Nice Location, BUT

  • 2 of 5

Stayed here three night with another couple. We had a pontoon boat so the dock space and the location was a real plus. The problems were as follows. 1) The dock was not adjusted properly and you could not access the boats without going through water so shoes had to be removed every time in and out. 2) The place was kindof dirty with cobwebs and we found a condom in one of the drawers so the cleaners need to be more thorough, 3) There was absolutely zero access to the upper bunk in the smaller room so we had to remove the pad and one person slept on the floor. 4) They had these strange plastic covers over the mattresses that were covered by t he sheets that made for an uncomfortable sleep. 5) Price was way too much for this space.

Nice accommodations for the money

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was peaceful and the check-in and check-out process was seamless. Although clean and tidy, this rental is no-frills. The refrigerator is noisy so I recommend a small fan for white noise if that may bother you during the night.

Wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

So clean with very up to date kitchen stocked with all the essentials. Large comfy couch and open dining area made it easy for our group of 6 to be together in the evenings. Bedrooms/beds comfortable and set up for maximizing space. Bathroom clean and shower easy to use. BBQ on patio worked great. Boat slip right there so convenient to leave our boat in the water for the whole time. Large grassy area out front shared with the resort nice place to sit in the shade in the afternoons. We boated, wake boarded, tubed, paddleboarded, swam, fished, and floated around on our giant pool floats. Excellent getaway. Great price. Super friendly gentleman neighbor/owner who answered any questions we had. Also all communication we had in renting was super prompt and helpful. Such a fun little place, felt like home but ON the lake. 😀?

Clean but uncomfertable place. Note this place DOESNT have a QUEEN bed as indicated!!

  • 2 of 5

I was visiting Lake Almanor from San Francisco and booked 3 nights at this place in late May 2017. Unfortunately I didn't like the place and ended up leaving after two nights only.

Here is an objective list of pros and cons of the place:

Pros:

Very clean with updated kitchen and bathroom

Very close proximity to the lake with some views of the lake from the living room

Walking distance from supermarket and a restaurant

Very attentive and responsive property owner

Wifi and TV worked adequately

Cons:

- The description says that there is a room with a queen size bed . That is UNTRUE. The bed is a full bed or just slightly bigger than a full bed but no where near a Queen sized bed. This meant that me and my wife couldn't sleep together in the same room.

- This is a basement unit. So even though the weather outside was warm and gorgeous (in the mid 70's) the house was extremely cold to the extent that we had to wear jackets and turn the heaters on in late may.

- The two mobile heaters that were available were extremely noisy so we couldn't fall asleep while they were on. This meant that we had to sleep with our jackets on cause it was freezing in the house.

- The fridge was also VERY noisy to the extent that we had to unplug it at night (fortunately we didn't have any food in it that could have gone bad)

- The unit on top of us was rented out and we could hear every step they make. Also every time they flushed the toilette we could hear it in the bedroom as if we were with them inside the bathroom.

As I said the property manager was very tentative and understanding and ended refunding me 50% for my last night that I didn't spend in the place.

Owner's Response: We just measured the bed in question......it is definitelly a Queen-sized bed (60" x 80"). The refrigerator is being repaired as soon as it can be scheduled (works fine, just a little noisy when the motor runs). We ran the heaters and don't think that they are unusually noisy.......just large electric heaters. Sorry that the gentleman was unhappy. The cabin is very clean and very nicely appointed. It is the bottom floor of a two-story building, but not a basement. The back bedrooms are recessed into the hillside a bit which only makes for cool sleeping when it is hot in the summer.
