Super little retro cottage with lots of road noise

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this no frills but all you need cottage. Very clean and well equipped. The only drawback is the very busy, noisey road between the cottage and Echo Lake. Aside from this we loved our stay at this sweet little cottage!

Another Great Stay in the Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We just had a second wonderful stay here! The cabin is outfitted with everything you need, well situated between Acadia and Southwest Harbor, and we love swimming at the lake across the street on our own little private spit of beach. We hope to return again next year!

Beautiful cabin, well situated for lake and park, but close to thoroughfare.

  • 4 of 5

A charming 1940's cabin - but unlike many Maine vintage places, updated with modern conveniences and tasteful decor, plus sheets provided - made this a great place to hang and explore the island. The porch is lovely, and you're just steps down the driveway from an easy, underutilized entry point to the beautiful Echo lake. Also the owner is nearby and very kind and responsive. The only downside, as listed in other reviews, is the proximity to the main thoroughfare up and down the coast to Southwest Harbor, so, especially during the day, there is traffic of cars and the occasional truck, so despite its nestling in the woods, you're not as "away" as you might feel elsewhere, but all the pluses outweighed that.

Relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a really nice time at this cute cabin. It rained on day, and we had a nice fire in the wood stove. We played cards as a family in the kitchen. We swam at Echo Lake across the street. We even saw some deer in the yard one day. The cabin me all our needs. It was clean and had all the supplies we needed. We really enjoyed our time at Acadia and spending time in the cabin.

Adorable and Convenient

  • 4 of 5

The Cabin is in a convenient location if you are in the area to explore and get away from Bar Harbor. It is just tucked off the Main road. We could reach the main portion of Acadia within 20 minutes. However, there are a couple of hikes within a few miles of the cabin that are beautiful. Echo Lake is gorgeous and you can swim, tube, kayak, paddleboard right across the street from the cabin. The biggest challenge is crossing the main road. You can drive to a beach area for Echo Lake that is within a couple miles of the cabin

The cabin has a rustic charm and is well cared for. The biggest complaint was traffic can be a little noisy at times. If you are a light sleeper you may want ear plugs. We played too hard during the day so had no problem sleeping.

There is a nice local restaurant nearby which I would recommend for dinner called the Rogue Cafe. Do go to Thurston's Lobster Pound in Southwest Harbor.

Great house, great location

  • 5 of 5

Stocked with everything you would need, in a great location with proximity to hiking trails, right across the street from beautiful Echo Lake.

Clean and comfortable.

Don't stay here if you require a lot of privacy from the people you are traveling with, otherwise a great experience. I will definitely be coming back.
