About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Sunroom, 1.5 Baths, Ocean Front (Sleeps 7-8)

Fantastic Location!

Just steps from the beach and a short walk to town, the Red House is a classic two story beach house that has evolved over the years into the cozy home it is today. Never perfect. Always authentic.

The Red House has a generous layout with places to gather and spaces to call your own. The first level features an entryway and spacious living room with ocean views and comfy couches for tv watching and socializing. There is a knotty pine den with an old river stone fireplace (now gas), books, puzzles, games and another nap-worthy sofa. Cooks and guests alike will enjoy the bright kitchen with its attached eating area. The well-equipped kitchen has a butcher block island, gas cook-top, microwave, convection oven, ultra-quiet dishwasher, and a new refrigerator with filtered water and ice dispenser. The dining table and banquette seat 10.

Off the dining area is a deck with two round tables, a gas BBQ, plus a charcoal Weber kettle grill. The fenced-in yard has ample space to safely relax, play, and clean off with two outdoor showers.

A large full bath with shower over tub and the snug bunk room are also on the first level. The upstairs level features two master bedrooms with sitting areas and a shared half bath. The upper deck is the prime location for happy hour/s. It is a favorite feature of the house for its unobstructed views of Stinson Beach to the Bolinas Mesa and Mt. Tam. A perfect place for lounging, people-watching, or just "taking it all in".

Sleeping: The bunk room has double with twin over. Both masters have queen beds. There are two full sized couches. Linens and bath towels are provided. B.Y.O.B...beach towels that is!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just wanted to let you know that we loved staying at the Red House. We had a lovely dinner in the kitchen and enjoyed the deck. We got two perfect beach days in spite of the forecast. But I always like to say that there is no such thing as a bad day at the beach.

Thank you again.

Dear Rollin,

We want to thank you so much for the wonderful week at the Red House. Our family had a blast! Your beach house had everything we needed, and we all felt so comfortable there. The kids loved the bunk beds, and we all agree the upper deck was our favorite part. What fabulous views. Thanks again so much for your hospitality.

Look no further! Wonderful location, fully equipped , lovey home in Stinson!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful surprise the Red House was! A perfect location to town.( No need to drive.) Perfectly equipped with all the gadgets you thought only you used at home. Super Clean with lovely decor and comfortable furniture. A spacious fenced yard for our dogs. Beach chairs and boogie boards for our kids. A comfortable home with an owner so conscientious of your needs that she makes you feel like the Red House belongs to you for that weekend( or how ever long you stay.) We can't wait to come back to the Red house. Thank you Beth for your lovely personality and hospitality!

Our Favorite in Stinson Beach!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for a lovely Easter break and 1st birthday celebration for our Pug dog. We relaxed, played, hiked the beach, ate too many donuts from the Parkside Cafe, and thoroughly enjoyed a few blissful days of family time. This house is fantastic -- comfortable, relaxing, and in the ideal location. We loved the adventure of seashell hunting on the beach and our fourth grader was amazed to discover million+ year old sand dollar fossils! Have stayed in other homes @ Stinson Beach and this one is the best. Highly recommend it and we plan to be back.

Wonderful home in a beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

The house is super comfortable: nice couches, well decorated, beautiful kitchen with nice appliances and a view of the ocean. Grilling on the deck with a view of the ocean -- can't be beat! Also we appreciated that it was very clean and tidy, but not fussy. Nothing stresses me out like a beach house that is all white and with everything just so. The gas fireplace kept us cozy. We brought our dog and being able to just leave the front door and run on the beach with him was a ton of fun. Beth reached out to us and let us check in early, and we left late, making for a super relaxing weekend. Thanks!

PERFECT BEACH HOUSE !

  • 5 of 5

Nicely maintained, nicely updated, and very well-appointed 1930's beach house that is comfortable, relaxing, quiet and inviting - without being too fancy. Clean, bright, and comfortable. Large kitchen with plenty of space to cook every meal for a large crowd, large fridge, plenty of counterspace. Large southern exposure and lots of windows make this house very bright inside, even on a grey day. Easy access from highway 1, dedicated parking, and you may not have to use your car again once you park it - it's an easy short walk to everything in town. GREAT LOCATION, GREAT VIEWS and PRIVACY. Not oceanfornt, but even better - you look over the roof of a single very low house (built lower than this one) that provides a nice windbreak when the breeze is up. The beach is ~ 15 away from the fenced yard that will keep your critters in and others out. DOG FRIENDLY. 2 outdoor showers - one in the yard for beach sand and critters, the other is private and walled & has hot water. The inside shower and tub have great water pressure and a great skylight also. Great 180-270 deg views of the entire beach from COMFY BEDS in the 2 upstairs bedrooms - which also conveniently share a half bath (also with a view.) Large sunny elevated deck with lots of seating, ocean views, and a big gas BBQ downstairs, another HUGE sunny deck upstairs (with lounge chairs) off the MBR. Furnishings include Interesting memorabilia from the owners as well as helpful suggestions on favorite places to eat if you want to sample restaurants & etc. The stroll / walk / run to the inlet on the dog-freindly beach of fine sand is almost exactly 2 miles away, and full of interesting driftwood, starfish, shells and etc for most of the year. Additional large expanse of beach to explore to the South. Highly recommended. Bring a book or two, some food, and relax. I look forward to my next visit.

We love the Red House.

  • 5 of 5

It's a beach house direct from central casting.

Wooden stairs, generous decks, oversized sofas, puzzles, seashells , books all just steps from the beach and with a

fenced-in yard.

We appreciated the yard. After chasing balls on the beach and running through the waves, our two dogs were safely enclosed as they dozed and dried off in the sun.

It was an unexpected gift--our schedule and the Red House's coincided; there we were for a mid week three day break at the end of August.

Quiet mornings, long beach walks, strolls to town for indulgent breakfasts led to reading on the deck, pausing to take in the ocean. We settled in for afternoon naps deciding among the sofas in the expansive living room, the extra deep one in the snug den off the kitchen or on a lounge chair outside on the upper deck.

We chose a break from cooking in favor of walking the five minutes to town each night to try a different spot for dinner. Had we been game, the well-appointed kitchen offered a light, bright and airy space to prepare meals.

At night we left the door open to the deck off the bedroom to let the full sound of the surf lull us to sleep and gently wake us in the morning.

The Red House is a special place--warm, welcoming, comfortable. The owners clearly understand beach houses and their community. Notes by the phone guide you to their favorite places and to appreciate their town. It's personal enough so you know someone cares, but not so much that it overwhelms or intrudes. It is a family home for you to make your own.
