4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, Sleeps 10
As soon as you drive up to Echota, you’ll know that this is no ordinary Smoky Mountain cabin. Its eye-catching design and expansive wraparound deck set it apart, just as its leafy yet supremely convenient location makes it the perfect home base for taking advantage of everything the area has to offer.
A 4-bedroom, 3-story A-frame, Echota can sleep up to 10 people. Because 3 of its bedrooms have king-size beds, it’s perfect for several couples or families who want to vacation together. The 4th bedroom sleeps 4 people in a pair of queen-size beds. The kids will love making this space their own; every night will seem like a slumber party.
A towering, dramatically slanted ceiling distinguishes the great room on the main floor. Large picture windows let in plenty of sunlight as well as luscious views of the surrounding woodlands. You’ll feel as if you’re vacationing in a treehouse—though we don’t know of any treehouses with sofas as marvelously comfortable as Echota’s. This room includes a TV with cable, rocking chairs, and a stone-surround fireplace. When you return from skiing or snowboarding—the cabin is only a few minutes from Ski Mountain and Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area—you’ll relish warming yourself by the fire with a mug of hot cocoa or Irish coffee.
The dining table seats 6 people with room to spare, and the breakfast bar can accommodate another 5. You can serve the kids their dinner at the breakfast bar while the adults linger over their meal at the table. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, gadgets, cookware, and tableware. You’ll find all the gear you need, whether you’re preparing a Thanksgiving feast or heating leftovers from the previous night’s restaurant meal (and there are scores of restaurants just a short ride away).
One of Echota’s many advantages is its wealth of space where you can hang out with the whole gang or slip away for some quiet time. The loft, for instance, includes a cozy sitting area perfect for curling up with a book or stretching out with your tablet to take advantage of the free WiFi. Also in the loft is a table for 4 where you can enjoy an impromptu poker night or the kids can play board games or work on crafts.
The downstairs game room, on the other hand, can accommodate a crowd. A full-size pool table takes center stage, but a 2nd fireplace, another TV, and an additional sumptuous couch add to the room’s appeal.
Then there are Echota’s outdoor spaces. The patio boasts a large hot tub. After a day spent hiking, snowshoeing, or white-water rafting, your muscles will appreciate a long soak in the fresh mountain breeze. And don’t forget the huge wraparound deck, furnished with chairs and tables so that you can savor the panoramic views anytime of day or night, by yourself or with family and friends.
Echota’s other amenities include 3 full bathrooms and a half-bath, a private washer and dryer, ample parking, and free access to the community pool throughout the summer.
Perhaps best of all is how close the chalet is to the area’s most popular attractions. Like Ober Gatlinburg, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is just a 5-minute drive from Echota; you can explore it on foot, on bike, on horseback, or by car.
Within 10 minutes you can be in downtown Gatlinburg, home to the Guinness World Records Adventure, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, thrill rides, arcades, mini golf, shops, and so much more. And the attractions of Pigeon Forge, including Dollywood, Parrot Mountain and Gardens, dinner theaters, and the Titanic Museum, are only a half-hour away.

Was way over priced.
Smelt like mold. There were multiple wet spots in the carpet. Wash had over flowed as well. One TV, that worked. The pictures are decietful... don't recommend at all.
Thank you for taking the time Ethan to share your comments. We have passed along your comments to the owner who is addressing issue with the property which include a deep cleaning. Again, thank you for sharing. On your next stay in our area, we hope you give us another chance to exceed your expectations.
Older run down unit.
May have been nice once but this place has been let go for awhile. There are broken light fixtures, rotten wood on the ourside, mold in the bathroom, and a musty smell throughout the unit. We only stayed one night and that is only because we arrived at midnight. I would NEVER stay there again!!!!
Thank you Dustin for taking the time to share your comments. It is our goal to meet guests expectations upon arrival. We apologies for falling short of those goals. We want you to know that since your stay the owner is working on issues you mentioned including new light fixtures. Again, thank you for sharing. On your next stay in our area, we hope you give us another chance to exceed your expectations.
This place grows on you
I have to admit my initial reaction was not favorable. This is definitely a little older place that could use some tender loving care. That being said, everything was functional and there was ample space for our family. Proximity to town is great! Inclines of roads to get to the property are very steep-- Kind of scary for those of us who live in areas where the land is completely flat. Plus we had the added excitement of multiple bear sightings/encounters.
Tracy, thank you for taking time to review Echota. We are pleased you were able to have excitement of bear sighting during your stay. We look forward to having you stay with us again on your next trip to Gatlinburg.
A bit dirty outside; inside, musty odor lingered..
Our first impression was not good. Outside, there was lots of algae, mold, and cobwebs. When we first opened the door to go inside, we were taken aback by the musty smell. After a couple of days of running the AC, and spraying Lysol, the smell inside seemed to be gone. The house is one of the older ones on the mountain, but was basically clean inside. The upstairs bedroom was poorly lit but otherwise OK. Beds clean and comfy. Upper loft off the upstairs bedroom was creepy and had lots of cobwebs.
Bathrooms OK. Other bedrooms OK. Kitchen very outdated (no toaster, but a poorly operating toaster oven).
No way I'd get in the hot tub. The moldy smell was awful down there.
This home is on a bear highway! Saw bears on the property 4 out of the 5 days we were there.
TV and internet cable was hooked up incorrectly; we called maintenance and they were there within an hour to fix it.
Thank you Joe for taking the time to review our property. Your input, as well as all our guest feedback in vitally important as we want all guest expectations to be met upon arrival. We apologies to you for falling short of yours. We do want you to know that our hot tubs are drained and cleaned after each guest check-out. With that said, if a guest has any issues with hot tubs they can call our 24/7 service department. Your additional comments have been passed along to the owner. A trip to the Smokies is lacking if you don't see black bears and we are glad you were able to see many while you were here. We hope on your next visit to the Smokies you will give us the chance to exceed our expectations.
Disappointed with stay.
Place is not maintained good. The furniture is quite old and stinking. Bathrooms are worse. Not worth for money we paid.
Amanda, thank you for sharing your review of Echota. We have passed on your suggestions to the owner. Again, your input is vitally important to us as we want all guest expectations to be met upon arrival. We do apologies for falling short. On your next trip to the Smokies we hope you stay with us again, giving us a chance to exceed all your expectations.
