setting, the house faces the rising sun on the lake. It has been remodeled and redecorated frequently.

Winter brings a crystal beauty to the region offering skiing at Saddleback Mountain only 15 minutes away. Snowmobiling on ITS84 is just off our road giving access to the region's 150 miles of groomed trails. A quiet amble on cross country skis may be your preference. Of course, fall paints everything in amazing color as you drive our 'National Scenic Byways' or hike a variety of marked trails.

Keywords: Year-round 3 bedroom home in a quiet wooded setting. Lake access, canoe, washer.

About Carol Lynch

We live here on Cape Cod where John is a retired year-round ferry boat Captain and Carol also retired from marketing for the same company. We still enjoy working, so summer seasonal jobs keep us busy and healthy. Boating/cruising is our great love aboard our Jefferson Trawler. The cat, Dory, likes it too, as well as long drives to Maine or any window with a good view. Brief escapes to Maine in winter always include skiing and snowmobiling, but we wish our kids and grandkids could come up more often.

Carol Lynch purchased this house in 1978

Why Carol Lynch chose Rangeley Lake

In 1970, we took a mid-week ski vacation in Maine, touted in a Boston paper as having incredible potential. 'As the ski industry expands, the state will protect its environment much more than Vermont ever did'. We deliberatly chose a place we had never heard of, Saddleback Mountain, and the love affair with the region began; a friendlier, more beautiful place didn't exist. Our Cape Cod liveliood did not allow for summer vacations, so when we built, we decided to rent the house in summer and use it when possible in winter. Three generations have made memories here.

What makes this house unique

Since we don't use it in summer, our own experiences are limited to fall and winter. Spectacular fall foliage has long been a draw to the region. Drives along Route 17 or 4 have been deemed 'National Scenic Byways'. We love that moose stroll by; that there are no chain stores, fast food, strip malls or stop lights in Rangeley. But good restaurants abound, wonderful festivals and performing arts events year-round. An emphasis on 'the great outdoors', much of which is carefully protected, should be part of your plan when you come to our house.

Cozy, clean cottage with convenient location

  • 4 of 5

We spent an early Spring weekend at this lovely cottage. The owner was wonderful and easy to work with and the place was just perfect for our needs. It was very neat and clean, and close to town. This was our first trip to Rangeley and it is a beautiful area. And as an added bonus, we were able to bring our dogs.

A Wonderful Maine Get-Away!

  • 5 of 5

Lynch Lodge was the perfect setting during our time in the Rangeley area. After 24 years, I surprised my Mother with a trip to the area. I set up the visit at Lynch Lodge and have to say that it was simply perfect! It was in a quiet location, close to woods and lake, and provided us with a terrific place to stay. It was easy to find and close to so the many places we wanted to visit. We even found some distant relatives still lived in the area! Lynch Lodge was secure, homey, and so comfortable. It was a wonderful place to come back to each day to relax, make dinner, and have some of the best nights of sleep we'd had in a long time. There was a lot of information about the area that was kept in the house which was very helpful. We read through all of it! We went on several evening animal searches and using Carol's information on where to drive, and saw a total of 5 moose over our 5 day visit. It was fabulous! Thank you so much for contributing to our special Mother-Daughter weekend!

Great for Winter Vacations

  • 5 of 5

Plenty of room was made for our 20 ft trailer and 3 snowmobiles in the driveway. Though we had a really cold week and a break down with our sleds, it was great to come back to such a nice and comfortable home after and be able to have a meal without going out. The house was stocked with all the primary items, so we didn't have to go to the store on the day of our arrival. Sattleback was very close for skiing and everyone was super nice. Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us.

Owner's Response: Thanks Carmen, for taking the time to review. Often guests write in the guest book at the cabin, but you did both!! We do have the basic staples available, as long as folks replace what is used up...it seems to be appreciated. Please everyone....please don't bring more coffee filters!!! Our simple place is cozy and welcoming...do come again and try another beautiful season!

Also fun at Moose Alley: high tech bowling, action games , live bands and nice bar area. Maine National Logging Museum is amazing and hiking trails! The Sporting Museum in Oquossoc tells of the draw the region had/has for generations of fishermen (and women) and hunters throughout the region's history. Challenging Golf here too!! Whatever you do.......be sure to listen for the "call of the Loons"
