Ahhh! Slow down, relax and enjoy!
Come coast awhile in this charming and delightful 2 bedroom, beach front condo in Akumal, Mexico (one hour south of Cancun). La Bahia #3 is on the second floor with walls of windows for amazing ocean views from every room. La Bahia is an eco-friendly building with only 8 units right on the middle of sandy Half Moon Bay. Snorkel with sea turtles, go diving in the morning and take yoga classes in the afternoon. I can highly recommend Budha Spa for a massage or facial. Walk to wonderful beach front restaurants or take a siesta in our hammock. Don't forget to stop at Turtle Bay Cafe and Bakery for the very best breakfast and brownies!

Enjoy the simple Caribbean pleasures and soothe your soul at La Bahia Condos. Mi Casa, es su casa.
We have been coming to Mexico on vacation and scuba diving for over 15 years. Fell in love with Akumal on one of our trips and decided that this is where we want to retire. We have put alot of time and love into our condo to make it magical for all our guests. We truly hope that you enjoy La Bahia and Akumal as much as we do.
Donna Clark purchased this condo in 2007

Hi Donna, Thanks for the e-mail. We had a wonderful time in Akumal, your condo was great. The staff was fabulous. Thanks for everything Tom
We just loved this condo so much we came back exactly one year later for another visit. The amazing views, the amazing staff, the locals too... all amazing. We even got to watch baby turtles leave there nest and run to the ocean! This condo is great for families, couples or a friend group getaway. If your looking for a quiet, spacious, relaxing stay in a beautiful hidden gem of a beachtown, this is definitely the place!
This condo is one of the best on Half Moon Bay. Has everything one needs for a great stay. This is not my first stay at this condo (have stayed at least 3 other times) but I am always pleasantly reminded how great the décor is and the view. I will also say that the Staff that manages and cares for La Bahia is the best. This trip the Security Guard asked if we wanted to be awakened at night if there was "turtle action" on the beach. We said yes and he faithfully came to get us no matter the time of night. As a result we saw turtle hatch and turtles laying eggs. Very pleasant and engaging young man and it was fun trying to learn enough Spanish to communicate with him. The owner of this condo is also fabulous to work with. Love the place, love the condo. Please do wear your life vests and snorkel with a buddy! Unfortunately while we were there an older gentleman staying at a different condo apparently had a medical issue and passed away while snorkeling. There were many good Samaritans that helped and the Staff at La Bahia did what they could as well, even though the person wasn't staying at La Bahia. It was a very difficult situation for the family and all of us on the beach when it occurred.
The view is incredible.
The location is great.
You can walk to a couple of restaurants for dinner (La Lunita which had great food and La Buenna Vida where the food wasn't good still a nice place to chill).
The main beach in Akumal is the place to hang out for the day.
I recommend renting a Palapa with a couple of lounge chairs for $20 next to the restaurant there (La Hoya restaurant)
The snorkeling is the best anywhere.
Plenty of turtles...
Akumal has had more development including Secrets Hotel but Akumal has retained its charm through the years.
My wife and I truly enjoyed the condo and spent hours in the Hammock.
Highly recommend the place!!!
Staying at this condo in Akumal was a serious piece of heaven... The private location, amazing panoramic beach front views were amazing from sunrise to sunset. The decor, the bedding, bathrooms and other condo amenities made our stay simply amazing. The staff in the office were very kind and always there to help. They also had beach cruiser bikes to rent for 7$ a day that made it easy to get into the town. If your looking for a romantic getaway, a girls getaway trip or even a family trip without al the hustle bustle of a city, this is the place. The town has plenty of restaurants and convenient stores to supply your needs. Just a few doors down there is a restaurant called "La Beuna Vida," we literally ate their for every meal. Also, the owner was very easy to work with and seems to be a very kind person. We most definitely will return!!!
La Bahia is a great building. Service from the property management team was top notch. The unit that we stayed in #3 is quaint. It is a little outdated but living space is comfortable. The bedrooms with their own bathrooms are a nice layout, however the beds are terrible. We were advised several times that the second bedroom could and would be setup with a king size bed (pushing the two singles together, etc) not only was this not done the beds aren't the same height and the mattresses are rock hard and the edges even worse, therefore when pushed together with no bumper or connection piece, makes for a very uncomfortable sleep. The king size bed in the other bedroom at least had a small foam on top but was still very hard and uncomfortable. We cooked during our stay and also had Chef Daveed cook for us (wonderful experience) and we had temperature trouble with the oven. Things took way longer. Also if you are wine drinkers, there was not one wine glass in the cupboards. All things considered, we loved Akumal and La Bahia and would recommend it to all! With new beds or better sleeping conditions we would definitely rent this condo again.
We had our first trip to mexico, and over the 10 days, we stayed at 4 different places. Out of the 4, this one was the BEST!
-Awesome views of ocean and coconut trees
-very comfy bed, and lots of space.
-good value for the price!
-the condo management was friendly and helped us with our luggage and gave suggestions for groceries and restaurants
-midway between akumal bay and yal ku, so you can pick and choose your day
-turtles right outside the condo !
- I was told that the management team would come and knock on our doors if the turtles are hatching.. well they didn't. but luckily, we went out for a stroll on the beach and noticed everyone else around the area cheering on for the little baby turtles. Good thing we didn't miss this magical moment. But it would be nice if they had told us.
-if you don't have a car, which we did, if would be a long 20min walk in the sun to get to either akumal or yal ku (or rent a golf cart)
basically, this spacious 2 room condo was excellent for the price given. We would definitely plan another trip and staying here again!!
one suggestion about snorkeling at akumal bay-- our family were all novice snorkelers, my dad didn't even swim. We rented life jackets from the dive shop, and went around spotting our own turtles. I don't think you need a tour guide for this. Just swim around and you will see them! Best to go earlier in the morning (9~10am)
From the Cancun Airport. Mexican Federal Highway 307 South, about 60 miles, past Playa del Carmen. You will see the exit for Akumal (clearly marked). Take a left. There is ONE road through Akumal. Go under the arches, veer left, about a mile down on the right hand side, the only gold/yellow building, clearly marked La Bahia, office is in front. You will pick up the key here.
