Waterfront was awesome and we enjoyed the back patio overlooking the lake! Some people said before that the neighbors were cantankerous but we had no problems. Would definitely recommend.
Great location, super service!
Working with Page was great. She was super responsive and very helpful in anything we needed. The property was great - a friendly dog from a few houses down came to visit the kids, they had fun catching lightning bugs and playing in the yard, and the location was great, right on the lake! The only thing preventing it from being 5 stars was that the dishes were dirty and a few kitchen staples I would have expected were not there (dry measuring cups, large sharp knives).
Truly horrible and stressful, disappointing experience
We marked "not really" for did we enjoy our stay, but your website changed our response to "I loved it." This was a disastrous place that has convinced us not to ever use VRBO again. It is far from a great fishermans retreat. It is waterfront, but the grass was so tall that unless you wanted chiggers and wet shoes, you wouldn't fish there. It was impossible to fish from the dock due to extremely shallow water and thick grass. The day before we arrived, Page advised we could not park in the driveway, which is shared with a "rude" irate neighbor. We were instructed to park in a gravel area in front, and to enter the house we had a choice to walk down loose gravel on a hill, or walk all the way to the rear of the house to access the porch. Key code was not working, so she provided one regular key, which only opened the back door, not the front door or the door off the back porch into the house. When we arrived, there was no power in the master bedroom or bathroom. We contacted Page and were told there would be a delay until her husband got home from work. A few hours later, we contacted her again and when she suggested an electrician could come the next day, we asked about the breaker box. We then flipped 3 breakers that had been tripped, and got power in the bedroom only. When we flipped the last breaker, fire flew out of the wall socket under the front window next to the breaker box;, which we told her was dangerous. Late the next morning when we hadn't heard from her, we texted and learned she'd not done anything - was at kindergarden graduation. When we arrived at the house late afternoon, we discovered the electrician in the house by himself without the owner present . He informed us we had power in the bathroom now, but he mistakenly thought we were the owners, and he informed us the breaker box was outdated and dangerous. The commode seats in both bathroom were hanging by a thread and the master bathroom commode ran periodically all day and all night long.
Unforchantly you can’t make everyone happy. Some people are just old and grumpy. I’m really sad that this guest gave me such a bad review. Even after I got the breaker fixed the guest called and locked themselves out. I drove an extra 45 minutes out of my way from my family to unlock the door. I have a gravel parking pad up front that I put in because my neighbor and myself have a joint driveway. I choose to avoid conflict and ask my guest to park in the parking pad. The guest never mentioned any of this in person. The breaker had tripped. The light wasn’t working. I’m not an electrician. I had no idea the light wasn’t working. I contacted the electrician as soon as I was notified. I paid extra for the company to come ASAP and contacted the guests as to when he would be there. I went to my sons graduation because there was nothing I could do to speed up. I contacted the guest as soon as the electrician was on the way. You do have to walk in the grass to get to the dock. When it rains or rains a lot it will get your feet wet. I could go on trying to defend myself and my rental but Sometimes things happen beyond my control. I do my best to make sure everything is clean and working before my guests arrive. This is the first time I’ve had any kind of complaint. I’m sorry the guest didn’t feel I was accommodating.
