This is a bright, sunny, charming townhouse in the heart of Capitol Hill, in a perfect location for exploring D.C. It has a walk score of 96! The house is just four blocks from the Capitol and within walking distance to all D.C. has to offer, including the National Mall, Smithsonian museums, Library of Congress, monuments, and other sights. The home is on a beautiful, quiet street, but is just around the corner from a bustling commercial corridor with great bars and restaurants. You can walk to eateries on Pennsylvania Ave. and Barrack's Row, head up to the hip H Street Corridor, or head downtown to check out all of DC's sights. Just a block away there is a little grocery store, a Starbucks, several restaurants, banks, a dry cleaner, a liquor store, a gas station, and other businesses. Public transportation is also readily accessible, as there are two metro stops nearby (Capitol South and Eastern Market), a bike share terminal is close by and it never takes longer than a minute to get a taxi or an Uber. We are happy to work with both short- and longer-term renters, and we have particular experience coordinating leases with foreign service families that are on per diem and need detailed invoices with rates that change nightly.
The house is super sunny with hardwood floors throughout. The first floor has an open floor plan and soaring ceilings. The kitchen was recently renovated and is fully stocked for your stay. There is a cutout opening it to the rest of the home so you can visit while cooking. And a breakfast bar is a perfect place to perch to check your e-mail or enjoy your morning coffee. The living room and dining room are fully open to each other. The dining table is spacious for 6 and can easily fit more with extra folding chairs we provide. We've stocked the built-in cabinets on this level with toys, books, and games for families traveling with small children.
The three bedrooms and two bathrooms are located on the second floor. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and a beautiful bay window looking out over a church across the street. There is an en suite bath attached to the master bedroom. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed and windows with two different exposures. The third bedroom is very small but still has space for a twin-size bed. There is a bathroom in the hallway that the second and third bedroom share.
You'll have the entire home available to you during your stay.
Interaction with Guests
We are on call 24/7 to answer any questions your have about the home or to offer suggestions to make the most of your time in D.C. Depending on your arrival and departure times, we may meet you at the house; otherwise, we have a lockbox with a key to enable you to enter and exit any time.
The neighborhood is fantastic. This is the best part of Capitol Hill -- super residential, but close to everything, including restaurants, bars, public transportation, and all the sights.
There are two metro stops within a 5-10 minute walk, depending on your pace: Eastern Market and Capitol South.
There is a bike share terminal two blocks away.
Ubers and taxis are always available.
We can provide a parking permit for those who drive. Please note that we do not have a reserved parking spot, but there is residential street parking (which requires a residential permit that we can let you borrow). We usually don't have trouble finding a spot right on the block. If you need more than one parking permit, we can arrange that but will need the license plate numbers of the vehicles in advance. There is no charge for using the parking permit.
The house is only about a 20-minute drive from DCA airport. IAD and BWI are about 45 minutes away.
