Beautiful, peaceful two-story wood cabin with great deck, outside fire pit and BBQ. Two bedrooms and bath upstairs with stand-up shower. Master bedroom and bath downstairs with tub shower. One acre of huge pines with Bailey Creek within 100 yards. Inside laundry and garage, satellite and WIFI, and a well-appointed kitchen and dining room. As with my other 5-star cabin (#704934), all the comforts of home but with the added allure of crisp cool air and the sounds and smells of nature just outside your window. Magnificent Lassen Volcanic National Park a quick and easy 9 miles away.

About Nancy Ekelund
Born and raised in nearby Redding, I spent many summers at my grandparent's cabin in Shingletown. Those memories are stand-outs for me because of the sounds, smells, and sights of the huge trees, crisp clean air, and natural creeks I once loved. After living in southern California for many years, I moved back to my roots in Redding and opened a private Optometry practice. The idea of owning a cabin in Shingletown as a getaway became a dream fulfilled in 2014 (see cabin rental #704934). I had a great time re-decorating that first cabin and making it a shared place for others to enjoy. When this cabin came on the market several months ago, I couldn't resist it either....
Nancy Ekelund purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Nancy Ekelund chose Shingletown
I fell in love with the wood in this cabin, and its slightly more secluded feel (compared to my other rental). It required much work and effort to get it outfitted in a way I think folks would enjoy, but the bones were great.....and I've grown to love its 80's tile!! This will be its first season as a rental, but if all goes as my other cabin has, I think you'll have a wonderful, restful time here. Sharing that feeling is certainly my goal...... With gratitude, Nancy

My husband and our two young children (3yo and 8mo) had a wonderful stay. The house is extremely well-maintained and has all the conveniences you could want. Directions were clear and easy to follow and we had great access to Lassen, though if I had realized how pleasant the area and house were I would have planned more time to explore the wineries nearby, too. We spent most of our days outside but honestly could have spent an entire day at the house and not regretted a single minute. (Again, I wish we had had more than 3 days.). As an unexpected bonus, the beds were as comfortable as any I have ever slept in. It was a terrific get-away—the house is practical but feels decadent/special, too.
A great find just outside of Lassen
Beautiful cabin home with a lot of amenities. Great location, owner is very responsive and available. Highly recommended. We look forward to coming back!
Great Cabin in Lassen Area
Nancy was very accommodating and responsive, especially when our plans had changed. We enjoyed the quiet location, closeness to Lassen National Park and ease of access off Hwy 44. The cabin was comfortable, updated, and very well supplied with extra items to help you relax and enjoy the stay. We appreciated the rustic feel with modern conveniences and space for friends or family. Wildlife viewing from the deck was a plus. Highly recommended and we are looking forward to returning.
Beautiful Cabin, Perfect Location
As VRBO owners ourselves, we were more than impressed with this vacation rental. Although we were just two, it would be ideal for a small family or friends as well. The cabin has everything you could need, in a quiet location, and incredibly comfortable. It's got great amenities as well with high speed internet, DirectTV, washer/dryer, dishwasher, games, puzzles, and more. What stood out for us were: 1) the comfortable bed, mattress, pillows and bed covers; and 2) how well insulated the house is in mid-summer. We ventured out during the heat of the day, and came back to a very cool house; something much appreciated. This is definitely a five-star rental. We highly recommend.
A wonderful getaway!
Our family enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was very clean and the beds were comfy. The kids had a great time riding bikes in the driveway. We were a quick drive to lassen park and enjoyed exploring the park. Would definitely recommend!
Best VRBO Ever!!
My husband and I spent our 39th Wedding Anniversary here and we could not have had a more relaxing, enjoyable stay! The cabin does not have neighbors too close by with the woods surrounding it. Nancy thought of everything...even a toy and bone for our Golden Retriever! We have stayed in over 30+ VRBO's and this was absolutely the best one we have ever stayed at. The décor, amenities, cleanliness and inviting ambiance were spot on! Our $200 deposit was returned the day after we got home. We look forward to returning for our 40th Wedding Anniversary ...if not sooner!! :)
Lassen Park with its many amazing sites and trails is an easy 9 miles to the entrance. Manzanita Lake inside the Park provides a leisurely day of fishing, swimming, or sunning. Burney Falls is a worthwhile hour drive, and Turtle Bay Exploration Park is a 45 minute drive to Redding. Or....just kick back and lay in the hammock and listen to the sway of huge pines....and do little else!
