Classic two-story beach house
One lot off the beach and a short walk to town, The Red House is a well-maintained Stinson home built in the 1930s with original details and updated amenities.
The hospitable Red House offers a generous layout with places to gather, and spaces to call your own.
The first level features an entryway, a light-filled and spacious sunken living room with ocean views, comfortable seating, ultra-HDTV with Apple TV, Blu-ray Disc player with built-in wireless, and access to an outdoor deck. There is a cozy den with an old stone fireplace (now gas), books, puzzles, games, and more comfy seating.
Cooks and guests alike will enjoy the bright kitchen with its attached eating area. The well-equipped kitchen has a butcher block island, gas cook-top, microwave, quiet dishwasher, oven, and a full-sized refrigerator with filtered water and ice dispenser. A custom dining table with banquette seating accommodates 8-10. A bright full bathroom, with shower over tub and skylight, completes the first level.
Up three stairs to the first landing is a snug bedroom with a double bed and a lofted single bed. Follow eight old-fashioned (i.e., steep) steps to the second floor and find two large ocean view bedrooms that share a skylight-filled half bath with ocean views. Aptly named the Sunrise Room and the Sunset Room, each bedroom hosts a sitting area—a perfect perch to enjoy the view and sound of the surf.
The upper deck off the Sunrise Room is a favorite feature of the house for its unobstructed views of Stinson Beach, from Bolinas to the foothills of Mt. Tam, and on a clear day - - the Farallon Islands. The upper deck is an ideal place, from morning to night, for lounging and taking it all in.
Off the living room and dining area is another deck with a teak dining table, umbrella and eight chairs. There are two BBQ options - a propane grill and a charcoal kettle grill.
The completely fenced-in sandy yard wraps around the home and offers ample space to relax and play. Several Adirondack chairs surround a ring of succulent plants. To clean off outside, there are two shower options (one open shower and one conveniently located private shower with hot water for year-round use).
This well-loved Red House is a welcoming spot in the wonderful community of Stinson Beach, California — a place to call your home for a weekend or a week.
(The photos are being updated and do not do The Red House justice, says the lowly iPhone photographer :-)
