Brief break - Chelsea Cottage
We had a lovely break - would have enjoyed a little more sunshine but the weather did not stop us from enjoying our time.
Since my booking process was more scatty than usual we were delighted that the sea view which was such a strong influence did not disappoint.
Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, even though you didn't get such good weather. The view is always interesting with so much shipping passing by.
With best wishes

Wonderful living room/sun room space with a view you never want to leave. The entire place is very clean and the location is superb. My only suggestion is that the bedding could be updated. Would definitely book again.
Thank you for you review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay.
With regard to the suggestion of updating the bedding, I would like to assure future guests that the duvets themselves and all the single duvet covers were all brand new this spring. We have a selection of duvet covers for the double bed, and although we haven't replaced them this year, they are not very old, and as far as I am aware are in good condition. They may not be to everyone's taste, but that is impossible to manage in a home that is let to lots of different people. I will certainly check them all when we are down there next and replace if need be.
Cosy and compact
Enjoyed our stay. Steep stairs to bedrooms was a concern especially as our 8 year old tends to end up in our bed in the morning. Crossing the landing with a steep staircase was a cause of concern. Also, wash basin taps never gave out hot water despite our best efforts in following the guidance. Parking in street is an issue as space is limited. The free car park is a steep climb for those less able. Great to have selection of dvds and games for late evening family time.
Thank you for writing your review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay, and were able to make use of the games and DVD’s.
We are very sorry that there was a problem with the hot water - it has never happened before. We will get the plumber in straight away to check it out. We always aim to get any issue sorted out quickly, but as we do not live nearby we have to rely on our guests to let us know if there is a problem.
The stairs are indeed quite steep, but there is a strong and sturdy hand rail and we do provide stairgates that can be used at night to make crossing the little step between the bedrooms safer.
Parking can be an issue at times, but we are lucky to be able to stop across the road to unload. We tend to use the streets towards Bonchurch, as described on our map rather that the Wheeler's Bay car park, which avoids the steep climb.
We hope that you enjoyed exploring Ventnor and other parts of the Island, and were lucky with the weather.
With best wishes

Lovely, comfortable cottage with beautiful view
The cottage is well located - just a short walk from Ventnor town centre, the beach, beautiful walking routes and local buses. The town has lots of good pubs, restaurants and takeaways and a fantastic fish and chip shop on the seafront. We loved the beautiful view over the sea from the main bedroom, living room and garden. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped for cooking and entertainment (WiFi, tv, games, books etc). We’ll definitely return. Thank you for a great holiday!
We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Chelsea Cottage. We hope that you'll come again sometime.

Chelsea Cottage is peacefully situated on a hill with a stunning panoramic view overlooking the English Channel and only 5 minutes from the shops. It is ideal for those wanting a relaxing holiday. For a more active holiday, there are many beaches with safe swimming to choose from, wonderful walking on coastal, downland and woodland paths and it is a great place for cycling and golf. Nearby are the beautiful Ventnor Botanic Garden and the Donkey Sanctuary. The picturesque Bonchurch beach and village where Charles Dickens and other famous Victorian writers stayed is a short walk away. There are many places of interest such as Queen Victoria's residence Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle and Brading Roman Villa. With the Dinosaur Museum, the Steam Railway, family-friendly pubs and theme parks at Blackgang Chine and Robin Hill there is plenty for all the family. The West Wight has wonderful beaches and walks leading to Tennyson Down, Alum Bay and the Needles.
