Thinking of a nice cozy vacation in Cape Cod?
This house provides a convenient location and a relaxing atmosphere for you. The house is in a desirable area of of Osterville south of Main Street (towards the ocean). There is a nice field (one house away) where you can exercise your pet in the morning - and there are free public tennis courts next to this field.
The house has a functional kitchen and a dining room with a dining table that seats 6. The rest of the folks can eat in the sun room or at the picnic table outside.
The house can comfortably accommodate 10 people.
There are 4 bedrooms in the house. One bedroom upstairs has two twin size beds, while the other has 4 twin size beds. The upstairs bedrooms each have an air conditioner. The master bedroom downstairs has a queen size bed with a private bath. The other bedroom also has a queen size bed - and there is a bathroom in the hallway. Each of the downstairs bed room has a window air conditioner.
The living room has an HDTV with a Blu-ray DVD player from which you can stream movies and shows from Netflix (Note Not Cable TV). Wi-Fi Internet access is included so that you can stay connected if you so desire.
The medium-sized back yard is fenced in by a high wooden fence. There is a deck with 2 Adirondack chairs. And there is a charcoal grill on the lawn.
A Washer and Dryer is available on the first floor for your convenience as necessary. A limited number of towels, beach towels and linens will be provided as part of the cleaning fee.
Main Street in Osterville is only about a 3 minute walk away (mostly on sidewalks) - where you'll find restaurants and shops. You'll also find a small park as well as a market/grocery store that is remarkably well stocked.
Hyannis town center is also only 6 miles away where you can find, bars restaurants and shops. There, you’ll also find the Kennedy Museum and an amusement center and the docks.
You could start your day off with a short (3 to 4 minute), refreshing walk to Cumberland Farms ($1 coffee) or Dunkin Donuts to get some coffee and breakfast. Then walk back and get ready for a day at the beaches.
You'll have the use of a free beach pass (caution: please do not lose this beach pass) to access all of the Barnstable Beaches. There are several beaches in the area. Dowses Beach is the closest and is a "residents only" beach (but you can get in with the beach pass). Centerville beach is a larger beach which allows the public to enter with a fee (you can get in free with the beach pass). There is also Kalmus Beach (which is popular with Wind Surfers). You can also go check out Sandy Neck Beach where you can find a lighthouse and do a little bird-watching. There are several other beaches in the area, including Keyes Beach, Veterans Beach, Covell Beach and more.
For families with little kids, there are beach toys in the shed out back. After your day at the beaches, you can enjoy a nice rinse in the outdoor shower in the backyard!
You could spend a day exploring the shops in Osterville and visiting the library - which allows well-behaved, leashed dogs inside. Then come home and have a bar-b-que in the back yard.
The experience of relaxing on the back deck or sun room with a glass of wine or a cocktail, while absorbing the wonderful atmosphere of Cape Cod is a great way to top off each day of your vacation!
For a change of pace, a day could be spent by taking a ferry to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard (from the Hyannis docks). Or hop on a deep sea fishing party boat to catch whatever fish is in season. Whale watching is another option for those wanting to get up close and personal with the sea life.
For shoppers and browsers, the Artists’ Shanties at the Hyannis docks offer a view of the local work by some of New England’s crafters and artists. And if, mall shopping is your thing, Cape Cod Mall is only 15-20 minutes away by car.
There are a number golf courses in the area – including a public course at the Hyannis Golf course and the Twin Brooks Golf course.
No matter what your interests, Cape Cod probably has something to offer you and this house offers a nice, cozy staging area from which you can explore this wonderful New England Region!
