Overview

About the property

6 Bedrooms, 5.5 Baths, Sleeps 20

A private indoor heated pool. A home theater with a huge screen and cinema-style seating. A game room with a pool table. An outdoor hot tub. These are just some of the luxuries you’ll enjoy during your stay at Grand Bear Lodge.

A 6-bedroom custom-built log home that can accommodate up to 20 guests, Grand Bear Lodge is within the Maranatha Resort, on the outskirts of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The lodge is less than 2 miles from the Cosby ranger station, in an out-of-the-way section of the park that few visitors frequent. If you like hiking, wildflowers, and spectacular, unspoiled views, you’ll love having this area of the park just off your doorstep. The Gabes Mountain Trail will take you to the 90-foot-high Hen Wallow Falls; a spur of the Lower Mount Cammerer Trail will lead you to the aw-inspiring Sutton Ridge Overlook. What’s more, Grand Bear Lodge is close to Cosby Creek, where you can fish for trout—which you can then cook on the cabin’s charcoal grill!

In addition to the outdoor grill, Grand Bear Lodge has a roomy kitchen with stainless-steel appliances, cookware and tableware galore, and plenty of counter space so that you can prepare gourmet feasts for a crowd—or simply whip up margaritas to enjoy on the deck. With 2 tables and a breakfast bar, the dining area can seat 19 people at a time.

The dining area is part of the main floor’s great room. With its high cathedral ceiling, leather sofas, lustrous wood-planked walls and floor, and stone-surround fireplace, this is a warm, welcoming space for hanging out with family and friends. Kick back and watch TV, enjoy après-ski drinks by the fire, or take advantage of the open space for a game of charades.

For more fun and games, head upstairs to the game room. The pool table is the star attraction, but there are arcades up there too, along with plenty of carpeted floor space for the kids to sprawl out on with their toys and games. If a day of hiking or horseback riding has left you too tired even to shoot pool, relax in the downstairs home theater. Bring your favorite DVDs and Blu-ray movies, pop a big batch of popcorn, and settle back in one of the 11 cinema-style chairs or a bean bag to watch a private showing on the huge projection screen.

The deck’s hot tub provides relaxation of a different sort. The massaging jets of steamy water will feel so rejuvenating after a day on the go. Afterward you can lounge in a deck rocker and listen to the crickets and whip-poor-wills while admiring the star-studded night sky. Or take a dip in the large heated indoor pool, just off the great room. There’s something especially luxurious about floating in your private pool in the middle of winter, after returning from snowshoeing or snow tubing.

All 6 bedrooms have their own TV and the same rustic yet elegant furnishings as the rest of Grand Bear Lodge. The master suite is particularly sumptuous; in addition to a king-size bed and a private bathroom, it boasts a large Jacuzzi. Another bedroom has a king-size bed as well as a sofa bed that sleeps 2; this makes it handy for any family in your group that has little ones who want to be in the same bedroom as their parents. Two more bedrooms include queen-size beds, and the remaining 2 feature bunk beds.

Along with 6 bedrooms, Grand Bear Lodge includes 5 full bathrooms and a half-bath. Other amenities include free WiFi, cable TV, a washer and dryer, and a grassy backyard for the kids to run around in.

If you want to relish the great outdoors but also revel in pampering extras, Grand Bear Lodge is for you. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds. Book your stay today!

Absolutely amazing

  • 4 of 5

I stayed in Grand bear Lodge this past weekend, June 29-July 1st so you can imagine it was pretty hot, and upon arrival the cabin was not cool. After a couple of hours the entire cabin cooled down and it was fine. There was so much space, we had 15 people and space was never an issue. The beds were extremely comfortable, and everything was clean which I appreciated. The inside swimming pool was a game changer! I will never rent a cabin without one after experiencing the convenience and fun it provided. The movie theatre was really nice too, it was set up with a projector and surround sound that was of professional quality. We called the maintenance guy for stupid reasons that we could have figured out, but regardless of the reason he came promptly, was friendly, and made us feel welcome. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The only issue we had was the bears. They were on the front porch at one point. They don't mean humans any harm, but that is a very scary sight. We were afraid to go to the cars at night lol. With the exception of the bears, this was perfect.

AMAZING!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We will always stay here when opportunity is there!!!!! This cabin to us was in a league of it's own. We were able to relax, and our children kept themselves occupied with the pool, games and rooms. There was so many things that were at our fingertips in the kitchen, that was such a help. The beds were SO comfortable. GREAT GET AWAY!!!!

Amazing Cabin for Large Group

  • 5 of 5

We had a large group (19 people) and this was the perfect cabin. It has everything you need for a few days of fun. The theater room is the best one I have ever seen and the pool is a great bonus. The hot tub is very nice too. Nothing I would change!

House had plenty of room very clean. I definitely will go again. The only added request would be more pots and pans and large bowls.

Over all it was a great time

  • 4 of 5

I loved everything about he trip and the cabin. However I do have 2 complaints. The first one, I was never given the security code for the alarm system and had to deal with that. Not that big of a deal. My main issue was with the pool, as the water was green. Most of our group wouldn't even get in it. Other than that we had a blast and everything else was a good as expected if not better.

Owner's Response: Thank you staying with us and for taking the time to review our property and we are glad you had a great time at Grand Bear Lodge. Your input, and all our guest feed back are vitally important to us as we want all guests expectations to be met upon arrival. We apologize that there were issues with the code for your keyless entry. We take great stride to insure this doesn’t happen but, unfortunately computer programming sometimes fails. On a future stay, remember we offer a 24/7 on call service to address the issues with the pool. We would have been happy to get that taken care of for you while you were here. We look forward to having you stay with us in the near future.
