Unparalleled serenity. When is the last time you relaxed around a campfire, listening to owls on their nightly prowls, while contemplating the vastness of the night sky, unobstructed by light pollution? This experience could be yours at "The Camp," our simply beautiful 1500 off-the-grid home situated in the heart of our 130 acre woodland. The Camp is 11/2 miles down a rustic, but well-maintained private road, 12 miles to the heart of downtown Ithaca: easy access to theaters, restaurants, Cornell University and Ithaca College.
The house features 2 furnished bedrooms and a loft: 1 queen, 1 full, and 3 singles. There is also a full-sized Murphy bed on the screened-in porch for your enjoyment.
The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with a propane restaurant stove, propane refrigerator and running hot and cold water for turning out meals to be enjoyed on one of the outdoor seating areas or at the kitchen table that seats ten people. The bathroom amenities include the comforts of home- a shower, bathtub and flush toilet provided by eco-friendly technology. Soothe your tired muscles after a day of hiking at the outdoor shower. The camp is powered by solar, propane and a backup generator. This is a perfect place to disconnect from the cares of the world and reconnect with nature and your traveling companions.
There are ample gathering spaces, from the bar area, lazy hammocks, to the campfire pit. There are miles of trails on our own property right outside the door. The Finger Lakes Trail runs through the property. Drop-offs for one-way hikes can be arranged with the hosts.
In the spirit of off-the grid living, The Camp offers a board games, and books.There are plugs available for powering and recharging laptops and devices, but the set-up is for the minimalist interesting in unplugging from the grid. Although there isn't any wi-fi service or television, reception is excellent(5g) and guests have successfully used their own hot spots.
The Camp caters to those who enjoy nature in all of its glory. There is abundant wildlife, flora and fauna waiting to be discovered, photographed, written about or simply appreciated. When is the last time you can say you didn't hear any sounds other than the wind through the trees?
We provide comfortable beds, fresh sheets and towels, basic toiletries, and a kitchen equipped for the casual cook or more serious chef. Our cupboard stocked with herbs and spices are ready to garnish your forays to one of the many local farms, farmers' markets or a wild edibles foraging expedition. There are extras such as lanterns to guide you to your campfire, a small cooler, picnic tinware for your day trip, hammocks, and basic first aid supplies. We want to be sure you are able to relax in comfort, not needing to run to the store for the "small stuff."
