309 is a two-bedroom apartment with two baths. It's our largest apartment at almost 1000 sq. ft. and can sleep up to six.
All of our apartments are stocked with kitchen and bathroom essentials, blow dryers, irons, ironing boards, and free wifi access.
The master bedroom is large, with two double-hung windows looking out over E. Pike. The bed is a California king, extra long and very comfortable. The master bathroom is split into two areas--a shower and toilet in a small room by themselves, and a sink / vanity counter set back off the entry alcove.
The second bedroom is in the middle of the apartment, so it's shielded from street noise. It's the most quiet of all our bedrooms. The window looks out into a light well, letting in natural light but not street noise.
The bathroom in the hall has a claw-foot tub with shower.
In the kitchen there is a gas range, vented microwave, full size fridge and a complete selection of cookware, plates, glasses, even cooking oil and a few spices--everything you need to cook and eat in the apartment. There is a small two person table.
The front door opens to a long hall with original V.G. Fir flooring. It's been there since 1905 and was covered for many years with linoleum tiles and then with carpet. When we bought the building we decided to restore some of the wood floors. It turned out to be much harder than we thought, since the old tiles were stuck with some sort of felt paper that would only come up with hand scraping, an inch at at time. The result was worth it. The floors have a depth of color and they are beautiful. This building has such a long and interesting history, it's a treat to stay here!
Please be aware that this is an urban environment. In our neighborhood you can expect to encounter people from all walks of life and hear noise, often late into the evening. If a silent outdoor environment is important to you, this part of Seattle may not be the best place for you to stay. That being said, St. John's is an incredible place to experience the city from, and we have security systems, triple-pane windows to reduce the street noise as well as white noise machines in the bedrooms to make sure you sleep easy.

St. John's is located about 8 blocks from the Washington State Convention Center, on the same street. It's an easy walk. After you pass by the Center you're in the downtown shopping district with Nordstrom's, Macy's and all the big name stores. If you keep going you end at the Pike Place Market, one of Seattle's big tourist draws. (For a good reason, it's a fun place!) The entire walk from us to the market is 16 blocks.
Other Activities: We're in the middle of a very lively neighborhood. Exploring it will give you days of fun. Across the street is a large grocery store, a drug store, dry cleaners and a UPS shipping facility. There are many botiques, restaurants and night spots in the neighborhood.

About: We have eight short terms rental units in the same building, which Oda owns. She has St. John's as an investment, but she's not a big real estate investor, it's her only building. We've had a very good experience with it, the location is excellent and the people we've met here are wonderful. It's a great neighborhood, vibrant, filled with things to do and places to go. It's much better than downtown Seattle, which closes up shop in the evening and has an empty, big tall buildings. Our area comes alive at night, filled with restaurants, bars and boutiques. It's like being in New York City or maybe Paris, except since it's Seattle, everybody's friendly here. Please be aware that this is an urban environment. Why Downtown, Seattle, WA, USA:
RESTAURANTS: If you're new to the area you will be surprised by how many great restaurants there are within a few short blocks of St. John's. We have three in the building: The Other Coast Cafe features East Coast Style Sandwiches, St. John's Bar and Eatery is an American/bistro, and Ayutthaya is a Thai restaurant. All of these are great places! On our block there is yet another fun place for lunch-a sandwich shop called The Honey Hole. Heading toward Broadway, there is a Subway and the QFC Grocery Store. Once you get to Broadway there are restaurants in every direction, several to choose from, on every block. Without trying hard we could name 25 great eateries, all within a short walk. It's a diner's delight!
