Hello,

I'm David Hober, the very excited, proud new owner of Surf Dweller #708. I just purchased this condo in 2017.

I'm the owner and managing broker of Hober Realty and Dixie Living Property Management in Atlanta, Ga. I've been in the real estate business in Atlanta since 1985.

I've have always dreamed of owning a place at the beach. I'm so thankful that I've finally made it happen! Our plan is to renovate the condo and keep it in the rental market for the next several years. Then someday, when I retire, we'll move in full time.

Why David Hober chose Ft Walton Beach

We watched the real estate market for over a year, waiting for just the right property to come along. We are so excited to have purchased this condo; it meets all our criteria.

Requirement #1: It had to be beach "front". Not a side view or a view of the ocean off in the distance. Full on beachFRONT!! There is no road or buildings or pool between you and your view of the beach/ocean. It's just white sand and blue/green water for as far as you can see in all directions!

Requirement #2: We wanted a huge balcony and lots of windows showing the breathtaking views. This condo has one of the largest balconies we could find (30 feet wide). Plus instead of just a window and a sliding glass door to the beach, we have 4 sets of sliding glass doors. Basically floor to ceiling, wall to wall glass looking out onto the beach/ocean. This is in the living room and the master bedroom. And because we're on the top floor, the guest room has a view of the Santa Rosa Sound (the other side of the island).

Requirement #3: We wanted some SPACE. So many of the other condos felt like hotel rooms. We are planning to move into this condo someday (once we retire). So, we wanted somewhere that we could picture ourselves living (not in a space the size of a hotel). So, this is one of the largest 2BR/2BA floor plans we could find - 1453 sq feet. That's the size of a small house! Every room is spacious. We could live here (and I can't wait!).

Roomy , with great layout, nicely decorated and awesome balcony

I've been to the gulf area 8 times over the last several years. Always stay in 2 bedroom, oceanfront units. This layout was by far my favorite. Larger than any others. Extra large balcony overlooking ocean. Others are always skimpy on the amount of bath and bed linens and with four adults we have to wash them every night. But that wasn't a problem here. David was well stocked. Also has a full size washer and dryer so when laundry does need to be done you can wash more than two towels at once as is the case in most of the condos we use because they have the small stacking washer and driers. And David also accommodated our need for a five night stay when many others only do a full week stay. Would recommend it to others.

A few months ago when we were remodeling, we tried to think of everything that could make a stay at the beach more enjoyable: providing beach chairs and umbrellas, beach toys, tennis rackets, hair dryers, big screen TVs in every room, luxury towels and bed linens, etc. But, the view and the top floor, 30 foot wide balcony were the main reasons we purchased this condo in the first place. It was the largest most spacious floorplan we could find. Thank you so much for taking good care of our beach home (our cleaning crew said you left it in great condition). Much Needed Break

We were very impressed with this unit. It was clean and spacious enough for our family. We felt at home. The furnishings were lovely and up to date. We usually have to run to the store to pick up something for the kitchen but it had everything we needed for our meal preparation. We also enjoyed having beach chairs available for us as well as pool and beach items. We will definitely try to stay here again. Kim

Gorgeous condo with a gorgeous view!!

We loved everything about this condo! It had everything we needed for our stay. The beds are very comfortable along with the feather pillows (which i would love to know the brand/type of to purchase for my own)! We enjoyed the extra spacious balcony and loved how the beach is just steps away. We took advantage of the beach supplies and enjoyed not having to purchase these items. This condo was perfect for our stay and I would stay and recommend this condo again and again! The umbrella/chair guys on the beach were very accommodating in having ours set up each day of our stay, very polite and helpful! The only downside would have to be the elevator maintence while we were there, only one working elevator on our side of the condo, having extra wait times, but overall not too bad.

Great top floor condo with amazing view! The condo itself was very clean and fresh!

The property was very clean with elevator access located at each end of the building to include the two in the center. Unfortunately, only one of the two center elevators was operational which made the wait time a little longer.

The swimming pool was very nice. I liked the fact that it had a shallow end along with a deep end for more advance swimming. There was also a “kiddy” pool available as well as a very nice deck and patio area. The downside to the pool is that it was located in the parking lot between the front of the building and main highway. I prefer a more private and tropical feel and look.

There was outdoor grills available for cooking and plenty of them.

For vacationing families, a downside to this condominium (and this is just personal preference as well) is there isn’t anything such as restaurants or shops within a comfortable walking distance. This required us to drive to whatever activity we had for the day or evening.

Our condo was very clean and fresh!

A fully functional kitchen to include every and any type of dish, glass, pot, pan and appliance we could ever need.

The two full bathrooms was a must for this family of 6 and the bedrooms (especially the master with its own balcony access) was very comfortable and spacious.

One thing I would suggest would be to have rugs laid out along the beds over the tiled floor for cleanliness and comfort.

The living area was opened to the dining area so there was plenty of room to spread out and still hold conversations without feeling cramped or having to speak too loud.

The owner of our condo also took thought in keeping beach toys and chairs available for guests along with some indoor games such as playing cards and board games to occupy some rainy days or evening fun.

I give it 3 out of 5 because of the Surf Dweller condominium itself.

The location of the building and the location of the pool, though not major issues and more of just personal preferences, were some downers for me.

The non-operational elevator in the center (main travel area of the condominium) was a bit of a hinderance to its guests.

Overall, this condo was a good choice and fit for our family. I would recommend it.

Our overall experience of the condo was very nice. It was very nicely decorated, comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen. The condo was very clean and everything worked. The view was out of this world beautiful. Mr. Hober was very easy to work with as far as the contract, rules and directions. I would highly recommend his condo and would rent it again if we visit the Ft Walton Beach area again.

Very impressive condo

We've stayed in Destin a few times and this is definitely the best condo. The view is fantastic - you can just sit on the balcony all day and watch the ocean. Also they have thought of every amenity. It's just like being home. We will stay again.

1) Our weekly rentals are from Saturday (check in) to Saturday (check out). Saturday is our "turn over day". Each Saturday begins a new week (and a new weekly rental). Therefore, during peak Spring and Summer season, we may not be able to approve any rentals that are not from Saturday to Saturday. Sorry.
2) The guest making the reservation must be at least 25 years old.
3) We require a signed 'short term rental agreement' as well as a copy of the guest's driver's license.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
