"Nature is not a place to visit. It is home." - GARY SNYDER
YOUR VERY OWN SANCTUARY Whether you're dining al fresco, luxuriating in a hot tub, or listening to the calming sounds of the front yard fountain, you'll be surrounded by a full pallette of color in this home's lovely multi-leveled garden. The backyard is secluded and quiet, with a beautiful terraced garden surrounded by redwoods. There are plenty of places for a quiet read, as well as a large patio area with bench seating and dining table to bring in a grand party for a meal prepared on the large gas barbeque. The heat lamp will keep everyone cozy on cool evenings. Nearby beaches are less than ten minutes away. Ten minutes in another direction will find you in downtown Santa Cruz with all of its ecclectic offerings; restaurants, farmer's market, theaters, music, art and shopping.
THREE'S COMPANY With three detached and private quarters, the arrangement of this property makes it ideal as a family compound. Each cozy environment is light-filled, has its own electric fireplace and attractive modern furnishings.
The 2-bedroom cottage is bright and airy. The living room has a HDTV and high quality stereo. It sleeps 4 (two couples or a family of four) on the main floor. The master bedroom has a queen bed and its own private bathroom and separate doorway to the deck with seating to look out over the back garden. A second bedroom can be outfitted with twin beds that can be combined into a king bed. The second bath is located next to this bedroom. There's a deck equipped with wicker gliders and a table, overlooking the garden, with access from the master bedroom and living room.
A large family room is in a separate building with audiophile sound system and large HDTV, gas fireplace, and plenty of room to spread out. The family room has a pull-out queen sofa bed, but no separate bathroom.
The studio can be added if you have MORE family and friends. It's located in the backyard patio level and has a full kitchen, dining, full bath, and a queen bed. The studio can be rented separately for longer corporate/work stays. Nestled among the serenity of redwoods, pine and eucalyptus you'll want to make this your home away from home.
The Buena Vista neighborhood was recently voted the best neighborhood in Santa Cruz in a recent poll in the Good Times Magazine. A walk in the neighborhood is entertainment in itself, with fancy upscale houses and oddly decorated cottages. You're a 10 minute walk to the railroad trestle bridge that crosses right to the Boardwalk and Main Beach. For a quieter experience, it is a short walk to Seabright Beach, the Santa Cruz Natural History Museum (locally known as the Whale Museum) and the business district. If you are traveling with children, you'll find a wonderful playground "Ocean View" just a block away - with a long slide - you don't see very often anymore! Santa Cruz's Museum of Natural History, a climbing gym or only a short walk away. A favorite and classic activity is roller skating at the Santa Cruz Roller Palladium - a 5 minute drive.
