Charming, light-filled oasis.

We had a great stay at the pFirst house! From being personally welcomed and shown around there house to getting great recommendations on where to eat in the neighborhood, this place was a gem. This is in a great location to a series of great restaurants and shops (Sweedeedee for breakfast was amazing) and also easy access to get on the freeway to downtown or to the coast/mountains. We loved returning each night to a super comfy bed and relaxing and quiet house. The *only* thing that could be improved is the shower - it's an older house so has an older claw foot tub with a curtain wrapped around. That wasn't so bad for me, but I'm tall and could see out of the top window to the house next door. :). Honestly, though - that tiny little area for improvement shouldn't keep you from seeking this place out! You'll love it!

Owner's Response: Julie, Thank you for the kind review. We're so glad you found Pfirst House a comfortable place to call home while you enjoyed our great city and state. The clawfoot, original to the 1905 home is charming to some who want a long soak and can be annoying to others used to modernity. I never thought of the height factor, as I'm short. ;) We've thought about tearing it out and adding a walk-in, modern shower but sentimentality won't allow me to do that. I always hope our guests will enjoy it's charms and quirks ... those of Pfirst House and of Portland for that matter. Keep Portland Weird! Honestly, we do greatly appreciate your thoughtful review, your kindness and how well you cared for our place during your stay. You were both a delight. Come back soon! :)

Fantastic Value!

  • 5 of 5

This property lived up to the description and owner's Nico and Pamela do everything to ensure a memorable stay. The home was clean and comfortable meeting all of our expectations. In addition, it is centrally located for easy access to all points of interest by way of Portland's impressive mass transit system.

We also discovered prior to our trip that Nico also provides private wine tours to the Willamette Valley! We booked our tour in advance and had a fantastic day. Enjoying wonderful wines from smaller boutique vineyards where we were welcomed as friends instead of just another group of tourists. Our tour also included a fantastic lunch in the small town of Carlton at the Horse Radish Restaurant.

Having booked many VRBO properties over the years I give Nico and Pamela high marks for their hospitality and attentiveness to the details. Portland is a fun destination! Lots to discover in a vibrant community with lots of history and diversity to offer. We had an exceptional visit and it all started when we checked in at the Pfirst House!

Thank you Nico and Pamela we'll be back!

Pfirst House was charming, comfortable, and well stocked! The deck is nice for a bit of quiet outdoor time on a nice day. The neighborhood is cute, calm, and convenient - right on the yellow line. We greatly enjoyed our stay! Recommendation - take a stroll about half a mile northeast to Peninsula Park to see the neighborhood rose garden.

Cute place

  • 4 of 5

The house is cute, and though it's listed as a house rental, you are not renting the house just the first floor. There is a unit above and below. The house also doesn't have air conditioning, which apparently isn't usually an issue but the city was experiencing unusually warm weather during our visit.

Overall, there really wasn't anything wrong with the house. It's adorably decorated, the beds are comfortable, Pamela was kind enough to put a few fans in the space for us, and we really appreciated its proximity to the Max line. For the price, though, we would have preferred a traditional hotel. That's just our preference, though, and I can absolutely see the appeal of Pfirst House for others. Lots of cute little personal touches like a guest book to share experiences and collage wall of things to do in the area.

The only reason I took off a star was the lack of a/c and listening to a dog bark late our last night, unable to close windows without loosing what cooling option we did have, when we had to get up for flights the next morning.
