Superb location, a short 2 1/2 blocks from St Charles Ave and the beautiful historic Garden District and hundreds of breathtaking mansions. St Charles Ave is also home to the uptown streetcar (trolley) line, which takes you to the French Quarter or way uptown to the university/Audubon Park area for only $1.25 per trip. You won't need a car at this fantastic location, but if you have one, the street parking is free. Magazine Street, and its endless restaurants and boutiques is a gorgeous 7 block walk from the house. Fresh Market is 5 blocks from the house, as is Rite Aid. Gracious Bakery and coffee, at 6th and St Charles Ave, is just a 3 block walk from the house. World famous Commander's Palace restaurant is just a 5 block walk. Walkability and location are the best assets of this location.

I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and graduated from Villanova (finance) and Philadelphia University (MBA International Business.) My career in banking allowed me to live in many great places, including 10 years in San Diego CA, Portland Oregon, Washington DC, and Florida. I vacationed in New Orleans for 15 years before buying a home here. It is an exciting and always interesting place to live, with endless choices for entertainment and dining.

This studio efficiency has everything you need to have a perfect New Orleans experience. The location, adjacent to the Garden District, and the St Charles Ave Streetcar is a perfect home-base. The cozy courtyard style deck provides a private outdoor area for cocktail before you head out on the town. It is also a beautiful place to have coffee in the morning or use internet.
By far, the best thing about this property is the location. I walk through the Garden District every day, and always see something new. I walk over to Magazine Street, window shop a bit, chat with people at the cafe tables. The atmosphere really can't be beat. If I want to meet up with friends in the French Quarter at night, I just walk a couple of blocks to the St Charles Streetcar, and enjoy the relaxing 3 mile ride downtown. My car stays safely at home. I don't have to worry about parking. I don't have to be concerned about drinking and driving. The streetcar runs 24 hours, but after midnight it only passes about ever 45 minutes. If I don't feel like waiting that long, an UBER or cab ride is only about $10 and 5 minutes. City Blue bikes are walking distance (St Charles and Jackson.)
This cute house made a great base to explore the city. Everything was new and spotlessly clean. We loved the private deck and enjoyed our coffee out there in the morning. Lots of good places to eat are within walking distance. We did take advantage of the streetcar since we had taken a cab from the airport. It was very smooth and easy. We will book again next time we are able to get down to New Orleans!
Thank you, Joanne, for a great stay. This rental is located near the St Charles Street trolley, shopping and dining on Magazine, and just a few minutes by trolley or uber/lyft from French Quarter. Just the right size for two, there's a great back deck on which to enjoy coffee or nightcaps. Joanne was very helpful, and the umbrellas came in handy on a particularly stormy day. We happened to be there during the French Quarter Fest and that was a blast! We will be back.
The cottage was clean, charming and well stocked. Joanne was very accommodating and made our short stay great. The bikes were perfect for exploring the city. We had fun in New Orleans and will return soon. A+!
Very nice and comfortable, every thing I could hope for , wife loved private patio in back , did her stretches had her breakfast while I relaxed in room
Overall check in was super easy and a great location. The private space is small but has everything you need (coffee, refridgerator, dishes, microwave, etc.). Very nice space and very close to the St. Charles Street car, making travel to anywhere in the city very quick and easy. The host was very attentive and provided ua with great info about the city and the area. Overall great experience.
We really enjoyed our stay here. It's quiet and comfortable and an easy Trolley ride from the more touristy things. The Trolley schedule was a bit of a guessing game but that was part of the fun. We often got back later in the evening and it would have been nice to sit on the deck but since Joanne lives right beside the 10pm deck curfew is understandable. We did have coffee there most mornings!
If you're looking for a quiet comfortable stay this is a good choice.
convenient location, clean unit, nice owner
Property is located in the perfect location to explore the city. Adjacent to the Garden District, and less than 3 blocks from the Historic St Charles Streetcar line, vacationing is smooth and easy. Dozens of restaurants, boutiques and pubs are an easy walk from the house. Magazine Street is filled with trendy stores, antique shops, and other unique offerings. Leave the car at home and hop on the streetcar, which runs 24/7 and takes you directly to the French Quarter, Frenchman Street, the Superdome/sports arena, the central business district, Mardi Gras World, City Park Museums and kayaking, the WWII Museum, and so much more. Or go in the other direction on the streetcar and hop off at Audubon Park, The Oak Street entertainment District, Tulane/Loyola Universities. The ride on the streetcar is an event by itself. View the mansions that line the entire route while sitting on antique benches with the windows open. There is so much to do in this city that it is truly impossible to get bored.
