I Love Crane Lake, but the cabin....not so much
We (6 adults and 1 dog) stayed in this cabin from July 14th -21st, 2018. When we got there, everything looked great from the outside. As we settled in, I noticed a thin film of grease that coated the oven hood, microwave, toaster, fridge and pendent lights over the island. In addition to the dirty kitchen, I noticed several cobwebs with dead spiders around the inside of the cabin. The bathroom was clean, except for a thin film on the mirror and several cobwebs behind the door and in the corners. Another thing to note, the cabin was suppose to have air-conditioning. This was not the case. As we were preparing for dinner, I looked for cookware and found it to be old, useless and dirty. Honestly, the cookware I use for camping is better than what was available in the cabin. Considering the condition of the cabin, I began to wonder why they charged a cleaning fee. Despite the state of the cabin, it was a family vacation and we were determined to make the best of it.
The real problem started after we left. I contacted Michael and asked if he had done a walk through, he replied that the cabin looked great (that’s because we left it better than we found it)! Since we left the cabin in great condition, Michael stated that he would promptly send us our damage deposit. As of September 28th, after asking multiple times, we have yet to receive our refundable damage deposit. This past weekend, my husband visited Crane Lake, but stayed at a friend’s cabin. He stopped by Michael’s home three separate times to ask for the check and was once again unsuccessful.
For the reasons listed above, I have rated this cabin one star.
Crane Lake cabin
Cabin was very nice, clean & comfortable. We enjoyed our stay. Walleye fishing wasn't that great. Maybe should of hired Michael as a guide. No TV cable.
Comfortable, convenient, beautiful
Enjoyed our stay at the Bayside Cabin and Bunkhouse. Master bedroom was large enough to accomodate a portable cot so each of the 7 of us had a comfortable sleeping berth. Public access next door made for easy boat logistics. With long cords we reached the nice dock to charge our trolling motors. Mike was a great host and shared favorite spots. Lake is gorgeous with some treacherous rocks common for border lakes, so study your map and be cautious. Walleye were sleeping, but we'll try again someday. All in all a great experience and nice accomodations.
The cabin was very nice to stay in but the driveway could use rock.
Happy to hear you enjoyed the cabin! We just redid the driveway today. Fresh gravel and its wider. Hope to have you back!
The cabin was nice . Nice view of the lake and a nice dock .
Had a good stay . Everything we needed was there . Nice property and beautiful area to stay in .
Very nice spot, decent cabin
The lake and area is beautiful, owner was responsive and helpful. Beds were super comfortable. Biggest issue was that the building wasn't clean when we arrived (and the layout of the property puts the fire pit off to the side instead of back near the lake).
Would probably recommend having (or renting) a boat, though. There isn't a ton to do in the area without one.
We would definitely return. Great spot from which to explore Crane Lake.
